Analysis of Feedback Queues with Priorities

  • We consider single server feedback queueing systems with priorities. In the model, there are J stations and job classes. Jobs of class i arrive at station i according to a Poisson process, and have a general service time distribution. We derive the generating functions of the number of jobs at each station just after a busy period and the formula for the mean sojourn time that a specific tagged job spends at station j from its arrival to departure from the system.

  • Axial-flow cyclone separator cluster can be used for a dust removal device inside a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning(HVAC) system of subway station. In this study, 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis was performed to compare single unit axial-flow cyclone with couple unit axial-flow cyclone cluster. It is shown that the performance of cyclone separator is not influenced by number of single units but influenced by ability of single unit.

Seismic response of single-arch large-span fabricated subway station structure

  • A new type of fabricated subway station construction technology can effectively solve these problems. For a new type of metro structure form, it is necessary to clarify its mechanical properties, especially the seismic performance. A soil-structure elastoplastic finite element model is established to perform three-dimensional nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis based on the first fabricated station structure-Yuanjiadian station of Changchun Metro Line 2, China. Firstly, the nonlinear seismic response characteristics of the fabricated and cast-in-place subway stations under different seismic wave excitations are compared and analyzed. Then, a comprehensive analysis of several important parameters that may affect the seismic response of fabricated subway stations is given. The results show that the maximum plastic strain, the interlayer deformation, and the internal force of fabricated station structures are smaller than that of cast-in-place structure, which indicates that the fabricated station structure has good deformation coordination capability and mechanical properties. The seismic responses of fabricated stations were mainly affected by the soil-structure stiffness ratio, the soil inertia effect, and earthquake load conditions rarely mentioned in cast-in-place stations. The critical parameters have little effect on the interlayer deformation but significantly affect the joints' opening distance and contact stress, which can be used as the evaluation index of the seismic performance of fabricated station structures. The presented results can better understand the seismic responses and guide the seismic design of the fabricated station.

  • The inheritance of resistance to bacterial blight in a Tongil-type rice cultivar 'Changseongbyeo' was studied using a Korean isolate HB9101. which belongs to race $K_1$. The resistance of Changseongbyeo to the HB9101 was controlled by a single dominant gene. This gene was allelic with Xa-1 gene and linked to Ig gene on chromosome 4 with the recombination value of 7.5%.

미시적 시뮬레이션을 통한 PRT 정류장 용량분석 (Analysis of PRT Station Capacity based on Micro Simulation)

  • The introduction of Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) has been widely discussed in the Korean transportation research field. However, there is no robust criterion to derive the throughput of cars and passengers at PRT stations, which plays a primary role in determining the overall capacity of PRT systems. The present study provided a methodology to rigorously compute the capacity for simple-serial PRT stations with a single platform, considering three decisive factors, i.e., the demand level of incoming cars and outgoing passengers, the station structure, and the operation strategy. A micro-level simulator was developed for the analysis of station capacity. And, by using this, station capacities were presented for various combinations of the decisive factors. In particular, the relationship between capacity and station structure was investigated in detail. Station structure is represented by the numbers of platform berths, input queue berths, and output queue berths. Moreover, both waive rate and waiting time, which represent the level of passenger service, were taken into account when the station throughput was computed.

절제된 IIIA N2 병기 비소세포형 폐암에 있어서 Nodal Station의 의의 (Nodal Station as a Prognostic Factor in Resected Stage IIIA N2 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer)

  • 절제된 IIIA N2병기 비소세포형 폐암에 있어서 종격동임파절의 전이 양상에 따른 임상적 특성을 알아보고, 예후에 미치는 영향에 대해 평가해 보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 1991년 1월부터 2000년 12월까지 비소세포형 폐암으로 폐엽절제술 이상의 수술을 받은 환자 중 수술 전 항암 화학요법 또는 방사선 치료를 받은 환자와 수술 사망 환자를 제외한 174명을 대상으로 후향적 연구를 자였다. 결과: 상엽 종양에서 하부 종격동임파절로 전이된 경우 5년 생존율은 32.3%로서,하부 종격동임파절 전이가 없는 환자의 5년 생존율 25.6%와 차이가 없었다(p=0.86). 하엽 종양에서 상부 종격동임파절로 전이된 경우 5년 생존율은 25.1%로, 상부 종격동임파절 전이가 없는 환자의 5년 생존율 14.1%와 비교하여 통계학적인 차이가 없었다(p=.33). 전체 환자 중 subcarinal node로의 전이에 따른 생존율의 비교시 전이 유무에 따른 5년 생존율에 차이가 없었다(20.9% vs 25.6%, p=0.364). 전이된 종격동임파절의 station수에 따른 비교 시 single station군의 5년 생존율은 26.3%로, multiple station군의 18.3%보다 생존율이 유의하게 높았다(p=0.048). Multiple station군에 있어서 수술 후 항암 화학 요법 및 방사선 치료를 병행한 경우 5년 생존율 34.2%로서 생존율의 향상이 있었다(p=0.01). 수술 후 생존에 영향을 미치는 인자로는 연령 $\geq$60세(O.R: 1.682, p=.006), multiple station N2 (O.R: 1.503, p=.021), 전페절제술(O.R: 1.562, p=.018), 수술 후 항암 화학요법 및 방사선 치료(O.R: 0.625, p=.012)등이 있었다. 결론: 절제된 IIIA N2 병기 비소세포형 폐암에 있어서 전이된 종격동임파절 부위의 수(single vs multiple station)가 술 후 생존에 영향을 미치는 중요한 예후 인자였으며, multiple station N2의 경우 수술 후 항암 화학요법 및 방사선 치료를 병행함으로써 생존율을 높일 수 있으리라 생각된다.

  • We present two decomposition approximations for the mean sojourn times in open single class queing networks. If there is a single bottleneck station, the approximations are asymptotically exact in both light and heavy traffic. When applied to a Jackson network or an M/G/1 queue, these approximations are exact for all values of the traffic intensity.

  • Undoubtedly livestock is one of the major contributors to the economy of any country. The economic value of livestock includes meat, dairy products, fiber, fertilizer etc. Understanding and identifying the associations of quantitative trait loci (QTL) with the economically important traits is believed to substantially benefit the livestock industry. The past two decades have seen a flurry of interest in mapping the QTL associated with traits of economic importance on the genome. With the availability of single nucleotide polymorphism chip of various densities it is possible to identify regions, QTL and genes on the genome that explain the association and its effect on the phenotype under consideration. Remarkable advancement has been seen in genome wide association studies (GWAS) since its inception till the present day. In this review we describe the progress and challenges of GWAS in various livestock species.

세개의 창구로 구성된 큐잉시스템의 최적순서에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Order of Queueing System with three Stations)

  • The one of the important problems in the design of queueing systems is the decision of the order of service stations. The object of this problem is the decision of the order that minimizes the expected sojourn time per customer in the given arrival process and service time distributions. In this paper, the tandem queueing system in series is studied with the emphasis on the optimal order of the tandem queueing system which has three stations with single servers. In one system, customers arrive at the first station with Poisson process. This system is composed of service stations with a constant, a general distribution and a Exponential distribution is studied. To select the optimal order after the orders of each pair of two stations is decided, it is compared the two orders of system. With this results, total expected delay of the systems which has three stations is compared. The result is the best that service station with constant time is on the first place, then the service station with general distribution and the service station with Exponential distribution is followed. And the other system is consist of service stations with a constant and two probabilistic distributions. In this case, two probabilistic distributions has a non-overlapping feature. It is the optimal order that the service station with constant time is on the first place then the service station with longer service time and the service station with shorter service time is followed.
