The aim of the present study was to investigate a simile comprehension of children with and without mental retardation. Thirteen children with mental retardation and ten normal children with matched receptive vocabulary ability participated in the study. They were between five and eight years old in the age of receptive vocabulary. Fourteen picture plates were used and each plate consisted of three pictures. The findings were as fellows. First, children with mental retardation made significantly more errors than normal children in the comprehension of simile. Second, mental retarded children and normal children did not have a significant correlation between receptive vocabulary development and comprehension of simile. Finally, on simile interpretation type, children with mental retardation were likely to think a tenor into a vehicle because they failed to recognize the syntactic structure of simile, 'A is like B'. Thus, It is important to teach mental retarded children the syntactic structures of simile and to provide them with a variety of experience as well as to let them know an exact meaning of words.

The morphogenesis of the marine ciliate, Pelagostrobilidium simile Song and Bradbury, 1998, was investigated using pyridine silver carbonate impregnation. The morphogenesis of P. simile is of hypoapokinetal mode. The oral primordium of P. simile commences slightly below the external membranelles (EM) with the proliferation of an anarchic field. Somatic ciliature in proter and opisthe of P. simile are derived from the old structure with the proliferation of the basal bodies during the dividing process. Parental oral apparatus of P. simile is inherited by the proter, and no reorganization of oral apparatus was observed in the parental oral infraciliature.

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of similarity in the metaphor and simile preference and offer empirical evidence against the equivalence view of simile and metaphor. This evidence was obtained from two experiments to examine the correlation between the similarity ratings and the preference ratings. The results suggest that Korean people choose the metaphor form when the similarity of a target and a source increases, whereas they choose the simile form when the similarity of a target and a source decreases. The results from these experiments are consistent with Chiappe and Kennedy's (1999, 2001) findings. Moreover, the experiments found that Korean people were more likely to express particular comparisons as similes over metaphors than American people.

Talipariti simile (Blume) Fryxell, Malvaceae is reported as new record from Vietnam. The plant can be differentiated from its allied species T. macrophyllum (Roxb. ex Hornem.) Fryxell in having glabrescent stems with purplish and smaller hairs, lanceolate-oblong and smaller stipules and ovoid capsules which are devoid of apicule or beaks. Taxonomic description, line drawing and color photographs have been provided to add to the species identification. Furthermore, comparison of the diagnostic characters between this species and the above mentioned related species is made.

This paper is introducing on a strategy of storytelling which is utilized as a core skill in developing cultural contents. The proposed storytelling method consists of three steps(planning, production, editing). The method of storytelling strategy is based on rhetoric metaphors and classifies rhetoric metaphors into three kinds of image metaphor, image personification and image simile. This thesis produced and studied 3 visual-image contents including 1 metaphor, 1 personification and 1 simile. As a result, visual-image contents can be a resonable method of the communicational act of visual-image contents with a rhetoric expression. This result will contribute to recognize the possibility of expressing visual-image contents by various figure. Recently, there are a lot of concernments on the expression by creative visual-image contents, but a theoretical study on creative idea for visual-image contents is insufficient. So, in the future, this thesis will be used for basic materials to express a creative visual-image contents, and also contribute to offering basic theories for visual-image contents study and teaching.

일반적으로 악골의 흡수가 심한 환자에게 총의치 보철물은 적은 유지력 때문에 매우 불리하다. 특히, 하악골의 흡수가 심한 환자의 경우 2$\sim$4 정도의 임플란트를 식립후에 제작되는 stud type의 over-denture나 bar-over denture 또는 magnetic over-denture 등이 있고, 5$\sim$6개 정도의 임플란트 식립으로 제작되는 fixed removable bridge가 환자에게 높은 만족감을 줄 수 있어 총의치 보철 치료시 고려해야 할 보철 치료 방법중의 하나이다. fixed removable bridge를 제작하는데 있어 먼저 placement guide를 이용하여 모델의 임플란트의 위치와 구강내의 임플란트의 위치를 반드시 확인해야 하고, 구조물을 만들기 전에 wax denture를 제작하여 환자의 simile line 이나 악간 관계를 확인 후에 구조물 제작을 해야 한다.

The surface enhanced Raman spectrum of juglone, a traditional natural dye, has been observed by a custom-built micro-Raman setup. The spectral features of juglone significantly differ from those of lawsone, a structural isomer of juglone; only small red shifts of the double bond stretching bands are observed, and strong SERS bands are observed in the lower frequency regions as well. The DFT computations reveal that juglone coordinated to an $Ag^+$ adatom with $H^+$ release best correlates with the observed vibrational characteristics in the SERS spectrum among the plausible configurations of juglone coordinated to an adatom on the Ag surface, in line with the previously studied lawsone case. The differences in the SERS spectra of juglone and lawsone are attributed to the different locations of the hydroxyl group in the two isomers.

Nature is suiting to the objective of oneself, structurally safe and functional. It continues to transform itself into various forms and has aesthetic beauty. By analyzing how nature's organic property has been expressed in different cases of furniture design, which has objective purpose, this research presents designing pathway to induce nature's organic oder into the furniture design. Simile expression type clearly shows its form through exposing the natural material that it is made out of. Visually, esthetic beauty can be emphasized and mentally it can provide pleasantness. Metaphorical expression type only hints the original material that was used to reproduce. Under the same condition it can have subjective perception and it needs to be used suitably at the right place and time. Abstract expression type it might be hard to recognize the original material visually since it went through many transformation in expression, however it can stage extreme and mysterious atmosphere. Furniture designs employing these three types can have functionality as well as decorative and serve variety of change in the existing uniformed interior space, and it can also satisfy individual's need with practicality and provide aesthetic beauty.

In this paper, I propose that the figurative structure of Tongjoo Yoon′s "One Night, Counting the Stars" reflects the poet′s anguish over the colonial reality of Korea in the later stages of the Japanese occupation, especially regarding the forced adoption of Japanese names in 1939. The poet Yoon himself registered at Yonhi College with an adopted Japanese name. In the second half of the poem, the speaker alludes to this historical fact when he confesses that "On a hill lit by myriads of stars / I spelled my name / And covered it over with dirt," and that he "laments (his) shameful name." In the simile of the last stanza, the speaker continues to allude to the "buried" name: "But past winter, come spring to my star, / As green grass sprouts on a grave mound, / So will it spread with pride / On the hill where my name is buried." The longing and the yearning, expressed so simply and in child-like manner in the first half of the poem, become in the second half an urgent need for something that should have been but cannot be, and yet will be in the future-for a world that should be, now lost but to be regained. The poem contains the poet′s earnest belief that the inherited Korean names that were then so shamefully taken away will one day be recovered. It is almost impossible to find any other work written in Korean (despite the most suppressive measures against the use of the Korean language) that also alludes to the adoption of Japanese names. In this respect, "One Night, Counting the Stars" has a unique value in the history of modem Korean literature.

Biomorphic architecture makes the realization of simile form using the procedural principle represented by in natural phenomena.
