Novel Driving Method for fast Response Time in Vertical Alignment LCDs

  • The switching mechanism of multi-domain vertical alignment mode LCD and delayed on response time phenomenon in special conditions are investigated. A modified DCC (Dynamic Capacitance Compensation), DCCII has been developed for the fast response time performance in PVA TFT-LCD TVs. DCCII applies a pre-tilt voltage to addressed pixels during the previous frame in addition to an overshoot voltage. In result, the response time less than 8 msec, has been obtained for all moving images through the DCCII technique.

  • A technique based on bispectrun averaging is described for generally recovering the signal waveform from a set of noisy signals with variable signal delay. The technique does not require explicit tune alignment of signals and any initial estimate of signal. The new method is suggested and is compared with other methods. This method are numerically investigated using computer generated-data and a physiological signal and noise Some experimental results for the evoked potential studios that demonstrate the technique are given. The results show the effectiveness of the technique: various potential applications of the technique might be expected.

  • This paper presents a novel K-band (18 GHz) 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight multi-input multi-output communication system. The system can deliver 356 Mbps on a 56 MHz channel. Alignment mismatches, such as amplitude and/or phase mismatches, between the transmitter and receiver antennas were examined through hardware experiments. Hardware experimental results revealed that amplitude mismatch is related to antenna size, antenna beam width, and link distance. The proposed system employs an alignment mismatch compensation method. The open-loop architecture of the proposed compensation method is simple and enables facile construction of communication systems. In a digital modem, 16-QAM OFDM with a 512-point fast Fourier transform and (255, 239) Reed-Solomon forward error correction codecs is used. Experimental results show that a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ is achieved at a signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 18.0 dB.

  • Power analysis attack on low-power consumed security devices such as smart cards is very powerful, but it is required that the correlation between the measured power signal and the mid-term estimated signal should be consistent in a time instant while running encryption algorithm. The power signals measured from the security device applying the random clock do not match the timing point of analysis, therefore random clock is used as counter measures against power analysis attacks. This paper propose a new constant pitch based time alignment for power analysis with random clock power trace. The proposed method neutralize the effects of random clock used to counter measure by aligning the irregular power signals with the time location and size using the constant pitch. Finally, we apply the proposed one to AES algorithm within randomly clocked environments to evaluate our method.

  • This paper presents a selective interference alignment for cognitive radio system with spectrum leasing. The proposed method selects users who cause severe interference to other basestations that have required SINR. Since few users are selected to apply subspace interference alignment, the total complexity of the system is not high compared with that of the system who utilizes subspace interference alignment to all users. In addition, all users can transmit without considering interference. The computer simulation shows the proposed method exhibits 350% throughput enhancement at a two cell case, and 400% increase at a three cell case.

  • As a popularity of a portable digital device such as a cellular phone, a digital camera and a MP3 player is spreading, the demand of the mobile storage device increases rapidly. A bluray technology using 405nm laser diode and objective lens having high NA(Numerical Aperture), 0.85, satisfies a miniaturization and a high capacity which are the requirements of the portable device. To develop SFFOP(small form factor optical pickup), it is prerequisite to minimize the number of optical components and establish evaluation and assembly method of micro optical pickup system as well as mass production method of micro optical component. To minimize optical elements of optical pickup, there have been many researches to use P-HOE(Polarized Holographic Optical Element) due to its extremely small size and versatile function. However, P-HOE is handled and assembled very accurately in SFFOP. In this paper, static error signal detection method is developed for an alignment of P-HOE in SFFOP. Using developed static error signal detection method, P-HOE can be aligned very accurately with real time result of static error signals of pickup such as FES(focusing error signal) and TES(Tracking Error Signal). The developed static error signal detection method is verified by the evaluation of commercialized DVD Pickup. And finally. developed static error signal detection method is applied for the assembly of P-HOE in SFFOP system satisfies specification of BD(Blu-ray Disk).

  • In this paper, we introduce a differential detector that automatically aligns itself to the signal beam in order to prevent the voltage variation that may result from minute misalignment of the light source. In this system, a photodiode-array recognizes the central point of the signal beam, and drives motors that correspond to the x and y axes. The photodiode-array aligns itself to the central point of the signal beam, and eliminates the optical noise effect with differential detectioin method. It is very useful in wireless optical interconnections.

  • In the recent years, various researches about the signal processing have been presented to improve the performance of power analysis. Among these signal processing techniques, the research about the signal compression is not enough than a signal alignment and a noise reduction; even though that can reduce considerably the computation time for the power analysis. But, the existing compression method can sometimes reduce the performance of the power analysis because those are the unsophisticated method not considering the characteristic of the signal. In this paper, we propose the new PCA (principal component analysis)-based signal compression method, which can block the loss of the meaningful factor of the original signal as much as possible, considering the characteristic of the signal. Also, we prove the performance of our method by carrying out the experiment.

  • We suggest binary image decryption system using two-wavc mixing in Photorefractive crystal. Compared with a conventional method, this method can make optical alignment easily, and brighten the encrypted image even if a small input signal, by index grating of photorefractive crystal. Also it can reconstruct the encrypted image by only reference beam in real time.
