The purpose of this paper is to design and implement the user motion pattern control system for the simulated vehicle. After analyzing the user motion patterns in the system, the patterns are used to control the moving direction of the simulated vehicle such as forward, backward, turn right, turn left etc. The patterns in the system around are sent to the simulated vehicle in real time. In order to execute the suggested user motion pattern control system, the Kinect is used for executing the system. The Kinect recognizes the specified user motion patterns and it transmits the data to the user motion pattern control system. There are nine kinds of the user motion patterns in the system for controlling the simulated vehicle. In addition to this, some sensors are used to detect the condition of the simulated vehicle. GPS is also used to estimate the current location of the simulated vehicle and to obtain the driving information.
A gasoline injector rig which can measure cumulative injected fuel mass under a vehicle driving condition was developed. The measurement system consists of an engine control unit (ECU), data acquisition (DAQ) and injected fuel collection system using loadcells. By supplying reconstructed sensor signals which simulate the real vehicle's sensor signals to the ECU, the ECU drives injectors as if they were driven in the vehicle. The vehicle's performance was computer simulated by using $GT-Suite^{(R)}$ software based on both engine part load performance and automatic transmission shift map. Throttle valve position, engine and vehicle speed, air mass flow rate et al. were computer simulated. The used vehicle driving pattern for the simulation was FTP-75 mode. For reconstructing the real vehicle sensor signals which are correspondent to the $GT-Suite^{(R)}$ simulated vehicle's performance, the DAQ systems were used. The injected fuel was collected with mess cylinders. The collected fuel mass in the mess cylinder with elapsed time after starting FTP-75 driving mode was measured using loadcells. The developed method shows highly improved performance in fast timing and accuracy of the cumulative injected fuel mass measurement under the vehicle driven condition.
A conditional probability based approach known as Particle Filter Method (PFM) is a powerful tool for system parameter identification. In this paper, PFM has been applied to identify the vehicle parameters based on response statistics of the bridge. The flexibility of vehicle model has been considered in the formulation of bridge-vehicle interaction dynamics. The random unevenness of bridge has been idealized as non homogeneous random process in space. The simulated response has been contaminated with artificial noise to reflect the field condition. The performance of the identification system has been examined for various measurement location, vehicle velocity, bridge surface roughness factor, noise level and assumption of prior probability density. Identified vehicle parameters are found reasonably accurate and reconstructed interactive force time history with identified parameters closely matches with the simulated results. The study also reveals that crude assumption of prior probability density function does not end up with an incorrect estimate of parameters except requiring longer time for the iterative process to converge.
This paper addresses vehicle routing planning in freight container transportation systems where a number of loaded containers are to be delivered to their destination places. The system under consideration is static in that all transportation requirements are predetermined at the beginning of a planning horizon. A two-phased procedure is presented for freight container transportation. In the first phase, the optimal model is presented to determine optimal total time to perform given transportation requirements and the minimum of number of vehicles required. Based on the results from the optimal model, in the second phase, ASA(Accelerated Simulated Annealing) algorithm is presented to perform all transportation requirements with the least number of vehicles by improving initial vehicle routing planning constructed by greedy method. It is found that ASA algorithm has an excellent global searching ability through various experiments in comparison with existing methods.
A driving vehicle performance which is driven by FTP-75 mode was simulated by computer. Throttle valve position, engine speed, air mass flow rate, fuel consumption et al. were computer simulated. A set of engine part load performance data, automatic transmission shift map and vehicle specifications were used for the computer simulation. Throttle valve position, engine speed, air mass flow rate et al. measured for evaluating the computer simulation results by driving the vehicle with FTP-75 mode on a chassis dynamometer. GT-Power$^{(R)}$ software was used for the computer simulation of the driving vehicle performance. Experimental fuel consumption rate was measured by using an ECU HILS fuel injection system. The experimental data and simulation results were compared. The computer simulation of the driving vehicle performance predicts the measured data well comparatively.
The wavelet analysis method is introduced in this paper to study the nonstationary vibration of vehicles. A new road model, a so-called time domain correlated four-wheel road roughness, which considers the coherence relationships between the four wheels of a vehicle, has been newly developed. Based on a vehicle model with eight degrees of freedom, the analysis of nonstationary random vibration responses was carried out in a time domain on a computer. Verification of the simulation results show that the proposed road model is more accurate than previous ones and that the simulated responses are credible enough when compared with some references. Furthermore, by taking wavelet analysis on simulated signals, some substantial rules of vehicle nonstationary vibration, such as the relationship between each vibration level, and how the vibration energy flows on a time-frequency map, beyond those from conventional spectral analysis, were revealed, and these will be of much benefit to vehicle design.

As the exterior noise emitted by a vehicle is getting more and more attention, simulated pass-by measurements become more important. This well established method provides information about the total noise emitted by the vehicle. For a vehicle manufacturer it is not only interesting to know about the total noise but also to know how this total exterior noise is composed of different contributions, such as for example the contribution of the engine, the intake or exhaust system. Transfer path analysis (TPA) provides a separation of these contributions for each of the pass-by microphones alongside the track. Presented is a method for fast and efficient determination of the contributions of multiple sources using operational transfer path analysis (OTPA). The calculation of the transfer characteristics between the reference measurement points on the vehicle and the corresponding response points of both microphone lines are carried out while operation of the vehicle. As result of the contribution analysis from operational transfer path analysis, the characteristic noise level as function of the covered distance is displayed for all individual sound sources, thus providing in depth information for sound quality engineering.

The objective of this research work is to develop an autonomous levee-weeding robot. In this paper, pathway control system for the robot is developed and simulated. A prototype autonomous vehicle for levee weeding is also developed and used in the actual test. The results obtained in this research work is summarized as follows; 1) The simulated typical time history of lateral displacements and heading angle of the vehicle in straight run shows that the vehicle tendency is always to achieve the target path from any of its deviated position and heading angle. 2) The test run on an asphalt surface by the prototype crawler-type vehicle is in good agreement with the simulation results.
Fuel-consumption and catalyst-out emissions of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle are affected by operating region of an engine. In many researches, It is generally known that it is profitable in fuel- consumption to operate engine in OOL(Optimal Operating Line). We established the mathematical model of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle, which is linear time-invariant. To operate an engine in OOL, we applied RHC(Receding Horizon Control) to the driving control of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle. And it is known that the RHC has advantages such as good tracking performance under state and control constraints. This RHC is obtained by using linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization. In this paper, there are three main topics. First, without state and control constraints, the optimal tracking of OOL was simulated. Second, with state and control constraints by engine and motor performances, the optimal tracking of OOL was simulated. In the last, we studied on the optimal gear ratio. That is to say, we combined the RHC and the iterative simulation to extract the optimal gear ratio. In this simulation, the vehicle is commanded to track the reference vehicle trajectory and the engine is operated in the optimal operating region which is made by the state constraints.

The brand sound of vehicle diesel engine is recently one of the important advantage strategies in the automotive company. Because various noise components masked under high frequency level can be audible in quieter driving situation. Many researches have been carried out for subjective and objective assessments on vehicle sounds and noises. In particular, the interior sound quality has been one of research fields that can give high quality feature to vehicle products. Vehicle interior noise above 500 Hz is usually controlled by sound package parts. The materials and geometries of sound package parts directly affect on this high frequency noise. This paper describes the sound quality evaluation method for the vehicle diesel engine noise to establish objective criteria for sound quality assessment. Considering the sensitivity of human hearing to impulsive sounds such as diesel noise, the human auditory mechanism was simulated by introducing temporal masking in the time domain. Furthermore, each of the human auditory organs was simulated by computer codes, providing reasonable analytical explanations of typical human hearing responses to diesel noise. This method finally provides the sound quality index of vehicle diesel engine noise that includes high frequency intermittent offensive sounds caused by impacting excitations of combustion and piston slap.
