The relationship between GMA welding conditions and the bead shape of overlay weld was studied by using ${\Phi}1.6mm$ hypo-eutectic metal-cored wire designed for hardfacing against the severe metal-to-metal wear. As the welding voltage increased, the dilution also increased but the sudden drop of dilution was observed at $30{\sim}33V$. It was considered to be due to the decrease of penetration resulting from the change of transfer mode, from short circuit to spray. It was also found that the behavior of penetration with welding current was dependant on the transfer mode. The short circuit mode exerted the penetration to decrease while the spray mode did it to increase with increase of welding current. The former was considered to be responsible for the remarkable decrease in dilution at low welding voltage region. The change of transfer mode also had an effect on the behavior of bead width with welding current but it did not on the bead spreadability defined as W/H ratio. It was considered that the optimal welding conditions for multi-pass overlay welding could be obtained from the bead spreadability suitable for bead lapping and the dilution as low as possible in the spray transfer mode.

In this paper, we propose the built-in current testing circuit for improving reliability As the integrated CMOS circuits in a chip are increased, the testability on design and fabrication should be considered to reduce the cost of testing and to guarantee the reliability In addition, the high degree of integration makes more failures which are different from conventional static failures and introduced by the short between transistor nodes and the bridging fault. The proposed built-in current testing method is useful for detecting not only these failures but also low current level failures and faster than conventional method. In normal mode, the detecting circuit is turned off to eliminate the degradation of CUT(Circuits Under Testing). The differential input stage in detecting circuit prevents the degradation of CUT in test mode. It is expected that this circuit improves the quality of semiconductor products, the reliability and the testability.
A new zero voltage and zero current switching(ZVZCS) full bridge DC-DC converter with transformer isolation is proposed for arc welding machines. The proposed DC-DC converter uses an auxiliary transformer to obtain ZCS for leading leg, which provides load current control capability even in short circuit condition. The auxiliary circuit also operates in ZVZCS mode. The power rating of the auxiliary transformer is about 10% of the main transformer. The operation is verified by experiments for 12[KW] prototype.

This paper describes a combination surge generator for carrying out performance tests on the surge protection circuits of shipboard electrical systems. Pspice simulations were performed to decide the values of the parts required and to analyze the characteristics of the generator circuitry. The surge generator fabricated can produce four of the most common surge test waveforms : the O.5i/S/100kHz Ringwave, the 1.2/50$\mu$S voltage, the 8/20$\mu$S current, and the lO/lOOOi/S voltage wave¬forms specified in ANSI Std. C62. Source impedances of the surge generator are 12$\Omega$ in the O.5$\mu$S/100kHz mode, O.5$\Omega$ in the 1.2/50$\mu$S and 8/20$\mu$S mode, and 40$\Omega$in the l0/1000$\mu$S mode, and are determined by the ratio of the maxi¬mum open - circuit voltage to the maximum short - circuit current. Experimental results show that the surge generator provides most of the outputs required for the testing of the surge protection circuits on shipboard electrical systems.
By the trends of electronic package to be more integrative, the fine Cu trace pitch of organic PCB is required to be a robust design. In this study, the short circuit failure mechanism of PCB with a Cl element under the Temperature humidity bias test ($85^{\circ}C$/85%RH/3.5V) was examined by micro-structural study. A focused ion beam (FIB) and an electron probe micro analysis (EPMA) were used to polish the cross sections to reveal details of the microstructure of the failure mode. It is found that $CuCl_x$ were formed and grown on Cu trace during the $170^{\circ}C$/3hrs and that $CuCl_x$ was decomposed into Cu dendrite and $Cl_2$ gas during the $85^{\circ}C$/85%RH/3.5V. It is suggested that Cu dendrites formed on Cu trace lead to a short circuit failure between a pair of Cu traces.

The weld quality of $CO_2$ arc welding is closely related to the arc stability. As the characteristics of the arc are excessively complex and nonlinear, it is not easy to make the arc model as mathematical form and to control the arc state to be stabilized. This paper was aimed to estimate the arc stability and to control for stabilizing the arc state in short circuit metal transfer mode of $CO_2$ arc welding. For these purposes, the behaviors of arc stability was investigated at different welding conditions using Mita's arc stability index, and the fuzzy control algorithm which uses the arc stability index as control imput and the arc voltage as control output was developed. In the control of the arc stability, the experiments of two cases were performed; the case of setting an initial welding voltage arbitrarily, the case of the step change in workpiece shape. Obtained results were as follows; Mita's arc stability index was able to be estimated qualitatively in the case of using the inverter type welding power source and the control performance for stabilizing the arc status was excellent in the case of existing step change disturbance.

In this paper, we proposed an adaptive ATC(Automatic Threshold Control) circuit with more decreased settling time by improving the structure of the peak detector. We showed that it could reduce a good deal of the settling time because it showed less than half the error voltage ratio that the ATC circuit with conventional structure showed in analysis. We also designed a burst-mode ATC circuit for the 1.25Gbps EPON system using a commercial foundry. It produced the reference levels in very short time, 6㎱ in 40 ㏈ input dynamic range.

Recently the pelionnance of CO2 arc welding machine has been advanced significantly through the adoption of i invelter circuit topology. which made it possible to improve welding perfonnances such as spatter generation and bead s state. But the conventional inverter arc welding machine generates constant output voltage which cause much spatter g generation dUling short-circuit and arc start time because it is unable to control output current instantaneously. So this p paper representes wavefCnm controlled inverter arc welding machine which control the wavefonn of welding current and t thus to suppress the spatter generation. And the system designed in this paper is the digital controller using single chip m microprocessor of 80C196KC. As a result of perfonnance test for this system, the spatter generation is reduced and s shOlt-circuit time period is stabilized compared to conventional one. And more by using switched mode rectifier for A AC/DC power convelter. unity power factor is maintained and low order halmonic spectrum is supressed.
An automatic welding system was constructed with a personal computer to capture the welding data in addition to vision seam tracking for the gas metal arc welding process. The monitoring of welding signals is composed of the acquisition of welding voltage and current, obtained by using two differential amplifiers and A/D converters, and processing of the measured data. Using interrupt handing circuit for time sharing, two jobs of seam tracking and monitoring were performed at the required sampling time. Relations between welding signals and various welding circumstances were analyzed from the experimental results.
