A Novel Fast Open-loop Phase Locking Scheme Based on Synchronous Reference Frame for Three-phase Non-ideal Power Grids

  • Rapid and accurate phase synchronization is critical for the reliable control of grid-tied inverters. However, the commonly used software phase-locked loop methods do not always satisfy the need for high-speed and accurate phase synchronization under severe grid imbalance conditions. To address this problem, this study develops a novel open-loop phase locking scheme based on a synchronous reference frame. The proposed scheme is characterized by remarkable response speed, high accuracy, and easy implementation. It comprises three functional cascaded blocks: fast orthogonal signal generation block, fast fundamental-frequency positive sequence component construction block, and fast phase calculation block. The developed virtual orthogonal signal generation method in the first block, which is characterized by noise immunity and high accuracy, can effectively avoid approximation errors and noise amplification in a wide range of sampling frequencies. In the second block, which is the foundation for achieving fast phase synchronization within 3 ms, the fundamental-frequency positive sequence components of unsymmetrical grid voltages can be achieved with the developed orthogonal signal construction strategy and the symmetrical component method. The real-time grid phase can be consequently obtained in the third block, which is free from self-tuning closed-loop control and thus improves the dynamic performance of the proposed scheme. The proposed scheme is adaptive to severe unsymmetrical grid voltages with sudden changes in magnitude, phase, and/or frequency. Moreover, this scheme is able to eliminate phase errors induced by harmonics and random noise. The validity and utility of the proposed scheme are verified by the experimental results.

Escherichia coli에서의 Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)의 acetyl xylan esterase 발현 양상 (Expression Pattern of Acetyl Xylan Esterase of Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) in Escherichia coli)

  • streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)의 acetyl xylan esterase 유전자를 Escherichia coli께 클로닝하여 그 발현양상을 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 유전자 전체 DNA를 PCR증폭을 통하여 제조하였다. PCR산물의 염기서열을 분석한 결과 1,008개의 nucleotide로 구성된 하나의 open reading frame이 존재함을 확인하였고, 이것은 335개의 아미노산으로 이루어진 약 38 kDa의 단백질을 생성할 것으로 예측할 수 있었다. 이 유전자의 염기 서열은 streptomyces lividans의 acetyl xylan esterase와 98%의 상동성을 가졌다. 그런데 Escherichia coli (pLacl)에서 IPTG유도에 의해 두가지의 acetyl xylan esterase가 발현되었으며 각각의 분자량은 38 kDa과 34 kDa이었다. 이중에서 38 kDa의 단백질은 N-말단의 signal peptide를 포함한 전체 단백질이고,34 kDa의 단백질은 41번과 42번의 두 알라닌 잔기사이의 펩티드 결합이 끊어져 생산된 것으로 추정되었다.

아마인 추출물의 AKT 신호 조절을 통한 콕사키바이러스 증식억제 (Extract of Linum usitatissimum L. inhibits Coxsackievirus B3 Replication through AKT Signal Modulation)

  • Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is a very well-known causative agent for viral myocarditis and meningitis in human. However, the effective vaccine and therapeutic drug are not developed yet. CVB3 infection activates host cell AKT signaling. Inhibition of AKT signaling pathway may attenuate CVB3 replication and prevent CVB3-mediate viral myocarditis. In this study, we determined antiviral effect of the selected natural plant extract to develop a therapeutic drug for CVB3 treatment. We screened several chemically extracted natural compounds by using HeLa cell-based cell survival assay. Among them, Linum usitatissimum L. extract was selected for antiviral drug candidate. L. usitatissimum extract significantly decreased CVB3 replication and cell death in CVB3 infected HeLa cells with no cytotoxicity. CVB3 protease 2A induced eIF4G1 cleavage and viral capsid protein VP1 production were dramatically decreased by L. usitatissimum extract treatment. In addition, virus positive and negative strand genome amplification were significantly decreased by 1 mg/ml L. usitatissimum extract treatment. Especially, L. usitatissimum extract was associated with inhibition of AKT signal and maintain mTOR activity. In contrast, Atg12 and LC3 expression were not changed by L. usitatissimum extract treatment. In this study, the potential AKT signal inhibitor, L. usitatissimum extract, was significantly inhibited viral genome replication and protein production by inhibition of AKT signal. These results suggested that L. usitatissimum extract is a novel therapeutic agent for treatment of CVB3-mediated diseases.

Helicobacter pylori vacA 대립유전자의 Mosaicism과 Signal Sequence의 한국고유 시발체 (Helicobacter pylori vacA Mosaicism and New Primers for vacA Signal Sequence Indigenous to Korea)

  • 목적: H. pylori의 vacA 대립유전자는 종족과 지역에 따라 다양하게 나타나고 있다. 저자들은 H. pylori에 감염된 소아의 위생검조직에서 vacA 대립 유전자에 대한 중합효소연쇄반응과 유전자염기분석을 실시하여 한국의 signal sequence와 mid-region의 다형성 및 고유의 시발체를 연구하고자 하였다. 방법: 상부 위내시경을 시행한 후 H. pylori 감염으로 진단된 10~18세 50명의 환아를 대상으로 위생검조직을 이용하여 vacA 대립유전자에 대한 PCR과 DNA 분석을 실시하였다. 이들 결과와 다른 나라의 vacA 대립유전자를 비교분석하였고 우리나라의 고유한 염기배열을 갖는 시발체를 제작하였다. 결과: 1) 서구의 시발체를 사용한 50명 중 30명(60%)에서 모두 s1이 검출되었고 이중 s1a가 14명, s1c 15명, s1a/s1c hybrid가 한 명이었으며 s1b는 발견되지 않았다. s1c/m1이 가장 많은 형이었다. 2) 우리 나라에 공통으로 발견되는 염기변이가 s1a에서는 GGGAGCGTTR, s1c는 GGGGYTATTG 이었으며 이들을 이용하여 새로운 시발체를 고안하였다(VASK-F, VASK-R, S1AK-F, S1CK-F). 새로이 제작된 시발체로 처음의 50개 조직을 재검한 결과 50개 모두에서 s region이 양성이었다. 결론: 우리 나라의 주된 vacA 대립유전자형조합은 s1c/m1이었고, vacA signal sequence의 한국 고유의 시발체를 만들었음을 보고하는 바이다.

Develoment of high-sensitivity wireless strain sensor for structural health monitoring

  • Due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of installation, wireless smart sensors (WSS) have received considerable recent attention for structural health monitoring of civil infrastructure. Though various wireless smart sensor networks (WSSN) have been successfully implemented for full-scale structural health monitoring (SHM) applications, monitoring of low-level ambient strain still remains a challenging problem for WSS due to A/D converter (ADC) resolution, inherent circuit noise, and the need for automatic operation. In this paper, the design and validation of high-precision strain sensor board for the Imote2 WSS platform and its application to SHM of a cable-stayed bridge are presented. By accurate and automated balancing of the Wheatstone bridge, signal amplification of up to 2507-times can be obtained, while keeping signal mean close to the center of the ADC span, which allows utilization of the full span of the ADC. For better applicability to SHM for real-world structures, temperature compensation and shunt calibration are also implemented. Moreover, the sensor board has been designed to accommodate a friction-type magnet strain sensor, in addition to traditional foil-type strain gages, facilitating fast and easy deployment. The wireless strain sensor board performance is verified through both laboratory-scale tests and deployment on a full-scale cable-stayed bridge.

Continuous Blood Pressure Monitoring using Pulse Wave Transit Time

  • In this paper, we describe the method of non-invasive blood pressure measurement using pulse wave transit time(PWTT). PWTT is a new parameter involved with a vascular that can indicate the change of BP. PWTT is measured by continuous monitoring of ECG and pulse wave. No additional sensors or modules are required. In many cases, the change of PWTT correlates with the change of BP. We measure pulse wave using the photo plethysmograph(PPG) sensor in an earlobe and we measure ECG using the ECG monitoring device our made in the chest. The measurement device for detecting pulse wave consists of infrared LED for transmitted light illumination, pin photodiode as light detector, amplifier and filter. We composed 0.5Hz high pass, 60Hz notch and 10Hz low pass filter. ECG measurement device consists of multiplexer, amplifier, filter, micro-controller and RF module. After amplification and filtering, ECG signal and pulse wave is fed through micro-controller. We performed the initial work towards the development of ambulatory BP monitoring system using PWTT. An earlobe is suitable place to measure PPG signal without the restraint in daily work. From the results, we can know that the dependence of PWTT on BP is almost linear and it is possible to monitoring an individual BP continuously after the individual calibration.

  • 용접부 내에 존재하는 결함의 형태, 위치, 크기 등의 정보를 정량적으로 파악하기 위하여 초음파 탐상 검사가 많이 활용되는데, 최근 들어 용접부의 결함 탐상을 위해, 검사과정을 기계적 스캐너로 자동화한 자동 초음파 탐상 시스템이 많은 산업 분야에서 활용되고 있고, 특히 배관 용접부의 건전성 평가를 위한 비파괴안전진단에서 그 활용 폭이 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 배관 용접부의 자동 초음파 검사를 위한 알고리즘 구현과 결함 영상을 보정하여 주는 결함영상 처리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. 적용된 기법으로는 초음파 A-Scan 압축 알고리즘, Synthetic Aperture Focusing 알고리즘, 결함영상증폭 알고리즘과 이와 관련된 소프트웨어 설계 및 구현에 대하여 논한다.

T-반사 응답의 분석을 위한 디지탈 신호 처리 시스템의 설계 (Design of a Digital Signal Processing System for Analysis of Tendon Reflex Response)

  • Tendon reflex responses generated from mechanical stimulus had been studied for quantitative analysis of activity of tendon reflex, especially patellar tendon reflex responses are known to be a criterion for diagnosing the L3 or L4 radiculopathy. In this paper, we developed a digital signal processing system for analysis of the tendon reflex response. The system parameter, i.e., $\textit{sampling frequency, pre-amplification gain, input channel and filter bank}$ are selected by Using software switches. From the view points of flexibility, the system hardware is connected to an IBM PC for analyzing the tendon reflex parameters, amplitude, latency duration We applied the proposed system to the analysis of the patellar tendon reflex reponses. In the experiment, we measured latency, duration, amplitude of the reflex action potentials generated from vastus medialis, vastus lateralis and rectus femoris that compose quadriceps, and the measured data are analyzed througll the ANOVA test which has 5% significant level. As a result, we showed that the mean amplitude of reflex action potential at the vastus lateralis is larger than any other muscle and the mean latency of the reflex action potential at the rectus femoris is shorter than any other muscle.

  • Er과 Yb이 첨가된 인산염 유리를 KNO3 응용액에 담구는 1단계 이온교환 공정을 통하여 채널 도파로를 제조하고자 하였다. 이온교환시 반응기 내부에 산소를 흘려줌으로서 인산염 유리의 열학한 화학적 내구성에서 비롯되는 유리 도파로 표면의 손상을 억제할 수 있었다. 제조된 도파로의 $1.5{\mu}m$ 신호광에 대한 증폭특성을 평가한 경과, 이온교환 공정 최적화 작업을 거친 45nm도파로의 경우, 2개의 980nm LD를 사용하는 양방향 펌핑시 160mW 파워에서 7.5dB의 순이득을 얻을 수 있었다.

Efficient key generation leveraging wireless channel reciprocity and discrete cosine transform

  • Key generation is essential for protecting wireless networks. Based on wireless channel reciprocity, transceivers can generate shared secret keys by measuring their communicating channels. However, due to non-simultaneous measurements, asymmetric noises and other interferences, channel measurements collected by different transceivers are highly correlated but not identical and thus might have some discrepancies. Further, these discrepancies might lead to mismatches of bit sequences after quantization. The referred mismatches significantly affect the efficiency of key generation. In this paper, an efficient key generation scheme leveraging wireless channel reciprocity is proposed. To reduce the bit mismatch rate and enhance the efficiency of key generation, the involved transceivers separately apply discrete cosine transform (DCT) and inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT) to pre-process their measurements. Then, the outputs of IDCT are quantified and encoded to establish the bit sequence. With the implementations of information reconciliation and privacy amplification, the shared secret key can be generated. Several experiments in real environments are conducted to evaluate the proposed scheme. During each experiment, the shared key is established from the received signal strength (RSS) of heterogeneous devices. The results of experiments demonstrate that the proposed scheme can efficiently generate shared secret keys between transceivers.
