  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the possibility to optimize the gated treatment delivery time and maintenance of stable respiratory by the introduction of breath with the assistance of auditory-visual-tactile sense. Materials and Methods: The experimenter's respiration were measured by ANZAI 4D system. We obtained natural breathing signal, monitor-induced breathing signal, monitor & ventilator-induced breathing signal, and breath-hold signal using real time monitor during 10 minutes beam-on-time. In order to check the stability of respiratory signals distributed in each group were compared with means, standard deviation, variation value, beam_time of the respiratory signal. Results: The stability of each respiratory was measured in consideration of deviation change studied in each respiratory time lapse. As a result of an analysis of respiratory signal, all experimenters has showed that breathing signal used both Real time monitor and Ventilator was the most stable and shortest time. Conclusion: In this study, it was evaluated that respiratory gated radiation therapy with auditory-visual-tactual sense and without auditory-visual-tactual sense feedback. The study showed that respiratory gated radiation therapy delivery time could significantly be improved by the application of video feedback when this is combined with audio-tactual sense assistance. This delivery technique did prove its feasibility to limit the tumor motion during treatment delivery for all patients to a defined value while maintaining the accuracy and proved the applicability of the technique in a conventional clinical schedule.

  • The increase of triglyceride in blood can be a signal of an increasing danger of arterial diseases when insulin resistance. diabetes. HDL -cholesterol decrease is accompanied. It is adjusted to triglyceride level in blood by a balance. which seems to be absorbed from VLDL metabolism in liver and by lipoprotein lipase activity. The hyper-triglyceride disease treatment proposal role should match with suppression does into liver or elimination of a triglyceride. (omitted)

  • Signal transduction refers to the processes by which cells perceive the environment and/or internal status. In many physiological responses, cellular signals are activated by the transducers attached to the cell surface plasma membrane in response to chemical modulators. Advances in information technology are required in the pharmaceutical sciences to screen and explore the potential therapeutic agents. (omitted)

  • A new restoration method of chest X-ray image (dual project filter) was proposed to improve SNR (signal to noise ratio) characteristics. In this method, a priori information of system and anatomical structure and statistics of projected object are used in the design of filter. Dual projection filter varies its parameters, adapting to the local regions of chest(lungregion, mediasternum, subdiaphragm) and the structure of chest (bone, tissue, blood vessel, bronchia). The performance of Dual Projection Filter was 0.1-0.2dB better than Dual Sensor Wiener Filter, which was used for initial estimate of Dual Porjection Filter.

  • To evaluate the contribution of cAMP/PKA signal pathway in short-term facilitation, we overexpressed Ap oal receptor in sensory neurons that do not normally express this receptor. We have previously shown that activation of this receptor in sensory cells, by a brief treatment with octopamine (OA), produced short-term facilitation such as membrane depolarization, increase in membrane excitability, spike broadening, and enhanced neurotransmitter release in non-depressed synapse.(omitted)

  • The most harmful nitrogenous compounds in fish-breeding place using are ammonia and nitrate. Excessively high total nitrogen concentration is the signal of unbalance for breeding fishes in seawater and may result overfeeding or overstocking without seawater treatment system. The failure of elimination for the organic ingredients or nitrogen compounds can also cause the consequence of inadequate oxygen concentration in seawater, either. The study shows the effect of biofilter and W disinfector of seawater in the fish- breeding place. In the results, these tools had ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and decreased 71.8%, 27.6% and 1%, respectively, and the total number of microorganisms decreased up to 81.9%.

  • Precise detection and modulation of electrical signal patterns passing through peripheral nerves connecting organs and brainstems, referred to as electroceuticals or bioelectronic medicines, have emerged as a new type of treatments for neural disorders and chronic diseases. With the rapid advancements in neural interface technologies, electroceuticals are the focus of treatments for these disorders or diseases. In this paper, we introduced electroceuticals as an extension of neuromodulation for the treatment of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, and bladder dysfunction, without side effects that are unavoidably elicited when conventional drugs are taken. Further, this paper reviewed the anatomy of the peripheral nervous system, treatment examples for chronic diseases, technological demands for peripheral nerve interfacing, global R&D programs and market trends for electroceuticals, and prospects on electroceuticals.

  • Many cell types are known to stimulate $CD8^+$ T cells in allogeneic recognition such as mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR). Whereas dendritic cells are most potent among them. T cells are usually considered very poor in stimulating $CD8^+$ T cells although there are some tumor cells that are weakly stimulatory. T cells, as a stimulator, cultured in the presence of concanavalin A that were otherwise nonstimulatory to $CD8^+$ T cells appeared to stimulate $CD8^+$ T cells strongly when they were pretreated with neuraminidase. The enhancement of MLR by neuraminidase could be achieved by treating either the stimulators or responders with neuraminidase. Removal of negatively-charged sialic acid moieties from the cell surface, which reduced electrostatic repulsion between responders and stimulators to give better cell-cell contact might be responsible for the enhanced MLR. In addition, neuraminidase treatment also appeared to deliver activation signal to responding T cells since it could activate $CD8^+$ T cells in synergy with phorbol myristate acetate. The maximal responses were observed when both responders and stimulators were treated with neuraminidase.

  • Neuro feedback training using ElectroEncephalo Grams (EEGs) is commonly utilized in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Recently, BCI (Brain-computer Interface) contents have developed, not for the purpose of treatment, but for concentration improvement or brain relaxation training. However, as each user has different wave forms, it is hard to develop contents controlled by such different wave. Therefore, an EEG process that allows the ability to transform the variety of wave forms into one standard signal and use it without taking a user's characteristic of EEG into account, is required. In this paper, a framework that can reduce users' characteristics by normalizing and converting measured EEGs is proposed for contents. This framework also contains the process that controls different brainwave measuring devices. In experiment a handling process applying the proposed framework to the developed BCI contents is introduced.

  • Acrophobia is an abnormal fear of heights. Medications or cognitive-behavior methods have been mainly used as a treatment. Lately the virtual reality technology has been applied to that kind of anxiety disorders. A virtual environment provides patient with stimuli which arouses phobia, and exposing to that environment makes him having ability to over come the fear. Recently, the patient can take diagnose from a medical doctor in distance with the telemedicine system. The hospital and doctors can get the medical data, audio, video, signals in the actual examination room or operating room via a live interactive system. Audio visual and multimedia conference service, online questionary, ECG signal transfer system, update system are needed in this system. Virtual reality simulation system that composed with a position sensor, head mount display, and audio system, is also included in this telemedicine system. In this study, we tried this system to the acrophobia patient in distance.
