  • The market of silver precious metal clay (PMC) is promising as its application for agile metal craft. The property of suitable hardness and shrinkage as well as environment-safe is strictly required as people make the final product with bare hands. We propose a silver PMC with new organic binder made of palm oil, glycolic acid and water. Then we prepared disk specimen of our proposed PMC and well-known commercial PMC. We investigated the hardness, weight change, linear shrinkage, density and micro structure evolution with sintering temperature of $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ ($50^{\circ}C$ gap) for 15minutes. We confirm our proposed PMC has suitable property for craft product comparable for commercial PMC, and the optimum sintering condition is $850^{\circ}C$-15minutes for metal craft application.

  • High-entropy alloys have excellent mechanical properties under extreme environments, rendering them promising candidates for next-generation structural materials. It is desirable to develop non-equiatomic high-entropy alloys that do not require many expensive or heavy elements, contrary to the requirements of typical high-entropy alloys. In this study, a non-equiatomic high-entropy alloy powder Fe49.5Mn30Co10Cr10C0.5 (at.%) is prepared by high energy ball milling and fabricated by spark plasma sintering. By combining different ball milling times and ball-to-powder ratios, we attempt to find a proper mechanical alloying condition to achieve improved mechanical properties. The milled powder and sintered specimens are examined using X-ray diffraction to investigate the progress of mechanical alloying and microstructural changes. A miniature tensile specimen after sintering is used to investigate the mechanical properties. Furthermore, quantitative analysis of the microstructure is performed using electron backscatter diffraction.

  • A novel approach to incorporating oxide formers into ferritic ODS production has been developed using the co-precipitation technique. This method enables the tailored design of complex nano-oxides, integrated during Mechanical Alloying (MA) and precipitated during Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) consolidation. Findings illustrate that co-precipitation effectively produces nano-powders with customised compositions, enriching Y, Ti, and Zr in the ferritic grade to condition subsequent oxide precipitation. While the addition of Y-Ti-Zr-O nano-oxides did not prevent the formation of Y-Al-O and Al-containing nano-oxides, these were refined thanks to the presence of well-dispersed Zr. Additionally, the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) parameters were optimised to tailor the bimodal grain size distribution of the ODS steels, aiming for favourable strength-to-ductility ratios. Comprehensive microstructural analyses were performed using SEM, EDS, EBSD, and TEM techniques, alongside mechanical assessments involving microtensile tests conducted at room temperature and small punch tests carried out at room temperature, 300 ℃, and 500 ℃. The outcomes yielded promising findings, showcasing similar or better performance with conventionally manufactured ODS steels. This reinforces the effectiveness and success of this innovative approach.

  • Lead-free Piezoelectric $[Li_{0.04}(Na_{0.44}K_{0.56})](Nb_{0.88}Ta_{0.1}Sb_{0.02})$ (abbreviated as NKNLTS) has been synthsized by conventional mixed oxide method traditional ceramics process without cold-isostatic pressing. Effect of $Bi_2O_3$ addition on NKNLTS ceramics was investigated. Piezoelectric properties of the ceramic were varied with the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition and showed the maximum Kp value at 0.4wt% $Bi_2O_3$ addition. The results show that the optimum poling condition for NKNLTS ceramics of 3.5kV/mm, poling temperature of $120^{\circ}C$ and poling time of 30min. At the sintering temperature of $1100^{\circ}C$ and the calcination temperature $800^{\circ}C$, the optimal values of density=$4.7g/cm^2$, Kp=0.44, $\varepsilon_r$=1309 were obtained. Consequently, lead free piezoelectric ceramics with the excellent piezoelectric could be fabricated using a conventional mixed oxide process and the optimal manuacturing condition of those was obtained.

  • The correlationship between heat treatment condition and electrical properties of the Mn-Co-Ni oxide NTC thermistor for fuel level sensor was investigated by the X-ray diffractometry, density measurement, and electrical properties measurement such as resistivity, B constant, and thermal dissipation constant. It was shown that the heat treatment of NTC thermistor was responsible for sinterability of Mn-Co-Ni oxide. The highest density of 5.10 g/㎤ was obtained at $1250^{\circ}C$, 2 hours, at which the densification was almost completed. This is also manifested from the microstructural observation. It is found that the electrical resistivity and B constant are increased at the elevated sintering temperatures. The NTC specimens prepared in this study showed the conventional decrease of resistance with the measured temperature and the linear behavior of output voltage with fuel levels. Therefore, the electrical properties of thermistor were closely correlated with sintering condition. and the Mn-Co-Ni oxide thermistor prepared in this study has a great possibility enough to apply for an automobile fuel level sensor.

  • In recent years, industrial demands for superior mechanical properties of powder metallurgy steel components with low cost are rapidly growing. Sinter hardening that combines sintering and heat treatment in continuous one step is cost-effective. The cooling rate during the sinter hardening process dominates material microstructures, which finally determine the mechanical properties of the parts. This research establishes a numerical model of the relation between various cooling rates and microstructures in a sinter hardenable material. The evolution of a martensitic phase in the treated microstructure during end quench tests using various cooling media of water, oil, and air is predicted from the cooling rate, which is influenced by cooling conditions, using the finite element method simulations. The effects of the cooling condition on the microstructure of the sinter hardening material are found. The obtained limiting size of the sinter hardening part is helpful to design complicate shaped components.

  • $MgB_2$ bulk samples were sintered at different ambient. In this work, high purity Ar gas was added with oxygen and hydrogen gas, which can be regarded as impurity in a sense, as a possible dopant in the $MgB_2$. It was found that oxygen in the sintering ambient leads to a decrease in the critical current density $J_c$ at self field and lower fields. However, we can obtained higher $J_c$ at higher fields. It was also noted that $MgB_2$ samples sintered with 5% hydrogen in Ar revealed the increased $J_c$ at all fields compared to those processed in pure Ar ambient. From the XRD and FESEM analysis, the impurity gas in Ar can refine the $MgB_2$ grain size and result in increased grain. boundary, which can act as a strong flux pinning sites in $MgB_2$ samples. Also discussed are the effects of sintering ambient on irreversibility field, $H_{irr}$ and the upper critical field, $H_{C2}$.

  • The effect of composed phase in the hot pressed CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramic has been investigated through microstructure studies, thermal, physical and mechanical properties. Sintering was done in the condition at the temperature range 900~95$0^{\circ}C$ for 20~120 mins under 7.5 MPa unilateral pressure. Sintered ceramics were composed of diopside, anorthite, residual glass and the portion of each phase was dependent on the sintering temperature and the holding time: as the temperature increases, the amount of diopside increased and then the rate of increase of diopside reduced with increasing anorthite. The thermal expansion coefficient of hot pressed was reduced with increasing crystallinity of hot pressed and was in the range of 6.69~7.46$\times$10-6 K-1 below $600^{\circ}C$. The elastic constant of hot pressed increased with increasing crystallinity up to about 80%, but after that was reduced due to the change of microstructure. The flexural strength of sintered ceramics was decreased with higher temperature and holding time, while the fracture toughness of those increased. It was shown that the physical and mechanical properties of hot pressed ceramic were related to the fraction of composed sintered ceramics, similar to a particulate composite, to the crystallinity of 80% of the glass-ceramic.

  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers are widely used in the textile industry, filter media, membrane distillation, electronic appliances, and construction. In this study, PTFE-polyethylene oxide (PEO) fibrous membranes were fabricated by emulsion electrospinning; subsequently, pure PTFE nanofibers were obtained via sintering. PTFE-PEO electrospinning solutions were prepared using different weight ratios to determine the optimized condition. As the ratio of the PEO increased, the fiber structure improved. Scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy observations indicate that PEO is removed and PTFE fused gradually to form bonds among them during sintering. The obtained pristine PTFE membrane demonstrated hydrophobicity at 143.6° water contact angle and oleophilicity at 0° oil contact angle, which is known to be utilized for oil/water separation. A simple separation experiment was performed to remove oil droplets from water. The PTFE membrane exhibited good chemical stability and a high surface-area-to-volume nanofiber ratio. These excellent properties suggest that it is applicable to oil/water separation in harsh chemical environments.

  • Due to the anisotropy of thermal expansion, LAS system which has low thermal expansion property is hard to obtain a dense sintered body. Therefore, the thermal expansion coefficient and the mechanical strength were decreased. In this study, mullite, which has good mechanical properties in high temperature and comparatively low thmeral expansion coefficient, was taken as a additive in LAS system. And then, sintering, thermal, and mechanical properties were investigated. The results are follows; When mullite is added in eucryptite composition (Li2O.Al2O3.2SiO2) of LAS system, the creation of liquid phase results in the densification of sintered body and the specimen sintered at 136$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours shows optimum sintering condition. With the addition of mullite in eucryptite composition, mechanical strength is increased by the control of grain growth. Especially, flexual strength of EM0 specimen was about double value than the basic composition. Thermal expansion coefficients of EM0 and EM15 specimens sintered at 136$0^{\circ}C$ were -8.23$\times$10-6/$^{\circ}C$ and -4.90$\times$10-6/$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of RT.~80$0^{\circ}C$. As the mullite content are increased, negative thermal expansion ratios are decreased.
