This research focuses on analyzing the problems of guideline signs, facilities and length of nature trails of Odaesan and Seoraksan national park, and aims to help the preservation of nature by increasing the efficiency of children's learning of nature by observing the usage of nature trails in the children's point of view. On-site research and questionnaire research took place in November 2008 and february 2008. Considering the contemporary problems, we have proposed the location change of guideline signs to be suitable for children and also the change of its design for children's increased attention.

Variable message signs (VMS) have the different sizes and a specific type according to the city scene and it has to be displayed by different message on the display panel in real-time. And VMS manufacturers must produce the different products in order to give a customized product to each order. In addition that, they should test and check the correct operation to each VMS product using the different message frame. That is very time and workers consuming and VMS emulator with an automatic variable message generator system is necessary. Also, the automatic message generator system is needed to real-time scheduling in order to display the message on the VMS panel like real world. In this paper, we design and implement the VMS emulator embedded the automatic message frame generator system with real-time scheduling which can set several parameters easily on the windows dialog.

Clean and well maintained roadway signs are important for preserving driver's safety. The existing signs on the roadway must be periodically re-painted in order to maintain clean state. However, current sign painting operations are manually performed now. These are very slow and workers are exposed to very dangerous and hazard working environment. In this paper, we present the method for automating this job with gantry robot and spray system. In addition, we suggest two design concepts to resolve the problem that it is impractical to make the gantry system so big as to cover whole lane width. In order to show the validity of this system, the painting operation is simulated and experimentally executed.

In this study and design, I explore the visual communication design process related to wayfinding in Wonkwang University Hospital in Iksan City. The purpose for designing an integrated is to graphically communicate the complex information. I have designed a graphic information system combining graphic elements such as typography, color, image and text layout, and graphic image to present interpretive and communicative processes. As a result of designing, the wayfinding is s term used to describe the program of applying environmental graphics and or architectural sign systems. In other words, wayfinding is the art of helping people find their way by utilizing visual communications such as signs, directories, landmarks, edges, paths and so on. Wayfinding can also be explained as the ability to know where one is in space and how to find one's way through space. Wayfinding design then becomes a systematic arrangement of the variables that allows patients and visitors to successfully find their desired destinations, especially in a hospital.

In the process of the sustainable development of the world economy, the change and construction of urban living environment has always been the focus of people's attention. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the potential safety hazards in residential areas, and put forward feasible improvement plans under the framework of CPTED theory.One is to collect the necessary literature. Secondly, according to the field investigation and questionnaire survey, sorting out the existing security risks. Finally, this paper puts forward the corresponding improvement and suggestion to this research. The conclusion is as follows: First, based on the six principles of CPTED theory, problems existing in Gamcheon Cultural Village, which is subject to research, were investigated. Second, six of the most serious safety issues (safety handle, landscaping, entrance control, signs, empty space, monitoring) were objectively analyzed, and designs were presented in terms of increasing safety stairs, installing automatic entrances, open access view, unifying signs, and building leisure areas.

본 연구의 목적은 고연령자를 대상으로 신체 활력 징후의 실시간 정보를 사용자가 스스로 파악 할 수 있는 '자가 헬스케어 제품'을 제안하는 것이다. 신체 활력 징후의 실시간 정보 표출을 위한 제품들의 사례 분석을 통해 기술적 요인과 표현 방법을 추출하고, '장착형 헬스 케어 제품'으로 모듈하기 위해 활용센서와 LED 표출방식에 대한 방법을 도출하였다. Vital Sign(활력 증후) 중 맥박의 실시간 정보는 맥박센서를 통해 추출 되며, 추출 된 정보는 Arduino로 작성 된 알고리즘을 통해 LED 불빛으로 전환 표출된다.

The design of truss type sign support structures is based on the guidelines provided by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Standard Specifications for Highway Signs, Luminaries and Traffic Signals and the American Institute of Steel Construction Design Specifications. Using these specifications, the column design strength is normally determined using the effective length approach. This approach does not always accurately address all issues associated with frame stability, including the actual end conditions of the individual members, variations of the loads in the members, and the resulting sidesway buckling for truss type sign support structures. This paper provides insight into the problems with the simplified design approach for determining the effective lengths and discusses different approaches for overcoming these simplifications. A system buckling approach, also known as a rational buckling analysis, is used in this study to determine improved predictions for design strength of truss type sign support structures.

Semiotics is an external expression for show-ing internal meaning, and the signs express the internal meaning. The architects and the designers are very similar each other in using semiotics for expressing their desires. Histori-cally, the design similarity exists between the architecture and the fashion. In this study, the fashion designs are interpreted by using semiotics of architectural design, especially emphasizing external expression methods for representing internal desires. To express the human body's character-istics, the volume, weight support, structural simplicity, controllability and beauty of fashion were used for the fashion designs, and those characters could be found at the architec-tural patterns. Balenciaga's fashion emphasized the volume, the weigh support, the structural simplicity and the controllability, while Roberto Capucci rejected the approach of using women's body curves, but used the volume and simplicity of natures in addition to Balenciaga's heavy weight design patterns. The control and the modern dedication were used to make the simple patterns by Courreges, and then brought the Modernism to the fashion. Courreges used the cutting characters to func-tional design for expressing the structural sim-plicity.

The communication in a play has a dual structure, which is composed of the communications within a play and in a theatre space. This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates theme of a play to the audience. A scene design of a theatre has meta-linguistic aspects, which is the image or mood as the theme of a play. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design languages have the significant meanings as signs like human language. The play works chooses the rhetorical expression to arouse the audience's sympathy. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre too. This research defines the category of meanings that design elements of scene design can create and the rhetorical expression of the scene design language. King Lear directed by Robert G. Anderson was analyzed with the category of design elements as a sign and the pattern of the rhetorical expression. The scene design for a play is completed effectively by the rhetorical expression of design elements as the design language for the communication with the audience in theatre.

The servicescape of a design hotel means the physical environment in which a service is produced and consumed. Servicescape refers to the comprehensive physical environment perceived by users and is composed of physical elements such as ambient conditions, space, function, signs, symbols and artifacts. For a successful operation of a design hotel, it is necessary to investigate the design hotel's servicescape types according to characteristics of design hotel's servicescape to provide various servicescape. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of servicescape on design hotel and analyze characteristics through the case study. A case study on Europe's design hotels to find various servicescape design methods was conducted. According to characteristics of design hotel the types, it is also categorized into four different types: history/tradition, art/culture, collaboration, locality. The case study demonstrated that European design hotels were making many efforts for their uniqueness and differentiation by considering the cultural and historical characteristics of their city and providing art and cultural space for their community. Design hotels in Korea should not only provide visitors with opportunities to have special experience through the nation's own culture and history but also serve as a place of community activities.
