Stable and tunable dual-wavelength erbium-doped fiber ring laser(EDFL) using a single fiber Bragg grating(FBG) and two coil heaters is proposed and demonstrated. Installing two identical coils into a single FBG, the FBG is symmetrically divided into two different portions. While a current supply to the coil, the refractive index of the FBG under the coil is changed. The FBG can operate as a joint of two different FBGs. Due to the thermo-optic effect of a fiber, the resonance wavelength split into two peaks. The spacing between two adjacent channels was changed as much as the difference of heating power. It was tuned up to 3 nm of wavelength under the electrical power with a 1000 mW. Moreover, the lasing wavelength can be individually tuned without influencing to the adjacent channel.
Advances in circuit and integration technology are continuously boosting the speed of processors. One of the main challenges presented by such developments is the effective use of powerful processors in shared memory multiprocessor system. We believe that the interconnection problem is not solved even for small scale shared memory multiprocessor, since the speed of shared buses is unlikely to keep up with the bandwidth requirements of new powerful processors. In the past few years, point-to-point unidirectional connection have emerged as a very promising interconnection technology. The single slotted ring is the simplest form point-to-point interconnection. The main limitation of the single slotted ring architecture is that latency of access increase linearly with the number of the processors in the ring. Because of this, we proposed the dual slotted ring as an alternative to single slotted ring for cache-based multiprocessor system. In this paper, we analyze the proposed dual slotted ring architecture using new snooping protocol and enforce simulation to compare it with single slotted ring.

In this paper, a dual-band high frequency (HF) and ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna is presented that operates in the 13.56 MHz band as well as in the 920 MHz band. A spiral coil along the edges of the antenna substrate is designed to handle the HF band, and a novel meander open complementary split ring resonator (MOCSRR) dipole antenna is utilized to generate the UHF band. The dual-band antenna is supported by a single-feeding port for mono-chip RFID applications. The antenna is fabricated using an FR4 substrate to verify theoretical and simulation designs, and it has compact dimensions of $80mm{\times}40mm{\times}0.8mm$. The proposed antenna also has an omnidirectional characteristic with a gain of approximately 1 dBi.
In the survivability and simplicity aspect, SONET Self-healing Ring(SHR) is one of the most important schemes for the high-speed telecommunication networks. Since the ring capacity requirement is defined by the largest STS-1 cross-section in the ring, load balancing is the key issue in the design of SONET SHR. Recently, most of the research on load balancing problem have been concentrated on the SONET single-ring case. However, in certain applications, multiple-ring configuration is necessary because of the geographical limitations or the need for extra bandwidth. In this paper, the load balancing problem for SONET dual-ring is considered by assuming symmetric inter-ring demands. We present a linear programming based formulation of the problem. Initial solution and improvement procedures are presented, which solves the routing and interconnection between the two rings for each demand. Computational experiments are performed on various size of networks with randomly generated demand sets. Results show that the proposed algorithm is excellent in both the solution quality and the computational time requirement. The average error bound of the solutions obtained is 0.26% of the optimum.
The multiprocessor system suffers interconnection network contension while exploiting the program's parallelism. A CC-NUMA system based on point-to-point link ring structure is one of the scalable architectures that expand the system bandwidth the number of processors/nodes increases. The dual-ring system is a simple solution to enhance the system performance and scalability by duplicating the links. In ring-based systems, an unbalanced transaction among links makes a hot spot on the interconnection network. In this situation, total system performance and scalability are bound by the hot spot of the links In this paper, I propose a dual-link CC-NUMA system, which alleviates the concentration of transactions among the links. By the simulation results, the proposed system significantly outperforms the single-ring and bidirection dual-ring systems. In addition, the proposed system show better distribution of transactions among the links that achieves an extended scalability.
In this paper, we consider an interconnection network, DRDT (Dual Receive Dual Transmit), that is a double-loop ring topology and adopts the concept of multiple packets transmission. For three types of DRDT configurations, we investigate some properties related to path sets and discuss the method for finding minimal path sets. Using the concept of the terminal reliability and the path sets approach, we evaluate the reliability of the DRDT networks and compare them with a single ring network and a unidirectional double-loop ring network.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of a simultaneous dual-task and horse-riding simulator (HRS) training regime on pulmonary function and flexibility. Methods: Sixteen subjects were recruited and randomly allocated to two groups: a dual-task (DT) (n=8) or a single-task (ST) (n=8) training group. Flexibility and pulmonary function were assessed before and after HRS training. Both groups underwent HRS training for 4 weeks, 3 times/week in 15-minute training sessions. The ST group underwent HRS training and the DT group underwent dual-task HRS training, which consisted of throwing and catching a ball and ring catching while HRS training. Results: Training significantly increased flexibility and FVC (forced vital capacity) and FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in 1 second) in both groups (p<0.05), but FEV1/FVC and PEF (peak expiratory flow) were not significantly different after training in both groups (p>0.05). After the training, flexibility and FVC in the DT group were significantly greater than in the ST group (p<0.05), but FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and PEF were not significantly different (p>0.05). Conclusion: Simultaneous dual-task and HRS motor training improved flexibility, FVC, and FEV1, and our comparative analysis suggests that dual-task HRS training improved flexibility and FVC more than single-task training.
This paper proposes four-ring slot resonator-based MIMO antennas of 75×150 mm2 without and with CSRR structures in the sub-6-GHz range. These orthogonal-fed antennas have shown diverse characteristics with dual polarization. L-shaped parasitic structures have increased the isolation (i.e., >40 dB) in the single-element antenna over the band of 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz. A set of three CSRR structures in the MIMO antenna reduced the coupling between antenna ports placed in an inline arrangement and enhanced the isolation from 12 dB to 20 dB and the diversity characteristics. The S-parameters of both MIMO antennas are measured and used to evaluate MIMO parameters like ECC, TARC, MEG, and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show the variations in the gain and directivity on exciting linear and dual polarizations. The diversity performance of the reported MIMO antennas is suitable for 5G applications.
In the past several years, many systems which adopted ring topology with high-speed unidirectional point-to-point links have emerged to overcome the limit of bus for interconnection network of clustered multiprocessor system. However, rapid increase of processor speed and performance improvement of local bus and memory system limit scalability of system with point-to-point link of standard bandwidth. Therefore, necessity to extend bandwidth is emphasized. In this paper, we adopt PANDA system as base model, which is clustering-based multiprocessor system. By simulating a model adopting commercial processor and local bus specification, we show that point-to-point link is bottleneck of system performance, and bandwidth expansion by more than 200% is needed. To expand bandwidth of interconnection network, it needs excessive design cost and time to develop new point-to-point link with doubled bandwidth. As an alternative to double bandwidth, we propose several ways to implement dual ring -simple dual ring, transaction-separated dual ring, direction-separated dual ring- by using off-the-shelf point-to-point links with IEEE standard bandwidth. We analyze pros. and cons. of each model compared with doubled-bandwidth single ring by simulation.

We propose a novel ring structure based on the stadium-shaped ring resonator (SSRR) with dual photonic crystal microcavity (DPCM) for biosensor and analyzed the sensing characteristics. The Q-factor of the photonic crystal microcavity (PCM) can be significantly enhanced when the PCM or DPCM has the same resonance condition as the SSRR. The simulation results show that the Q-factor of the SRR with DPCM was increased by three times in comparison with single PCM structure. We also defined a mutual interference between two PCMs. Assuming a detectable spectral resolution of 10 picometers, a refractive index resolution of $3.03\times10-5$ can be measured on the SSRR-DPCM.
