Prospects of Characteristics Factors on Serious Game through Application Case Study Analysis (응용분야 사례 분석을 통한 기능성 게임의 특성요인 전망)

  • The game market has not only grown in size of the 10 trillion won but also the form and function of game use. Serious game combines the educational purpose and the fun of the game and develops it so that contents such as national defense. In this study, we analyze the cases of five application areas for the activation of serious games, and develop factors that the serious game should have, we want to see what the characteristics are and how important it is. The results of analysis show that it was analyzed that most serious games of application field were developed as 'experiential games' such as education, learning, experience, and simulation. This means that it is very effective to develop a serious game in consideration of the characteristics that a potential user should prefer a sensible game as well as a clear goal of a serious game in game development.

  • MMO RPG Online game as a new means of human computer interaction has been made rapid progress. Even though many kinds of online game have published, few games are being well received by its user. So we have a problem to be solved what is the fundamentals to attract game users. I will apply a game theory of the Roger Caillois who lived as an typical french thinker. Although Roger Caillois had never experienced a computer game since he died at 1978, his game theory was acknowledged that a game can be classified into four sections to grab the human's interest related with culture. Four sections of game were consisted of Ilinx, Mimicry, Alea, and Agon. The competition with people in game is essential to "Agon" that which stands on the basis of a pride when one is definitely superior to the others. In same way, "Alea" is that which stands on the basis of fortune, Mimicry is that which stands on the basis of simulation, Ilinx is that which stands on the basis of dizzy. In conclusion, I will explain that a game theory of the Roger Caillois is useful tool for deveoper to understand game fundamentals.d game fundamentals.

  • War-games using C4I systems have been used to improve the command ability of commanders and the fighting power of combat forces. During a war-game simulation, a commander makes a plan for the movement of a combat force and issues orders to the combat force according to the plan. If it is possible to minimize damages from the artillery of enemy forces and take the advantage position where is effective for attack/defense, we can hold a dominant position of the battlefield. Therefore, this papers proposes a genetic algorithm-based optimal path searching method. The proposed method creates an optimal path of a combat force by taking into consideration dangerous conditions of the battlefield in which the combat force is. This paper also shows the process of creating an optimal path by using a discrete event specification modeling and simulation method.

  • An environmental factor is very important in a war game model supporting military training. Most war game models in Korean armed forces apply the same weather conditions to all operation areas. As a result, it fails to derive a high-fidelity simulation result. For this reason this study attempts to develop factor techniques for a high-fidelity war game that can apply distributed synthetic atmospheric environment modeling data to a military simulation. The major developed factor technology of this study applies regional distributed precipitation data to the 2D-GIS based Simplified Detection Probability Model(SDPM) that was developed for this study. By doing this, this study shows that diversely distributed local weather conditions can be applied to a military simulation depending on the model resolution from theater level to engineering level, on the use from training model to analytical model, and on the description level from corps level to battalion level.

  • This paper presents the analysis results of dynamics in the billiards game within the frame­work of rigid-body mechanics and a numerical simulation program. The friction exists between the ball and the table bed as well as between the ball and the rail. There are three parts in the dynamic behavior of the ball on the table bed; motion of the ball on the table bed, collision between balls, and collision between the ball and the cushion. During the development of the simulation program, the dynamics problems such as rolling motion and three-dimensional frictional impact motion have been analyzed in detail. The theoretical issues are implemented into a viable graphic simulation program and its efficacy is demonstrated through the experi­mental validation of the billiards game. The resulting analysis results are verified quantitatively and qualitatively using high-speed video camera. Through the experimental tests, it was found that the physical parameters such as coefficients of restitution and friction vary according to the motion variables and corresponding empirical formulations were developed. The simulation and experimental results agree well.

  • As game industry prospers, the negative side of games becomes highlighted as well as its contributions to economy growth. In spite of strong arguments for the necessity to regulations as a means to decrease addiction or overindulgence, research has produced future suggestions rather than quantifiable evidence. In this paper, we propose adopting a simulation approach in addition to quantitative approaches to better understand optimal regulatory levels since a simulation approach can visualize unexpected side effects of regulations. In this study, we suggest the application of an agent-based model (ABM) as a smart service to measure the effects of regulatory policies. We review cases applying ABM in various domains and consider the possibility of using an ABM to understand the effectiveness of web board-game regulations. We find that the ABM approach would be useful in several areas, such as the analysis of regulatory effects that reflect a variety of characteristics, the measurement of micro-regulatory effects, and the simulation of regulations.

  • Texture Mapping is a technique for adding realism to an image in 3D graphics Chip. Bilinear filtering mode of this technique needs accesses of 4 texels to process one pixel. In this paper we analyzed the access pattern of texture, and proposed the high performance texture cache which can access 4 texels simultaneously. We evaluated using simulation results of 3D game(Quake 3, Unreal Tournament 2004). Simulation results show that proposed texture cache has high performance on the case where physical size is less then or equal 8KBytes.

  • This paper proposes a new concept of coordinating green this which controls 10 traffic intersection systems. For instance, if we have a baseballs game at 8 pm today, traffic volume toward the baseball game at 8 pm today, traffic volume toward the baseball game will be incr eased 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes before the baseball game. at that time we can not pred ict optimal green time Even though there have smart elctrosensitive traffic light system. Therefore, in this paper to improve average vehicle speed and reduce average vehicle waiting time, we created optimal green time using fuzzy rules and neural network. Computer simulation results proved reducing average vehicle waiting time proposed coordinating green time better than electro-sensitive traffic light system. Therefore, in this paper to improvevehicle speed and reduce average vehicle waiting time, we created optiual green time fuzzy rules and neural network. A Game Theory Based Interaction Strategy between Residential Users and an Electric Company

  • With the development of smart grid technology, it has become a hotspot to increase benefits of both residential users and electric power companies through demand response technology and interactive technology. In this paper, the game theory is introduced to the interaction between residential users and an electric company, making a mutually beneficial situation for the two. This paper solves the problem of electricity pricing and load shifting in the interactive behavior by building the game-theoretic process, proposing the interaction strategy and doing the optimization. In the simulation results, the residential users decrease their cost by 11% mainly through shifting the thermal loads and the electric company improves its benefits by 5.6% though electricity pricing. Simulation analysis verifies the validity of the proposed method and shows great revenue for the economy of both sides.

  • This paper presents a method for joint analysis of combat power and communication system performance via interoperation of a war game simulator and a communication network simulator using HLA/RTI. Effectiveness analysis of combat power has been performed by war game simulation with consideration of communication effects simulated by the network simulator. Performance analysis of a communication system has been performed by network simulation with computer forces generated by the war game simulator. Survivability of the red force and transmission power of a tactical FM radio for the blue force have been measured for the joint analysis.
