  • In this paper, the output voltage of a photodetector is stabilized using a digital potentiometer, to reduce the voltage variation when the detector position deviates from the center of the signal beam. The capture distance is calculated, and stabilization performance is observed through experiments. This scheme is very useful to reduce the output voltage variations due to the small change of the optical signal power, beam direction, and the detector position.

  • This paper studies about reducing the complexity of ML detection in MIMO/V-blast system, based on MMSE and ZF linear detectors. Beforehand, the receiver detects the signal using the linear detector such as ZF or MMSE. Moreover, the next step is to assess whether the signal is reliable or not by verifying the reliability condition, if the latter is reliable then it is the output if not it has to be detected by the advanced detector until the reliability condition is verified.

  • An airborne radar is an essential aviation electronic system of the aircraft to perform various missions in all weather environments. This paper presents the design, development, and test results of the multi-mode pulsed Doppler radar system test model for helicopter-borne flight test. This radar system consists of 4 LRU units, which include ANTU(Antenna Unit), TRU(Tx Rx Unit), RSDU(Radar Signal & Data Processing Unit) and DISU(Display Unit). The developed technologies include the TACCAR processor, planar array antenna, TWTA transmitter, coherent I/Q detector, digital pulse compression, DSP based Doppler FFT filtering, adaptive CFAR, IMU, and tracking capability. The design performance of the developed radar system is verified through various helicopter-borne field tests including MTD (Moving Target Detector) capability for the Doppler compensation due to the moving platform motion.

  • Electron detectors used in scanning electron microscope accept electrons emitted from the specimen and convert them to an electrical signal that, after amplification, is used to modulate the gray-level intensities on a cathode ray tube, producing an image of the specimen. Electron detector is one of the key components dominating the performance of scanning electron microscope so that the development of electron detectors having high performance is indispensable to acquire high quality images using scanning electron microscope. In this paper, we designed and manufactured an electron detector and conducted a couple of image capture experiments using it. In particular, scintillator which generates light photons when it is struck by high-energy electrons was manufactured and experimental studies on the optimization of manufacturing condition was carried out. From experiments to evaluate the performance of our detector, it was verified that the performance of our detector is equivalent to or better than that of the conventional one.

  • Multiplicative noise is known to be useful in modeling multipath propagation, which is crucial in mobile communication systems analysis. In this paper, nonparametric detection of weak random signals in multiplicative noise is considered. The locally optimum detector based on signs and ranks of observations isderived for good weak-signal detection performance under any noise probability density function. the detector has similarities to the locally optimum detector for random signals in multiplicative noise. It is shown that the nonparametric detector asymptotically hs almost the same performance as the locally optimum detector.

  • The SRI(Super Resolution Imager) with 800mm aperture primary mirror is the ground development model of the high resolution satellite camera. The SRI focal plane electronics including detector array generates the data for high-resolution images by converting incoming light into digital stream of pixel data. Since the focal plane including a detector is the basic building block of the camera system, the main system performances is directly determined by its performance. This paper measures the SRI focal plane electronics’ performance such as the dark signal, the dark signal noise, the linearity, the PRNU(Photo Response Non-Uniformity), the SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) and the sensor saturation capability. In addition, this paper verifies the various functionalities of the SRI focal plane electronics. The electrical test equipment with the specialized software and the optical test equipments such as the integrating sphere, the rotation stage and the target are implemented and used to verify these functionalities and performances.

  • Co Self-Powered Neutron Detector (SPND) is confronted with the problem of material consumption, which causes the response current can neither reflect the change of neutron flux in time nor be proportional to the neutron flux. In this paper, a deconvolution-based method is established to solve this problem. First of all, a step signal of neutron flux is taken as an example to analyze its performance. When the material consumption of Co SPND is 10%, after compensation, the response current can be in correspondence of neutron flux. Finally, the effects of this model in different Signal-to-Noise Ratio are analyzed, which fully confirms the truth of its excellent performance for compensating Co SPND's signal.

  • Increasing stringent emissions legislation and requirement of more effective energy used for diesel engine demand the fine control of the fuel injection system. Recently, the electromagnetic fuel injection control system for diesel engine is tried to realize the optimum diesel combustion by the feel back sensing as optical signal of combustion flame. The photo detectors were made for the feed back signal of electromagnetic fuel injection control for small DI diesel engine. Their abilities to detect defining combustion events were examined. By evaluating test results, it was shown that the wider acceptable optical range design of optical probe window face, and selection of installation position and installation method of detector were important point for improving sensing ability. The detector was shown to detect start and end of diffused combustion and maximum point of flame intensity impossible for pressure sensor, and also shown that the maximum point of flame intensity was 75% of accumulated heat release point within the experimental conditions.

  • NMR measurement has been studied for protons in pre-polarized flowing water by a separated detector working at high field far away from the measured field region where the transition of protons is occurred by the pertur-bation of RF energy. The conditions for NMR signal were optimized on the amplitude and frequency of modulation field, the RF field of detector, water speed, and RF field at the measured field region. The NMR signal with the full width of 320 nT at the half maximum in Lorentzian curve and with signal to noise ratio of 10.5 was measured in the range from a few ${\mu}T$ to mT, and its shape and amplitude were independent of the measured field intensity and its uniformity.

  • In this paper, optical noise is reduced by a differential detector with a plastic optical fiber bundle in a wireless optical interconnection. A plastic optical fiber bundle divides the received optical signal equally and connects it to two photodiodes. In this configuration two photodiodes effectively detect the optical signal at one point, and the output voltage variation due to the abrupt change of optical noise distribution in space disappears. The signal to noise ratio in a differential detector with a fiber bundle was improved to be $10\;\cal{dB}$ higher than in a single photodiode with an optical filter.
