온라인 모니터링에 의한 디젤오염토양의 토양증기추출 공정시 추출모드 평가 (Evaluation of Extraction Mode for SVE Process by On-Line Monitoring System)

  • 본 연구에서는 유류로 오염된 현장 주유소를 대상으로 토양증기추출 공정 적용시 연속추출과 간헐추출 운전의 효율성을 검토하였다. 공기주입 후 압력을 측정한 결과 동일 조건에서도 공기주입정 헤드(head) 압력이 상이하게 나타나 실험부지내 토양이 매우 불균일하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 간헐식은 1시간 가동 후 3시간 정지시켰으며, 연속식은 50분 가동 후 10분 휴지하는 것을 연속추출한 것으로 가정하였다. 송풍기의 용량은 $1m^3/min$이었다. 추출모드의 영향실험은 오염농도가 심한 두 지점을 선정하여 실시하였으며, 48시간 동안 온라인 모니터링으로 측정한 TPHgas 농도를 적산하여 비교한 결과 1시간 가동 후 3시간 휴지한 간헐추출모드가 연속추출모드보다 높게 나타났다. 일반적으로 토양증기추출 공정이 장기간 가동된다는 점을 고려한다면 오염가스 휘발량, 전력비용, 그리고 시설의 감가상각비 등에서 볼 때 간헐추출모드로 운전하는 것이 연속추출모드 보다 더 유리할 것으로 판단된다.

국내 오염토양 반출정화사업 현황 (The Occurrence and Treatment Status of Off-site Contaminated Soils in Korea)

  • Recently, ex-situ remediation technologies has been emerging to clean up contaminated soils mainly because the in-situ techniques have limited applicability and technical difficulties in relatively small contaminated sites. Accordingly, implementation of off-site treatment and disposal have been continuously increased in soil remediation and restoration projects in Korea. However, in many cases, reclaimed soil is still not properly recycled or reused. Therefore, there is an urgent need to document the current status of soil management practices in soil remediation projects in the nation. This study presents a survey of soil contamination status and remedial approaches in Korea based on soil cleanup projects completed in 2015 - 2019, and proposes the possible options of the recycling or reusing the reclaimed soils under compliance with related regulations. The results of the soil survey showed soil contamination was most severe in gas stations, industrial facilities, and military areas. The major types of pollution were related to the petroleum-contaminated site (TPH and BTEX) with 77.0% occurrence in all the contaminated sites. The reclaimed soils were mostly reused as a ground filling-up soils in industrial facilities (60.0%) and warehouses (37.0%).

Characterization of household solid waste and current status of municipal waste management in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand

  • The municipal solid waste (MSW) management system in one of the Class II Indian cities i.e. Rishikesh was studied and analysed to identify the key issues in solid waste management in the city. A total of 329 solid waste samples from 47 households were collected to characterize the household solid waste (HSW). The average (HSW) generation rate was 0.26 kg/c/d and it was composed of organic waste (57.3%), plastics (14%), paper (10.9%), and glass and ceramic (1.3%) and other materials (16.5%). There was an inverse relationship between household waste generation rate and family size (p < 0.05). The MSW management system practiced in Rishikesh is unsound. There is no waste segregation at source, no provisions of composting and no recycling by formal sector. The collection and transportation of waste is inadequate and inappropriate. Collected waste is dumped in open dumping site without scientific management. Following are some recommendations for developing a sustainable solid waste management system in Rishikesh city: (1) sensitize people for segregation at source; (2) promote reduction, reuse and recycling of wastes; (3) promote community based composting; (4) provision for 100% door to door collection and; (5) formalize the informal sectors such as rag pickers and recycling industries.

농촌 중.소 하천 및 저수지 퇴적물의 오염현황 (A study on the degree of pollution of stream and reservoir sediments in rural area)

  • This study was performed to investigate the degree of pollution of sediments of stream and reservoir in rural area. A series of site investigations were carried out for Kyongki-do area and chemical analysis were performed for sediment samples. It was found that some samples were heavily polluted with phenol and TPH and gave off a malodor. Soil Pollution Scores(SPSs) was determined for sediment samples. Some samples were classified to Soil Pollution Class(SPC) 2 and 3. For recycling and disposal of dredged sediments from stream and reservoirs, these polluted sediments should be carefully considered. A further study on the criterion of recycling/disposal of sediments and development of new Soil Pollution Index compatible for stream sediments is necessary in future.

익산시의 생활폐기물 재활용 현황 및 대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Present Condition and Countermeasure of Domestic Waste Recycling in Iksan city.)

  • 1.The domestic waste generated in Iksan city was 177 tons a day last year. 27 tons of that were recycled daily. Due to increased awareness the recycling rate also increased. 2. It is preferred to get continuous publicity and to enforce the program steadily to activate exchange centers and places like a flea market for reusable things, which will lead to increase the life-span of the current designated landfill site. 3. Because burying food waste in underground will be prohibited from year 2005, the reutilization of food waste by feeding domestic animals like ducks and making artificial fertilizer are preferred. 4. The case of Iksan city is expected to be a model to other cities by establishing a display room to accommodate its detail work demonstration, displaying modeled utilization items and exchange center, incinerator, duck ranch, lawn ground, etc. for making a city as an environmental preservation city model.

Pre-Red Mud 및 Bio-Solids의 토양 안정화제 활용 가능성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Pre-Red Mud and Bio-Solids Applicability as Soil Stabilizer)

  • Recycling as a stabilizer of industrial by-product can be terms of the proper handling of industrial by-product and positive side in terms of recycling of waste. This study was performed to evaluate has the possibility as stabilizer by primary processing Pre-Red Mud and Bio-Solids which are generated as waste in soils contaminated with heavy metals and compared the efficiency with steel slug being applied in an existing site. In evaluation of the arsenic-fixing ability of stabilizer in batch test, Bio-Solids have the similar arsenic-fixing ability with Pre-Red Mud, which shows 17% h igher arsenic-fixing ability than PS Ball. Since the stabilization periods using Bio-Solids and Pre-Red Mud are faster than the PS Ball, they seems to be better stabilizer than PS Ball to decrease the leaching of arsenic in contaiminated soil.

  • There is no simple method to solve livestock waste problems satisfactorily. For a successful solution, various methods should be well organized orderly depending upon the situation. Even in the livestock waste management, integrated waste management principle should be applied. Minimization of livestock waste generation is the first priority. It is also important to distribute fairly livestock farms throughout the nation. Efficient management of permit system is equally important. Permit should be given only when the farmer have enough grass-land on which the farmer can apply more than two thirds of livestock waste generated or when the farm have an anaerobic digestor in which store livestock waste generated for at least 3 months. In principle, livestock waste should be treated in the farm and it is desirable to operate composting facilities in the farm site too.

매립지내 환경에너지단지의 무방류 시스템 구축방안 (Construction Method of Zero Discharge System for Environmental Energy Complex in Landfill)

  • A research was performed for zero discharge system of waste water which is produced from energy recovery process of waste and biomass. Leachate and all kinds of waste water should be separated and integrated into three categories in addition to converting existing leachate treatment facility into waste water treatment facility as well as introducing a management system of reverse osmosis membrane facility and bioreactor landfill. Following these conditions to better water treatment process, it was likely to produce over 3,000 tons of low-grade recycling water and 2,000 tons of high-grade recycling water per day when zero discharge system of waste water is applied starting from 2016. Economical efficiency was also surveyed in total treatment fee. Present system costs 18,129 million won per year, and suggested zero discharge system would cost 15,789 million won per year.

  • The utilization of incineration ash from municipal waste must be promoted to solve the social problem on the shortage of final disposal site. In this research, metals should be recovered to avoid the damage of the crushing machine during the utilization of incineration ash in cement industry. In fact, incineration bottom ash from municipal waste contains iron in 3-5%. Nonferrous metal and stainless steel in 1% is also included. The research and development on the physical recovery process was performed not only to remove the metals but also to recover high grade products. Metals were separated from incineration ash in Maruya Co. Ltd.. In fact, iron scrap recovered by magnetic separation can be selled. After that, mixed metal was separated from incineration ash using screen. In this research, mixed metal tried to divided copper, aluminum, brass and stainless steel using drum type magnetic separation, eddy current separation and high magnetic separation. As a result, recovered iron had an 80% for the grade. Aluminum was recovered by eddy current separation without copper and brass.

황부산물의 콘크리트 원료 활용 가능성 평가 (Evaluation of Concrete Materials for Desulfurization Process By-products)

  • 매립지에서 발생하는 매립가스 내 포함된 황화수소는 연소과정에서 산소와 결합하여 황산화물을 발생시키고 대기 중의 수분과 결합하여 산성비가 되는 등 다양한 환경 문제를 일으킴에 따라 별도의 전처리 시설이 필수적이다. 매립가스의 탈황을 위해 탄산칼슘(CaCO3) 생성 반응에 따른 침전물 생성 처리, 흡착제를 통한 처리 등 다양한 물리화학적인 방법을 적용하고 있으나, 폐수 등 2차 폐기물의 발생되는 문제가 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위한 방법으로 생물학적 처리 공정을 이용해 원소황(S°)으로 슬러지 형태인 황부산물로 생성시켜 처리하는 공법이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 매립가스 내 황화수소의 생물학적 처리 부산물을 활용하기 위한 기술의 기초연구로서 황부산물을 활용하여 콘크리트 혼화재로 사용하고 첨가량에 따른 강도 보조 효과를 알아보기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 황부산물 혼합 콘크리트 강도 분석 결과, 황부산물의 혼합은 콘크리트 강도에 영향을 미치며, 10% 혼합시 가장 높은 강도 값을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 황부산물 10% 혼합시 포졸란 반응과 CaSO4의 형성 등에 의해 결합 강도를 증가시키는 것으로 판단된다.
