Al-B-C 조제 β-SiC의 스파크 플라즈마 소결에 미치는 α-SiC seed 첨가 영향: 미세 구조 변화 (Influence of α-SiC Seed Addition on Spark Plasma Sintering of β-SiC with Al-B-C: Microstructural Development)

  • The unique features of spark plasma sintering process are the possibilities of a very fast heating rate and a short holding time to obtain fully dense materials. $\beta$-SiC powder with 0, 2, 6, 10 wt% of $\alpha$-SiC particles (seeds) and 4 wt% of Al-B-C (sintering aids) were spark plasma sintered at $1700-1850^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. The heating rate, applied pressure and sintering atmosphere were kept at $100^{\circ}C/min$, 40 MPa and a flowing Ar gas (500 CC/min). Microstructural development of SiC as function of seed content and temperature during spark plasma sintering was investigated quantitatively and statistically using image analysis. Quantitative image analyses on the sintered SiC ceramics were conducted on the grain size, aspect ratio and grain size distribution of SiC. The microstructure of SiC sintered up to $1700^{\circ}C$ consisted of equiaxed grains. In contrast, the growth of large elongated SiC grains in small matrix grains was shown in sintered bodies at $1750^{\circ}C$ and the plate-like grains interlocking microstructure had been developed by increasing sintering temperature. The introduction of $\alpha$-SiC seeds into $\beta$-SiC accelerated the grain growth of elongated grains during sintering, resulting in the plate-like grains interlocking microstructure. In the $\alpha$-SiC seeds added in $\beta$-SiC, the rate of grain growth decreased with $\alpha$-SiC seed content, however, bulk density and aspect ratio of grains in sintered body increased.

칩인덕터용 저온소성 Nano-glass 연구 (Low Firing Temperature Nano-glass for Multilayer Chip Inductors)

  • [ $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ ] nano-glass를 sol-gel 법으로 제조 하였다. 평균 입자 크기는 60.3 nm였으며 매우 균일한 입도 분포를 가졌다. Nano-glass를 NiZnCu ferrite의 저온소성용 소결조제로 사용하였으며 NiZnCu ferrite에 nano-glass를 첨가한 후 $840{\sim}900^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 소결을 진행하였다. 소결성 및 자기적 특성에 대해 연구하였으며 밀도, 수축율, 초투자율, 품질계수, 및 포 화자화값을 측정하였다. nano-glass를 0.5 wt% 첨가하여 $900^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 토로이달 core 시편의 초투자율은 1 MHz에서 측정 시 193.3의 값을 가졌다. 초투자율과 포화자화값은 소결온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. sol-gel 법에 의해 제조된 $ZnO-Bi_2O_3-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ nano-glass를 칩인덕터용 NiZnCu ferrite의 저온 소결조제로 사용 가능함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, $0.07Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-xPb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-(0.93-x)Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ ceramics system were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3-Bi_2O_3-CuO$ sintering aids and the specimens were sintered at $930^{\circ}C$. Thereafter, their piezoelectric and dielectric characteristics were investigated according to the amount of PNN substitution. At 9 mol% PNN substitution, density, electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), dielectric constant, mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) and piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) showed the optimum value of $7.86g/cm^3$, 0.60, 1640, 1323 and 387 pC/N, respectively. It is considered that these values are suitable for piezoelectric divece application such ad multilayer piezoelectric actuator and ultrasonic vibrator with pure Ag internal electrode.

  • Aluminum nitride (AlN) has excellent properties such as high thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity, whereas it has some disadvantages such as low sinterability and tendency to be hydrolyzed by moisture at room temperature. In the present work, the relative density, modulus of rupture and microhardness were examined for pressure-less-sintered AlN (synthetic and commercial) bodies which were prepared under the conditions of various sintering temperatures, holding times and additions of CaCO3 which showed the best effect on sinterability among the various sintering aids. As a result, the AlN bodies with 1.0 wt% CaCO3 (0.56wt% CaO) which were sintered at 1800$^{\circ}C$ for 20 min showed good densification. In this case, the relative densities were 95.9% and 95.2%, and microhardnesses were 10.3 GPa and 9.8 GPa for synthetic and commercial AlN respectively. And as the holding time at 1800$^{\circ}C$ was increased from 10 min to 60 min, the relative density was increased from 91.9% to 96.5%. It was considered that impurities of metals and oxygen promoted the densification of AlN at low temperature (1600$^{\circ}C$).

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for ultrasonic vibrator application, PNW-PMN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured according to the amount of CaCO$_3$ addition, and their piezoelectric, dielectric and microstructural characteristics were investigated. The ceramic specimens could be sintered at sintering temperature below 1000 $^{\circ}C$ due to the effect of Li$_2$CO$_3$-CaCO$_3$ liquid phase produced by the reaction of Li$_2$CO$_3$ and CaCO$_3$. At 0.2 wt% Li$_2$CO$_3$ and 0.25 wt% CaCO$_3$ added specimen sintered at 920 $^{\circ}C$, the density, electromechanical coupling factor(k$_{p}$), mechanical quality factor(Q$_{m}$) and dielectric constant showed the optimal value of 7.78 g/㎤, 0.49, 1396, and 1300, respectively, for ultrasonic vibrator application.ion.

  • In this study, $0.95(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_{3}-0.05Li(Sb_{0.8}Nb_{0.2})O_{3}+0.2\;wt%Ag_{2}O$ were investigated as a variations of sintering times in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. $Ag_{2}O$ were used as sintering aids and the specimens were sintered during 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 hours, respectively. At the specimen sintered during 7 hour, Electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), density, dielectric constant (${\epsilon}_{\gamma}$), piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and curie temperature ($T_c$) of composition ceramics showed the optimal value of 0.450, 4.274 $[g/cm^3]$, 1007, 257 [pC/N] and $396^{\circ}C$, respectively.

  • In this paper, in order to develop low temperature sintering $PbTiO_3$-system piezoelectric ceramics for thickness-vibration-mode piezoelectric transformer, $Pb_{0.76}Ca_{0.24}[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.04}Ti_{0.96}]O_3$ ceramics using $0.25\;wt\%\;CaCO_3$ and $0.2\;wt\%\;Li_{2}CO_3$ as sintering aids were manufactured according to the variation of poling field. The specimens could be sintered at $930\;^{\circ}C$. The piezoelectric properties were investigated according to the poling field. The maximum properties showed at the field of 6.5 kV/mm, which had kt of 0.49, Qmt of 1816, and $d_{33}$ of 81.4 pC/N.

  • In this study, in order to develop the composition ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric actuator, PMN-PNN-PZT ceramics were fabricated using $Li_2CO_3$, $Na_2CO_3$, ZnO as sintering aids and their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated according to the Bi substitution, Bi substitution induced grain growth and increase of sinterablity, And also, Bi substitution suppress secondary phase due to the liquid phase sintering effect. Bi substitution enhanced electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$) and dielectric constant ($\varepsilon_r$), However, mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) was deteriorated, At the sintering temperature of 870 $^{\circ}C$ and Bi substitution of 1 mol%, density, electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$), Dielectric constant ($\varepsilon_r$) and piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) of specimen showed the optimum values of 7,878 $g/cm^3$, 0,608, 835, 1603 and 397 pC/N, respectively for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application.

  • In the study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for multilayer piezoelectric transformer, $(Pb,Ca,Sr)Ti(Mn,Sb)O_3$ ceramics were fabricated using $Na_2CO_3$, $Li_2CO_3$, $MnO_2$ and $Bi_2O_3$ as sintering aids and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated according to the amount of $Bi_2O_3$ addition. At the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$, density, thickness vibration mode electromechanical coupling factor ($k_t$), thickness vibration mode mechanical quality factor ($Q_{mt}$) and dielecteic constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) showed the optimum value of $6.94[g/cm^3]$, 0.497, 3,162 and 209, respectively, for multilayer piezoelectric transformer application.

  • The influence of CuO addition on what of the $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ ceramics was studied. The sintering temperature of $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ ceramics was lowered by the addition of CuO additives. The 1 - 5 wt% CuO were selected and employed as the sintering aids. Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic technologies are popular technologies used in the manufacture of microwave devices. In this study, crystalline and electrical properties of CuO doped $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ ceramics were investigated to determine the low temperature sintering properties. The addition of CuO to $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ lowered the sintering temperature from $1350^{\circ}C$ to $1150^{\circ}C$. The dependence of the sintering temperature shrinkage rate and mechanism of CuO doped $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ ceramics are investigated and discussed. Also, the crystalline structure of CuO - doped $(Ba,Sr)TiO_3$ ceramics is discussed by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method.
