  • In this paper, we propose a novel control signaling protocol that efficiently controls connection setup and increases the utilization of network resources. The proposed protocol, Separated Control Signaling Protocol(SCSP), separates bearer control from call control lot WDM optical networks. The main function of call control is to check the availability of network resources such as wavelengths and receivers at destination node. Bearer control is to reserve and assign wavelengths. The signaling architecture of this protocol consists of call controller and hearer controller The call controller handles call setup and release, activates the beater controller, and manages the status of call and bearer. The bearer controller reserves wavelengths, sets up bearer, tears down bearer. and notifies the status of beater to call controller. The state transition diagrams of each controller are designed. Using control messages and related primitives, the information flows for call setup and bearer setup, hearer teardown and call release, and reaction for setup failures are described to evaluate the performance. The simulation results show that the separated control signaling protocol is superior to conventional one in terms of call blocking probability and resource utilization.

  • The Network Mobility (NEMO) and IPv6 over Low power WPAN (6LoWPAN) protocols are the two most important technologies in current networking research and are vital for the future ubiquitous environment. In this paper, we propose a compressed packet header format to support the mobility of 6LoWPAN. Also, a Lightweight NEMO protocol is proposed to minimize the signaling overhead between 6LoWPAN mobile routers and 6LoWPAN gateways by using a compressed mobility header. Performance results show that our Lightweight NEMO protocol can minimize total signaling costs and handoff signaling delay.

  • The endpoints and exchanges involved in a call can establish heterogeneous connection each other according to required bandwidth and bearer availability in multimedia communication. and as participating users are increased, call setup delay must not be exceedingly increased. In this paepr, we propose DMMSP(distributed multiparty multiconnection signaling protocol) which can support heterogeneous connections and multimedia communications. DMMSP gets over a limitation of existing B-ISDN protocol and provides signaling capabilities to support various kinds of conncetions, and each endpint can setup individual connection with bearer availability. Moreover since DMMSP separatively performs call processing in distributed scheme, call setup delay can be minimized. We present call control procedures which can be applied to existing B-ISDN protocol and DMMSP respectively. We take multiparty multimedia conference call as an example thta is applied to the existing B-ISDN protocol and DMMSP, and compare and quantitatively analyze each procedures.

  • MTC(Machine Type Communications), providing a variety of services anytime and anywhere by connecting the cellular network to the machine and things without human intervention, is being considered as a major challenge of the next-generation communications. Currently, When a massive MTC devices simultaneously connect to the network, each MTC device needs an independent access authentication process. Because of this process, authentication signaling congestion and overload problems will cause in LTE-Advanced. In this paper, we propose a group-based authentication protocol and a key management protocol. For managing the MTC devices as group units, the proposed protocol elects a group leader and authentications only once with the core network. After the authentication is completed, a group leader manages the rest members and MME(Mobility Management Entity) by constructing a binary tree. Finally, the propose protocol analysis show that the proposed protocol not only can reduces the authentication signaling which generated in between the MTC devices and the core network but also can manages the MTC devices, efficiently.

  • As railway signaling system is computerized, the significance on safety demonstration and assessment has been increased. Therefore, railway signaling system should reflect the needs for safety assessment technique. Various studies on safety assessment technique for railway signaling have been made in Europe and standardization of the requirements for safety acceptance has been initiated by IEC. In order to develop and establish the safety assessment techniques for railway signaling in Korea, we try to review safety assessment activities for signaling system via reviewing relevant case studies and consulting with experts. And also we propose the safety assessment activity/methodology for Korean railway signaling system.

  • There are many economic and operational reasons to integrate fire alarm signaling system with other building automation system. Integration of this requires open network with for the standard communication protocol and careful design practices. The important point for this is also the development of intelligent control modules for replacing the conventional zone adapter in fire system. Therefore, this paper proposes an new conceptual design of the open distributed fire alarm signaling system for the integration of BAS, a new intelligent control modules with LonTalk protocol and a new control modules for power line communication. Newly proposed additions to LonWorks network make it very well suited for integrating fire systems with other building automation sub-systems and another BAS with low cost. Additionally, it is very important that best design practices, test procedures and building codes need to be modernized to accommodate integrated building systems.

  • The Network-based handover still has problems such as the transmission delays and the packet losses in the case of macro mobility, though technological advances have been made in the wireless and mobile communication. For end-to-end handover, the link bandwidth has been reduced in the wireless network due to its burst errors and congestion control. To overcome such problems, we propose a new scheme of the macro handover according to the protocol layer. The proposed macro handover is implemented on the network layer to partially substitute wired signaling for wireless signaling, to flexibly employ buffers, and on the transport layer to postpone its retransmission time. We have performed extensive simulation using ns-2 and the result shows that our proposed scheme outperforms the other existing schemes in terms of transmission delay, packet loss, and data transfer rate during the handovers.

  • This paper describes the network configuration, No. 7 signaling IS-41.A protocol and basic operations for the RFC(Remote Feature Control) service which is one of the supplementary services provided in the mobile telephone network. In order to solve the protocol error occurred while providing the RFC service for analog system, this paper suggests three schemes and analyse detail signal algorithm for the proposed schemes. Through the simulations, it is verified the best choice of the proposed schemes without the signaling procedure error.
