PIV를 이용한 직렬배열에서 2원주 주위의 유동장 특성 연구 (The Characteristic Investigation of the Flowfield around Two Circular Cylinders in the Tandem Arrangement Using the PIV)

  • The Characteristics of the flowfield around two circular cylinders in tandem arrangement was investigated by PIV. Strouhal numbers. velocity vectors and velocity profiles were observed at centre-to-centre space ratios of P/D= 1.5. 2.0 and 2.5, and Reynolds number of $Re=3.0{\times}10^3{\sim}5.0{\times}10^3$. As the results the Strouhal numbers measured in the rear region of the cylinder of wake side were decreased with the space ratios. The flow between two cylinders was almost stagnated and the size of the stagnated region was larger in the close side than in the far side of the front cylinder. The direction of vortex between two cylinders was opposed each other with the small difference(${\alpha}\;{\pm}1.0^{\circ}$) of the attack angle ${\alpha}$.

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular, manufacturing process and new materials development for solving the fatigue fracture problem attendant upon high strength of suspension of automobile are actively advanced. In this paper, the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in high temperatures($100^{\circ}C,\;150^{\circ}C,\;180^{\circ}C$) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. So, we can obtain followings. (1) Compressive residual stress is decreased in high temperature, that is, with increasing temperature. (2) The effect of compressive residual stress on fatigue crack growth behavior in high temperature is increased below ${\Delta}K=17{\sim}19MPa\sqrt{m}$. The fatigue crack growth rate is increased with increasing temperature. The fatigue life is decreased with increasing temperature. (3) The dependence of temperature and compressive residual stress on the parameters C and m in Paris' law formed the formulas such as equations (3),(4),(5),(6),(7),(8),(9),(10). (4) It was investigated by SEM that the constraint of compress residual stress for plastic zone of fatigue crack tip was decreased in high temperature as compared with room temperature.

  • 최근, 서울시는 기존 서부간선도로의 극심한 교통정체 문제 해결을 위하여 연장 10.91 km에 달하는 새로운 소형차 전용 지하도로를 계획하였으며, 국내최초로 복층터널 형식을 적용하였다. 새로 건설될 서부간선 지하도로가 밀집한 도심지의 대심도 지하공간에 계획되므로, 인명피해 최소화를 위한 환기 및 방재계획이 중요한 문제로 대두되었으며, 본 고에서는 도심지 대심도 초장대 터널내 설비 및 안전시설에 관한 주요계획을 소개하고자 한다.

이중 박동형 생명구조장치의 혈류, 혈압, 박동성의 분석 (Analysis on the Blood F1ow, Pressure and Pulsatility of a Dual Pulsatile Extracorporeal Life Support)

  • Previous trials for development of a pulsatile-Extracorporeal Life Support had some defects such as insufficient blood flow, high pressure at its membrane oxygenator and the high risk of blood cell damage. To solve those problems of previous pulsatile-ECLSs, we suggest dual pulsatile blood pump structure for the new pulsatile-ECLS. Two pulsatile pumps areconnected in a parallel manner and this new structure raises the inflow capacity and efficiency and it decreases the high blood pressure at membrane oxygenator. In in-vitro experiments, The Energy Equivalent Pressure Increment(EEP inc.) was 10%, and it showed that its pulsatilty was $5{\sim}10$ times higher than other commercial ECLS In in-vivo experiments, we had applied a new pulsatile-ECLS to 30 Kg pigs and a new pulsatile-ECLS couldsupport high blood flow and pulsatility above 2 L/min, 10% EEP inc.

  • The characteristics of the flowfield of a square prism having fences on the corner was investigated by the PIV. Strouhal numbers, velocity vectors and velocity profiles around the square prism were observed at various positions of the fences, and Reynolds number of $Re=0.6{\times}10^4{\sim}1.0{\times}10^4$. As the results in case of the prism having fences the Strouhal numbers were all smaller than in case of the prototype prism. In case of the prism having vertical fences on the front corners the concentrated intensity of the vorticity was the strongest and the size of separated shear layer was the largest. While in case of the prism having vertical fences on the rear corners the concentrated intensity of the vorticity was the weakest and the size of separated shear layer was the smallest. Also in this case, the flow separated in front corner was reattached around the rear corner and made circulation.

THE ARCHES CLUSTER MASS FUNCTION

  • We have analyzed H and $K_s$-band images of the Arches cluster obtained using the NIRC2 instrument on Keck with the laser guide star adaptive optics (LGS AO) system. With the help of the LGS AO system, we were able to obtain the deepest ever photometry for this cluster and its neighborhood, and derive the background-subtracted present-day mass function (PDMF) down to $1.3M_{\bigodot}$ for the 5"-9" annulus of the cluster. We find that the previously reported turnover at $6M_{\bigodot}$ is simply due to a local bump in the mass function (MF), and that the MF continues to increase down to our 50 % completeness limit ($1.3M_{\bigodot}$) with a power-law exponent of ${\Gamma}$ = -0.91 for the mass range of 1.3 < M/$M_{\bigodot}$ < 50. Our numerical calculations for the evolution of the Arches cluster show that the ${\Gamma}$ values for our annulus increase by 0.1-0.2 during the lifetime of the cluster, and thus suggest that the Arches cluster initially had ${\Gamma}$ of $-1.0{\sim}-1.1$, which is only slightly shallower than the Salpeter value.

Structural damage detection in continuum structures using successive zooming genetic algorithm

  • This study utilizes the fine-tuning and small-digit characteristics of the successive zooming genetic algorithm (SZGA) to propose a method of structural damage detection in a continuum structure, where the differences in the natural frequencies of a structure obtained by experiment and FEM are compared and minimized using an assumed location and extent of structural damage. The final methodology applied to the structural damage detection is a kind of pseudo-discrete-variable-algorithm that counts the soundness variables as one (perfectly sound) if they are above a certain standard, such as 0.99. This methodology is based on the fact that most well-designed structures exhibit failures at some critical point due to manufacturing error, while the remaining region is free of damage. Thus, damage of 1% (depending on the given standard) or less can be neglected, and the search concentrated on finding more serious failures. It is shown that the proposed method can find out the exact structural damage of the monitored structure and reduce the time and amount of computation.

Benchmark Results on the Linearized Equations of Motion of an Uncontrolled Bicycle

  • In this paper we present the linearized equations of motion for a bicycle as a benchmark. The results obtained by pencil-and-paper and two programs are compared. The bicycle model we consider here consists of four rigid bodies, viz. a rear frame, a front frame being the front fork and handlebar assembly, a rear wheel and a front wheel, which are connected by revolute joints. The contact between the knife-edge wheels and the flat level surface is modelled by holonomic constraints in the normal direction and by non-holonomic constraints in the longitudinal and lateral direction. The rider is rigidly attached to the rear frame with hands free from the handlebar. This system has three degrees of freedom, the roll, the steer, and the forward speed. For the benchmark we consider the linearized equations for small perturbations of the upright steady forward motion. The entries of the matrices of these equations form the basis for comparison. Three diffrent kinds of methods to obtain the results are compared : pencil-and-paper, the numeric multibody dynamics program SPACAR, and the symbolic software system Auto Sim. Because the results of the three methods are the same within the machine round-off error, we assume that the results are correct and can be used as a bicycle dynamics benchmark.

볼엔드밀 가공의 칩두께 모델 해석 (Analysis of Chip Thickness Model in Ball-end Milling)

  • This paper describes a analysis on the chip thickness model required for cutting force simulation in ball-end milling. In milling, cutting forces are obtained by multiplying chip area to specific cutting forces in each cutting instance. Specific cutting forces are one of the important factors for cutting force predication and have unique value according to workpiece materials. Chip area in two dimensional cutting is simply calculated using depth of cut and feed, but not simply obtained in three dimensional cutting such as milling due to complex cutting mechanics. In ball-end milling, machining is almost performed in the ball part of the cutter and tool radius is varied along contact point of the cutter and workpiece. In result, the cutting speed and the effective helix angle are changed according to length from the tool tip. In this study, for chip thickness model analysis, tool and chip geometry are analyzed and then the definition of chip thickness and estimation method are described. The resulted of analysis are verified by compared with geometrical simulation and other research. The proposed chip thickness model is more precise.
