We report for the first time the synthesis of niobium dioxide nanowires on a sapphire substrate by chemical vapor transport method. We identified single crystalline nature of as-synthesized nanowires by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Niobium dioxide nanowires with their large surface-to-volume ratio and high activities can be employed for electrochemical catalysts and immunosensors. The Raman spectrum of niobium dioxide nanowires also confirmed their identity.

Despite the growing interest in GeTe as a archetypal displacive ferroelectric material as well as the basis of related materials used in data-storage applications, atom-resolved study of single crystalline GeTe surface been lacking. Using low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS), we investigated as-cleaved and annealed surfaces of GeTe. We found that as-cleaved GeTe(111) surface is composed of at least two kinds of terraces at 78 K. While two terraces show metallic characteristics, they also exhibit distinctive I-V spectra and imaging conditions, with each being attributed to Ge-terminated, and Te-terminated surfaces respectively. GeTe(111) surfaces annealed at moderately elevated temperature introduces intricate networks of extended defect structures. We will present these data and discuss the role of vacancies in the formation of these structures.

It is a quite duality concerning to control the temperature of single crystalline growth as it does when we get most of heat treating products. It is also important factor to control the temperature when we make the $Al_2$O$_3$(single crystalline) used to artificial jewels. glass of watches, and heat resistant transparent g1asses. Thus, it is a major interest to get the proper temperature in accordance with the time process while we are making mixture of oxygen and hydrogen to have the right temperature. In this paper. we will study of electrical valve positioning system with DC-Motor for the gas mixture to improve the quality of products.

We have investigated effects of the lattice mismatch between the LPE films and the substrates. We have grown $La_{2-x}Sr_{x}CuO_{4}$(x=0.1 to 0.15) single crystalline films on single crystalline substrates having different lattice parameter ratio c/a e.g., $La_{2-x}Sr_{x}Cu_{1-y}Zn_{y}O_{4},\;La_{2-x}Ba_{x}CuO_{4},\; LaSrAlO_{4}\;and\;La_{2-x}Sr_{x}Cu_{1-y}Al_{y}O_{4}$ etc., using the IR-LPE technique. The superconducting properties of the grown films were found to vary significantly depending on the lattice mismatch with different substrates.
Many researches have been carried out to improve light absorption in the crystalline silicon solar cell fabrication. The rear reflection is applied to increase the path length of light, resulting in the light absorption enhancement and thus the efficiency improvement mainly due to increase in short circuit current. In this paper, we manufactured the silicon solar cell using the mono crystalline silicon wafers with $156{\times}156mm^2$, 0.5~3.0 ${\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ of resistivity and p-type. After saw damage removal, the dielectric film ($SiN_x$)on the back surface was deposited, followed by surface texturing in the KOH solution. It resulted in single-side texturing wafer. Then the dielectric film was removed in the HF solution. The silicon wafers were doped with phosphorus by $POCl_3$ with the sheet resistance 50 ${\Omega}/{\Box}$ and then the silicon nitride was deposited on the front surface by the PECVD with 80nm thickness. The electrodes were formed by screen-printing with Ag and Al paste for front and back surface, respectively. The reflectance and transmittance for the single-sided and double-sided textured wafers were compared. The double-sided textured wafer showed higher reflectance and lower transmittance at the long wavelength region, compared to single-sided. The completed crystalline silicon solar cells with different back surface texture showed the conversion efficiency of 17.4% for the single sided and 17.3% for the double sided. The efficiency improvement with single-sided textured solar cell resulted from reflectance increase on back surface and light absorption enhancement.
This paper describes the heteroepitaxial growth of single-crystalline 3C-SiC (cubic silicon carbide) thin films on Si (100) wafers by atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) at 1350 oC for micro/nanoelectromechanical system (M/NEMS) applications, in which hexamethyldisilane (HMDS, Si2(CH3)6) was used as a safe organosilane single-source precursor. The HMDS flow rate was 0.5 sccm and the H2 carrier gas flow rate was 2.5 slm. The HMDS flow rate was important in obtaing a mirror-like crystalline surface. The growth rate of the 3C-SiC film in this work was 4.3 μm/h. A 3C-SiC epitaxial film grown on the Si (100) substrate was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman scattering, respectively. These results show that the main chemical components of the grown film were single-crystalline 3C-SiC layers. The 3C-SiC film had a very good crystal quality without twins, defects or dislocations, and a very low residual stress.
Side-chain liquid crystalline polymers having polysiloxane skeletons were synthesized by a thiol-ene reaction, using two kinds of mesogenic groups: a cholesteryl group for induction into a cholesteric liquid crystal phase and a triazomesogenic group for imparting light-sensitivity. All the synthesized polymers were crystalline, except the one with a single cholesteryl group. Crystallinity, glass transition temperature, and melt transition temperature increased with increasing content of the azomesogenic group. The polymer (P-C10A0) with a single cholesteryl group has a cholesteric phase, the one (P-C0A10) with a single azomesogenic group has a smectic phase, and those with both types of mesogenic groups showed both smectic and cholesteric phases. The temperature ranges of the two liquid crystalline phases in the co-polymers were independent of the contents of the two types of mesogenic groups. The rate of photoisomerization of the light-sensitive azobenzene group in the polymer decreased with increasing azobenzene content due to steric hindrance between the azomesogenic groups.

Well-defined surfaces of single-crystalline solid materials are starting points of self-organizationof nanostructures and chemical reactions controlled in nanoscale. Although highly ordered atomicarrangement can be obtained on semiconductor surfaces, they can be maintained only in vacuumand not in air or in aqueous environment. Since single-crystalline metal oxide surfaces arechemically stable and no further oxidation occurs, their atomic structures can be utilized fornanofabrication in liquid processes, nanoelectrochemistry and nanobiotechnology. Sapphire is oneof the most stable metal oxides and its crystalline quality is excellent, as can be applied to electronicdevices that require ultralow defect densities. We recently found that chemical phase separationoccurs on sapphire surfaces by annealing processes and the formed nanodomains exhibit specificproperties in air and in water [1,2]. In our experiments, highly selective and controllable adsorptionof various protein molecules is observed on the phase-separated surfaces though the materials andcrystallographic orientations are identical [3,4]. Planar lipid bilayers supported on thephase-separated sapphire surface also exhibit a specific formation site selectivity [5]. Chemicalnanodomains appear on other metal-oxide surfaces, such as well-ordered titania surfaces. Wedemonstrate that surface chemistry of the nanodomains can be characterized in aqueousenvironment using atomic force microscopy equipped with colloidal tips and then show adsorptionand desorption behaviors of various proteins on the phase-separated surfaces.

In this work, the freestanding GaN single crystalline substrates without cracks were grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). The GaN substrates, having a current maximum size of 350 $\mu\textrm{m}$-thickness and 10${\times}$10 $\textrm{mm}^2$ area, were obtained by HVPE growth GaN on sapphire substrate and subsequent mechanical removal of the sapphire substrate. A lattice constant of c$\_$0/=5.18486 ${\AA}$ and a FWHM of DCXRD was 650 arcsec for the single crystalline freestanding GaN substrate. The low temperature PL spectrum consist of excitonic emission and deep donor to acceptor pair recombination at 1.8 eV. The Raman E$_2$ (high) mode frequency was 567 cm$\^$-1/ which was the same as that of strain free bulk single crystals. The Hall mobility and carrier concentration was 283 $\textrm{cm}^2$/V$.$sec and 1.1${\times}$10$\^$18/ cm$\^$-3/, respectively. The freestanding and crack-free GaN single crystalline substrate suitable for the homoepitaxial growth of GaN, and the HVPE method are promising approaches for the preparation of large area, crack-free GaN substrates.
