FeCoGe/페놀 복합체의 영률 측정 (Young's Modulus Measurement of FeCoGe/phenol Composites)

  • The magnetostriction of FeCoGe/phenol composites is measured under the external magnetic field. A few Measurement are carried out by using the electrical-resistance strain gage, the Wheaton Bridge for eliminating the unnecessary voltage, the lock-in-amplifier for the signal amplification and noise filtering. When the external magnetic field is applied to the longitudinal direction against those samples which is the 10wt.% phenol in composites, the theoretical maximum strain of 120ppm is obtained. According to the larger strain than that of others solid state actuators and piezoelectric actuators. FeCoGe/phenol composites could be useful as an actuator.

  • In this paper, a controller recognizing human gestures using EMG signal is shown. The tiny and band-type controller is developed for image training to excercise the specific area in the body, and uses a dry-type silver fiber electrode easy to be attached or detached itself to a skin. The captured EMG signals are converted to 10-bit digital values via amplification and frequency filtering processes within the controller, and are transmitted to the server by wireless. As the gesture recognition ratio using the proposed controller on biceps is up to 80%, we expect the practical potential of the controller is very promising.

  • This paper deals with a Z-source active power filter(Z-AFU) for mitigation voltage THD(total harmonic distortion) due to voltage harmonic propagation(amplification) in 6.6kv power distribution system. Bus voltage harmonic signal is detected by 60Hz butterworth BPF(band pass filter). As an ESS(energy storage system) of the proposed system, PEM fuel cells(Ballard NEXA, 1.2kw) is employed. Test results based on PSIM(power electronics simulation tool) validate the proposed approach.

열선을 이용한 혼합기체의 농도와 유량의 측정 (Measurement of Gas Concentration and flow Rate Using Hot Wire)

  • A measurement device for gas concentration and flow rate using hot wire is developed for the utilization in industrial applications. The device has two cells of measuring and reference, and a bridge circuit is installed to detect electric current through the hot wire in the cells. An amplification of the signal and conversion to digital output are conducted for the on-line measurement with a personal computer. The flow rate of air and carbon dioxide gas is separately measured for the performance examination of the device. Also, the concentration of air-carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide-argon mixtures is determined for the same evaluation. The outcome of the performance test indicates that the accuracy and stability of the device is satisfactory for the purpose of industrial applications.

  • We proposed and demonstrated DC(direct current) optical current sensor based on Faraday effect for HVDC(high voltage direct current). The RIG((Bi1.3Gd0.43Y1.27)Fe5O12) was adopted as Faraday device because of its high Verdet constant and good thermal stability. The differential amplification scheme for signal processing was present. The sensor showed high linear response for the input current. Measurement range of the sensor was 0~200A and measurement error was less than 1%.

  • In this paper, a miniaturized sensor interface circuit for the respiration detection system is proposed. Respiratory diagnosis is one of the main ways to predict various diseases. The proposed system consists of respiration detection sensor, temperature sensor, and interface circuits. Electrochemical type gas sensor using solid electrolytes is adopted for respiration detection. Proposed system performs sensing, amplification, analog-to-digital conversion, digital signal processing, and i2c communication. And also proposed system has a small form factor and low-cost characteristics through optimization and miniaturization of the circuit structure. Moreover, technique for sensor degradation compensation is introduced to obtain high accuracy. The size of proposed system is about 1.36 cm2.

Gene Expression of Arginine Vasotocin in Ovarian and Uterine Tissues of the Chicken

  • The hypothalamus is the classic site of synthesis of arginine vasotocin as neurohypophyseal hormone in the chicken. However, high concentrations of arginine vasotocin were also measured in ovarian tissues by radioimmunoassay. At first, we observed specific positive signal of mRNA encoding AVT in the hypothalamus by Northern hybridization. However, we could not find any specific bands in ovarian and uterine tissues. For evidence of transcription of the arginine vasotocin gene ingonadal tissues of the chicken, this study has applied the polymerase chain reaction as a highly sensitive assay. The hypothalamus, the four largest preovulatory ovarian follicles and the shell gland (uterus) were collected at 4 h and 20 h before oviposition. The ovarian follicular tissues were separated into granulose theca interns and theca externa layers. The uterine tissues were separated into myometrium and endometrium The extracted mRNA was converted to cDNA by reverse-transcriptase using oligo-$d(T)_{15}$ primer. Then, the cDNA was amplified by Vent polymerase and arginine vasotocin specific primers. The amplification reaction was incubated by 30 cycles successively, $95^{\circ}C$, $55^{\circ}C$ and $72^{\circ}C$ earth for 1 min. Te comparisons of the mRNA levels encoding arginine vasotocin between the tissues were determined by semi-quantification methods. After amplification of the cDNA, the PCR products were detected in hypothalamus, ovarian tissues and uterine tissues. The results of semi-quantification showed that the levels of arginine vasotocin mRNA in ovarian iud uterine tissues were about from 1/50 to 1/1000 when compared to that in the hypothalamus. The very low levels of mRNA encoding arginine vasotocin in ovarian and uterine tissues probably led us to conclude that arginine vasotocin may play a role of local mediate acting autocrine and/or paracrine.

Novel Peptide Nucleic Acid Melting Array for the Detection and Genotyping of Toxoplasma gondii

  • Despite differences in virulence between strains of Toxoplasma gondii, rapid and accurate genotyping methods are lacking. In this study, a method was developed to detect and genotype T. gondii in food and environmental samples using PCR and a novel peptide nucleic acid (PNA) melting array. An alignment of genome sequences for T. gondii type I, II, and III obtained from NCBI was generated, and a single nucleotide polymorphism analysis was performed to identify targets for PCR amplification and a PNA melting array. Prior to the PNA melting array, conventional PCR was used to amplify GRA6 of T. gondii. After amplification, the PNA melting array was performed using two different PNA hybridization probes with fluorescent labels (FAM and HEX) and quenchers. Melting curves for each probe were used to determine genotypes and identify mutations. A 214-bp region of the GRA6 gene of T. gondii was successfully amplified by PCR. For all T. gondii strains (type I, II, and III) used to evaluate specificity, the correct genotypes were determined by the PNA melting array. Non-T. gondii strains, including 14 foodborne pathogens and 3 protozoan parasites, such as Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium parvum, and Entamoeba histolytica, showed no signal, suggesting that the assay has a high specificity. Although this is only a proof-of-concept study, the assay is promising for the fast and reliable genotyping of T. gondii from food and environmental samples.

마이크로웨이브 수신기용 광대역 RF 증폭기 설계 및 제작 (Design and Implementation of Broadband RF Amplifier for Microwave Receiver)

  • 본 논문은 마이크로웨이브 수신기 구성을 위한 광대역 RF 증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였다. 제안한 광대역 RF 증폭기는 수신된 신호의 안정적인 증폭을 위하여 소스단자에 연결되는 비아까지 EM설계를 하였으며, 능동소자의 소오스(Source) 측이 이상적인 접지(GND)로 동작함에 따라 발진하는 요소를 최소화 하여 광대역에서 일정한 이득 특성 및 안정적인 증폭특성을 얻도록 하였다. 상용 GaAs FET를 사용하고, 광대역 마이크로웨이브 수신기의 IF 주파수 대역인 720 MHz, 4,595 MHz와 6,035 MHz에서 동작하도록 입력 및 출력 정합회로를 구성하였다. 제작 및 측정결과 500 MHz ~ 7 GHz의 광대역 특성을 나타내었으며, 전압이득은 737.5 MHz에서 6.0575 GHz까지 10.635 dB ~ 13.129 dB, 기본파와 제2차 고조파 사이에서 20 dBc 이상의 고조파 억압특성을 나타내었다.
