  • In order to explane the stereotactic procedure, the three steps of the procedure (target localization, dose planning, and radiation treatment) must be examined separately. The ultimate accuracy of the full procedure is dependent on each of these steps and on the consistancy of the approach The concern in this article was about dose planning, which is a important factor to the success of radiation treatment. The major factor in dose planning is a dosimetry system to evaluate the dose delivered to the target and normal tissues in the patient, while it generates an optimal dose distribution that will satisfy a set of clinical criteria for the patient. A three-dimensional treatment planning program is a prerequisite for treatment plan optimization. It must cover 3-D methods for representing the patient, the dose distributions, and beam settings. The major problems and possible modelings about 3-D factors and optimization technique were discussed to simplify and solve the problems associatied with 3-D optimization, with relative ease and efficiency. These modification can simplify the optimization problem while saving time, and can be used to develop reference dose planning system to prepare standard guideline for the selection of optimum beam parameters, such as the target position, collimator size, arc spacing, the variation in arc length and weight. The method yields good results which can then be simulated and tailored to the individual case. The procedure needed for dose planning in stereotactic radiosurgery is shown in figure 1.

  • EMTP-RV is the very powerful program to analyze the dynamic operation of the power system. To use this package in the large complex power system, it is very important to simplify the power system to simple equivalent network. In our study the 100 MVA STATCOM is placed at 345kV "MIGUM" which is the one of the 345kV substations of the Korean Electric Power System that is consist of more than 1000-bus. MIGUM substation is connected with 7 separated transmission lines to main Korean Electric power system. We developed a new method to simplify the network except the substation that we want to analysis. The power system outside the 345kV substation is modeled into the equivalent network. The loop network outside the substation can be modeled to simplified Thevenin equivalent network. The proposed method is applied to IEEE-14 Reliability Test System and the results shows the effectiveness of the method.

  • The result of the line simplification algorithm varies with the choice of algorithms, the change in tolerance and the selection of target objects. Three of the algorithms used in this study are Sleeve-fitting, Visvalingam-Whyatt, and Bend-simplify. They were applied to the three kinds of objects which were buildings, rivers, and roads with the five degrees of the tolerance. Through this experiments the vector displacement, the areal displacement, and the angular displacement were measured and the qualitative analysis was performed with the trend line of the errors. The experimental results show that errors were differ from tolerance values, and characteristics of line simplification algorithms based on changes of tolerance were understood.

  • The mass-spring model has been typically employed in physical-based simulators for clothes or patches. The mass-spring model frequently utilizes equal mass and the gravity factor. The model structure of masses supports a shape applicable to fishing nets. Therefore, to create a simulation model of a fishing net, we consider the mass-spring model and adopt the tidal-current and buoyancy effects in underwater environments. These additional factors lead to a more realistic visualization of fishing-net simulations. In this paper, we propose a new mass-spring model for a fishing-net and a method to simplify the calculation equations for a real-time simulation of a fishing-net model. Our 3D mass-spring model presents a mesh-structure similar to a typical mass-spring model except that each intersection point can have different masses. The motion of each mass is calculated periodically considering additional dynamics. To reduce the calculation time, we attempt to simplify the mathematical equations that include the effect of the tidal-current and buoyancy. Through this research, we expect to achieve a real-time and realistic simulation for the fishing net.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) computer-aided design (CAD) models require different levels of detail (LODs) depending on their purpose. Therefore, it is beneficial to automatically simplify 3D CAD assembly models to meet the desired LOD. Feature-based 3D CAD assembly models typically have the lowest and highest feasible limits of LOD during simplification. In order to help users obtain a feasible simplification result, we propose a method to simplify feature-based 3D CAD assembly models by determining the lowest and highest limits of LOD. The proposed method is verified through experiments using a simplification prototype implemented as a plug-in type module on Siemens NX.

  • It is necessary to construct equipment catalog in ship outfitting design and offshore plant design. The three-dimensional CAD data of equipment take on different level-of-detail depending on the purpose. Equipment suppliers provide CAD data with high complexity while ship designers need CAD data with low complexity. Therefore, it is necessary to simplify CAD data. However, it takes much time to simplify them manually. To resolve the issue, a system for automatically simplifying the 3D CAD data of equipment was developed. This paper presents the architecture of the system and the implementation details. In addition, experiment result using the prototype system is explained.

  • Today 55 percent of the population in the world lives in urban areas which is expected to increase to 68 percent by the year 2050. In the cities, high-rise buildings as symbols of the modern cityscape are dominating the skylines, but the data to demonstrate their embodied energy and environmental impacts are scarce, compared to low- or mid-rise buildings. Reducing the embodied energy and environmental impacts of buildings is critical as about 42 percent of primary energy use and 39 percent of the global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from the building sector. However, it is an overlooked area in embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a widely used tool to quantify the embodied energy and environmental impacts of the building sector. LCA combined with Building Information Modeling (BIM) can simplify data acquisition of the building as well as provide both tools with feedback. Several studies recognize that the integration of BIM and LCA can simplify data acquisition of the building as well as provide tools with feedback. This article provides an overview of literature on BIM-based of embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings. It also compares with different LCA methodologies. Finally, major strategies to reduce embodied energy and environmental impacts of high-rise buildings, research limitations and trends in the field are covered.

  • In this paper, we develop an AI-based recommendation system that matches the specifications of smartphones from company 'S'. The system aims to simplify the complex decision-making process of consumers and guide them to choose the smartphone that best suits their daily needs. The recommendation system analyzes five specifications of smartphones (price, battery capacity, weight, camera quality, capacity) to help users make informed decisions without searching for extensive information. This approach not only saves time but also improves user satisfaction by ensuring that the selected smartphone closely matches the user's lifestyle and needs. The system utilizes unsupervised learning, i.e. clustering (K-MEANS, DBSCAN, Hierarchical Clustering), and provides personalized recommendations by evaluating them with silhouette scores, ensuring accurate and reliable grouping of similar smartphone models. By leveraging advanced data analysis techniques, the system can identify subtle patterns and preferences that might not be immediately apparent to consumers, enhancing the overall user experience. The ultimate goal of this AI recommendation system is to simplify the smartphone selection process, making it more accessible and user-friendly for all consumers. This paper discusses the data collection, preprocessing, development, implementation, and potential impact of the system using Pandas, crawling, scikit-learn, etc., and highlights the benefits of helping consumers explore the various options available and confidently choose the smartphone that best suits their daily lives.
