  • Time of Flight(ToF) LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging) technology has been used for distance measurement and object detection by measuring ToF time information. This technology has been evolved into higher precision measurement field such like autonomous driving car and terrain analysis since the retrieval of exact ToF time information is of prime importance. In this paper, as a accuracy indicator of the ToF time information, timing jitter was measured and analyzed through Single-Shot LiDAR system(SSLs) mainly consisting of 1.5um wavelength MOPA LASER, InGaAs Avalanche Photodiode(APD) at 31M free space environment. Additionally, we applied spline interpolation and multiple-shot averaging method on measured data through SSLs to improve ToF timing information.

  • High-voltage isolating switches play a paramount role in ensuring the safety of power supply systems. However, their exposure to outdoor environmental conditions may cause serious physical defects, which may result in great risk to power supply systems and society. Image processing-based methods have been used for anomaly detection. However, their accuracy is affected by numerous uncertainties due to manually extracted features, which makes the anomaly detection of isolating switches still challenging. In this paper, a vision-based anomaly detection method for isolating switches, which uses the rotational angle of the switch system for more accurate and direct anomaly detection with the help of deep learning (DL) and image processing methods (Single Shot Multibox Detector (SSD), improved frame differencing method, and Hough transform), is proposed. The SSD is a deep learning method for object classification and localization. In addition, an improved frame differencing method is introduced for better feature extraction and a hough transform method is adopted for rotational angle calculation. A number of experiments are conducted for anomaly detection of single and multiple switches using video frames. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the SSD outperforms the You-Only-Look-Once network. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method have been proven under various conditions, such as different illumination and camera locations using 96 videos from the experiments.

  • Recent works regarding video shot change detection algorithms show that abrupt shot changes are detected fairly well. However, gradual shot changes including wipes and dissolves are often missed or falsely detected. A robust shot change detection system, therefore, must include a shot verification step to further enhance the overall system performance. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the visual rhythm which is a single image, a subsampled version of a full video. On the visual rhythm, the different video edit effects such as cuts, wipes and dissolves manifest themselves as different patterns. Using this characteristic, it becomes possible, without sequentially playing the entire video, to find false positive shots as well as undetected shots. Thus, inclusion of the visual rhythm in the shot boundary verification process will aid the operator to exclude falsely detected shots as well as to find undetected shots fast and efficiently. For this purpose we have developed a new tool, a shot verifier incorporating the visual rhythm. The usefulness of the visual rhythm during the shot verification process will be presented.

  • The purpose of video segmentation is to segment video sequence into shots where each shot represents a sequence of frames having the same contents, and then select key frames from each shot for indexing. There are two types of shot changes, abrupt and gradual. The major problem of shot change detection lies on the difficulty of specifying the correct threshold, which determines the performance of shot change detection. As to the clustering approach, the right number of clusters is hard to be found. Different clustering may lead to completely different results. In this thesis, we propose a video segmentation method using a color-X$^2$ intensity histogram-based fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm.

  • A cell animation is represented by one background cell, and there is much difference of images when its shot is changed. Also, it does not have a lot of colors since people themselves draw it. In order to effectively detect shot transitions of cell animations while fully considering their intrinsic characteristics, in this paper, we propose a animation shot boundary detection algorithm that utilizes color and block-based histograms step by step. The suggested algorithm first converts RGB color space into HSI color one, and coarsely decides if adjacent frames contains a shot transition by performing color difference operation between two images. If they are considered to have a shot transition candidate, we calculate color histograms for 9 sub-regions of the adjacent images and apply weights to them. Finally, we determine whether there is a real shot transition by analyzing the weighted sum of histogram values. In experiments, we show that our method is superior to others.

  • In this paper, we propose an effective method for detecting and classifying shot transitions in video sequences. The proposed method detects and classifies shot transitions including cuts, fades and dissolves by compensating camera operations in video sequences, so that our method prevents false positives resulting from camera operations. Also, our method eliminates local moving objects in the process of compensating camera operations, so that our method prevents errors resulting from moving objects. In the experiments, we show that our shot transition approach can work as a promising solution by comparing the proposed method with previously known methods in terms of performance.

  • This paper proposes a shot change detection algorithm by using frame segmentation and the object changes among moving blocks. In order to detect the rapid moving changes of objects between two consecutive frames, the moving blocks on the diagonal are defined, and their histograms are calculated. When a block of the current frame is compared to the moving blocks of the next frame, the block histograms are used and the threshold of a shot change detection is automatically adjusted by Otsu's threshold method. The proposed algorithm was tested for the various types of color or gray videos such as films, dramas, animations, and video tapes in National Archives of Korea. The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm could enhance the detection rate when compared to the studied methods that use brightness, histogram, or segmentation.

  • Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) show high performance in computer vision tasks including object detection, but a lot of weight storage and computation is required. In this paper, a pruning scheme is applied to CNNs for object detection, which can remove much amount of weights with a negligible performance degradation. Contrary to the previous ones, the pruning scheme applied in this paper considers the base accelerator architecture. With the consideration, the pruned CNNs can be efficiently performed on an ASIC or FPGA accelerator. Even with the constrained pruning, the resulting CNN shows a negligible degradation of detection performance, less-than-1% point degradation of mAP on VOD0712 test set. With the proposed scheme, CNNs can be applied to objection dtection efficiently.

  • As the current cyber attacks become more intelligent, the existing Intrusion Detection System is difficult for detecting intelligent attacks that deviate from the existing stored patterns. In an attempt to solve this, a model of a deep learning-based intrusion detection system that analyzes the pattern of intelligent attacks through data learning has emerged. Intrusion detection systems are divided into host-based and network-based depending on the installation location. Unlike network-based intrusion detection systems, host-based intrusion detection systems have the disadvantage of having to observe the inside and outside of the system as a whole. However, it has the advantage of being able to detect intrusions that cannot be detected by a network-based intrusion detection system. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a study on a host-based intrusion detection system. In order to evaluate and improve the performance of the host-based intrusion detection system model, we used the host-based Leipzig Intrusion Detection-Data Set (LID-DS) published in 2018. In the performance evaluation of the model using that data set, in order to confirm the similarity of each data and reconstructed to identify whether it is normal data or abnormal data, 1D vector data is converted to 3D image data. Also, the deep learning model has the drawback of having to re-learn every time a new cyber attack method is seen. In other words, it is not efficient because it takes a long time to learn a large amount of data. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the Siamese Convolutional Neural Network (Siamese-CNN) to use the Few-Shot Learning method that shows excellent performance by learning the little amount of data. Siamese-CNN determines whether the attacks are of the same type by the similarity score of each sample of cyber attacks converted into images. The accuracy was calculated using Few-Shot Learning technique, and the performance of Vanilla Convolutional Neural Network (Vanilla-CNN) and Siamese-CNN was compared to confirm the performance of Siamese-CNN. As a result of measuring Accuracy, Precision, Recall and F1-Score index, it was confirmed that the recall of the Siamese-CNN model proposed in this study was increased by about 6% from the Vanilla-CNN model.

  • We propose a new algorithm to detect shot change, which is necessary in retrieval of video data. In order to solve the problems of abrupt brightness change and similar brightness between frames in the typical shot change methods, we propose the hi-polarity histogram method which takes into account the distribution and magnitude of brightness changes in consecutive frames. We evaluate our algorithm with compressed and uncompressed video data and demonstrate its improved performance.
