Many research of hand gesture recognition based on vision system have been conducted which enable user operate various electronic devices more easily. 3D position calculation and meaningful gesture classification from similar gestures should be executed to recognize hand gesture accurately. A simple and cost effective method of 3D position calculation and gesture spotting (a task to recognize meaningful gesture from other similar meaningless gestures) is described in this paper. 3D position is achieved by calculation of two cameras relative position through pan/tilt module and a marker regardless with the placed position. Fuzzy garbage model is proposed to provide a variable reference value to decide whether the user gesture is the command gesture or not. The reference is achieved from fuzzy command gesture model and fuzzy garbage model which returns the score that shows the degree of belonging to command gesture and garbage gesture respectively. Two-stage user adaptation is proposed that off-line (batch) adaptation for inter-personal difference and on-line (incremental) adaptation for intra-difference to enhance the performance. Experiment is conducted for 5 different users. The recognition rate of command (discriminate command gesture) is more than 95% when only one command like meaningless gesture exists and more than 85% when the command is mixed with many other similar gestures.
The general solution for classification and regression problems can be found by matching and modifying matrices with the information in real world and then these matrices are teaming in neural networks. This paper treats primary space as a real world, and dual space that Primary space matches matrices using kernel. In practical study, there are two kinds of problems, complete system which can get an answer using inverse matrix and ill-posed system or singular system which cannot get an answer directly from inverse of the given matrix. Further more the problems are often given by the latter condition; therefore, it is necessary to find regularization parameter to change ill-posed or singular problems into complete system. This paper compares each performance under both classification and regression problems among GCV, L-Curve, which are well known for getting regularization parameter, and kernel methods. Both GCV and L-Curve have excellent performance to get regularization parameters, and the performances are similar although they show little bit different results from the different condition of problems. However, these methods are two-step solution because both have to calculate the regularization parameters to solve given problems, and then those problems can be applied to other solving methods. Compared with UV and L-Curve, kernel methods are one-step solution which is simultaneously teaming a regularization parameter within the teaming process of pattern weights. This paper also suggests dynamic momentum which is leaning under the limited proportional condition between learning epoch and the performance of given problems to increase performance and precision for regularization. Finally, this paper shows the results that suggested solution can get better or equivalent results compared with GCV and L-Curve through the experiments using Iris data which are used to consider standard data in classification, Gaussian data which are typical data for singular system, and Shaw data which is an one-dimension image restoration problems.
Development of the digital technology made possible the Integrated media that is combined computer with information network technology. Integrated media is the data transferring method through the multimedia, and has been developed by the similar form with the human's information transferring system. For that reason, interface has been developed as the important theme, Human Computer Interaction, according to the formal development. Using interface is not activated yet for the lack of connection with various divisions and the system of the product development although interfaces formatic development is re-arranged and re-established in design. This is the try to construct new model of the interface by re-arrange of the factors for the information transferring form development on the ground of the mp3 service vending machine development. Interface is divided into logical I formatic and hardware I software for he systematic classification and also arranged so that anybody can understand. Consequently, presenting of the new integrated interface paradigm can make possible to suggest the fundamental framework that is the new direction of the design re-arranged by the integrated media.
This study attempted to suggest the factors that facilities that aim to exchange urban-rural coexistence base spaces with urban-rural areas should have. In order to derive factors, 15 literatures preceded by similar studies were investigated, and systematic classification was attempted. Finally, the factors for activating urban and rural base facilities were organized into 3 categories, 9 sectors, and 30 activation factors. The three major categories consisted of resources and facilities, content and programs, operational status. As a result of the AHP survey, in the survey area, which is a categories, resources and facilities composed of hardware factors originally possessed by the facility showed the highest score of 48.9. In the sectors, the convenience of facility use was 25.7 points, and the rich state of tangible and intangible resources was 13.3 points in order. In the sectors, income from paid experience programs at facilities was 8.3 points, physical accessibility to facilities was 8.2 points, and the type of areas where the facilities were located was 7.7 points in order. It showed high importance in the order of resources and facilities composed of hardware factors, content and programs composed of software factors, and manpower and operation composed of humanware factors. This study analyzed the fire intensity according to the zones classification between traditional market stores using FDS software. Modeling was conducted for the Seomoon traditional market district 4 at Daegu, which places combustibles, such as textiles and clothing near the passageway. The first ignition point assumed a short circuit fire situation at the fourth store combustible. The analysis was conducted under similar conditions as the fire situation in 2016. When there was no section wall, the fire spread rapidly through radiation in all directions from the fire-origin point. After 600 seconds, the mall was burnt to the ground. When section walls were present, however, the fire could be restricted inside the compartment. The first intensity of the two analysis conditions was predicted from the total heat energy from 200 seconds (X1) to 600 seconds (X2), where the heat generation rate began to increase rapidly. As a result of installing section walls near the fire point, heat energy generation of approximately 11.12 MW (55.68 %) was delayed. Further analysis of smoke control, according to the section wall arrangement and re-installation facilities, will be needed to study the characteristics of fire in traditional markets comprehensively.

Since insects play important roles in existence of plants and other animals in the natural environment, they are considered as necessary biological resources from the perspectives of those biodiversity conservation and national utilization strategy. For the conservation and utilization of insect species, an observational learning environment is needed for non-experts such as citizens and students to take interest in insects in the natural ecosystem. The insect identification is a main factor for the observational learning. A current time-consuming search method by insect classification is inefficient because it needs much time for the non-experts who lack insect knowledge to identify insect species. To solve this problem, we proposed an smart phone-based insect identification inference system that helps the non-experts identify insect species from observational characteristics in the natural environment. This system is based on the similarity between the observational information by an observer and the biological insect characteristics. For this system, we classified the observational characteristics of insects into 27 elements according to order, family, and species, and proposed similarity indexes to search similar insects. In addition, we developed an insect identification inference prototype system to show this study's viability and performed comparison experimentation between our system and a general insect classification search method. As the results, we showed that our system is more effective in identifying insect species and it can be more efficient in search time.
Abstract With an extended use of computers, we can easily generate and collect data. There is a need to acquire useful knowledge from data automatically. In data mining the acquired knowledge needs to be both accurate and comprehensible. In this paper, we propose an efficient fuzzy rule generation algorithm based on fuzzy decision tree for data mining. We combine the comprehensibility of rules generated based on decision tree such as ID3 and C4.5 and the expressive power of fuzzy sets. Particularly, fuzzy rules allow us to effectively classify patterns of non-axis-parallel decision boundaries, which are difficult to do using attribute-based classification methods. In our algorithm we first determine an appropriate set of membership functions for each attribute of data using histogram analysis. Given a set of membership functions then we construct a fuzzy decision tree in a similar way to that of ID3 and C4.5. We also apply genetic algorithm to tune the initial set of membership functions. We have experimented our algorithm with several benchmark data sets including the IRIS data, the Wisconsin breast cancer data, and the credit screening data. The experiment results show that our method is more efficient in performance and comprehensibility of rules compared with other methods including C4.5.

Prostate cancer is one of the most frequent cancers in men and is a major cause of mortality in the most of countries. In many diagnostic and treatment procedures for prostate disease, transrectal ultrasound(TRUS) images are being used because the cost is low. But, accurate detection of prostate boundaries is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noises and the short range of gray levels. This paper proposes a method for automatic prostate segmentation in TRUS images using its average shape model and invariant features. This approach consists of 4 steps. First, it detects the probe position and the two straight lines connected to the probe using edge distribution. Next, it acquires 3 prostate patches which are in the middle of average model. The patches will be used to compare the features of prostate and nonprostate. Next, it compares and classifies which blocks are similar to 3 representative patches. Last, the boundaries from prior classification and the rough boundaries from first step are used to determine the segmentation. A number of experiments are conducted to validate this method and results showed that this new approach extracted the prostate boundary with less than 7.78% relative to boundary provided manually by experts.

This study developed a chatbot for first-year high school students, employing open-source software and the Korean Sentence-BERT model for AI-powered document classification. The chatbot utilizes the Sentence-BERT model to find the six most similar Q&A pairs to a student's query and presents them in a carousel format. The initial dataset, built from online resources, was refined and expanded based on student feedback and usability throughout over the operational period. By the end of the 2023 academic year, the chatbot integrated a total of 30,819 datasets and recorded 3,457 student interactions. Analysis revealed students' inclination to use the chatbot when prompted by teachers during classes and primarily during self-study sessions after school, with an average of 2.1 to 2.2 inquiries per session, mostly via mobile phones. Text mining identified student input terms encompassing not only science-related queries but also aspects of school life such as assessment scope. Topic modeling using BERTopic, based on Sentence-BERT, categorized 88% of student questions into 35 topics, shedding light on common student interests. A year-end survey confirmed the efficacy of the carousel format and the chatbot's role in addressing curiosities beyond integrated science learning objectives. This study underscores the importance of developing chatbots tailored for student use in public education and highlights their educational potential through long-term usage analysis.

The ReLU(Rectified Linear Unit) function has been dominantly used as a standard activation function in most deep artificial neural network models since it was proposed. Later, Leaky ReLU, Swish, and Mish activation functions were presented to replace ReLU, which showed improved performance over existing ReLU function in image classification task. Therefore, we recognized the need to experiment with whether performance improvements could be achieved by replacing the RELU with other activation functions in the super resolution task. In this paper, the performance was compared by changing the activation functions in EDSR model, which showed stable performance in the super resolution task. As a result, in experiments conducted with changing the activation function of EDSR, when the resolution was converted to double, the existing activation function, ReLU, showed similar or higher performance than the other activation functions used in the experiment. When the resolution was converted to four times, Leaky ReLU and Swish function showed slightly improved performance over ReLU. PSNR and SSIM, which can quantitatively evaluate the quality of images, were able to identify average performance improvements of 0.06%, 0.05% when using Leaky ReLU, and average performance improvements of 0.06% and 0.03% when using Swish. When the resolution is converted to eight times, the Mish function shows a slight average performance improvement over the ReLU. Using Mish, PSNR and SSIM were able to identify an average of 0.06% and 0.02% performance improvement over the RELU. In conclusion, Leaky ReLU and Swish showed improved performance compared to ReLU for super resolution that converts resolution four times and Mish showed improved performance compared to ReLU for super resolution that converts resolution eight times. In future study, we should conduct comparative experiments to replace activation functions with Leaky ReLU, Swish and Mish to improve performance in other super resolution models.
