An active clamp ZVS PWM forward converter using a secondary synchronous switch control is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter is suitable for low-voltage and high-current applications. The structure of the proposed converter is the same as a conventional active clamp forward converter. However, since it controls the secondary synchronous switch to build up the primary current during a very short period of time, the ZVS operation is easily achieved without any additional conduction losses of magnetizing current in the transformer and clamp circuit. Furthermore, there are no additional circuits required for the ZVS operation of power switches. Therefore, the proposed converter can achieve high efficiency with low EMI noise, resulting from soft switching without any additional conduction losses, and shows high power dens~ty, a result of high efficiency, and requires no additional components. The operational principle and design example are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed converter can achieve an excellent ZVS performance throughout all load conditions and demonstrates significant improvement in efficiency for the 100W (5V, 20A) prototype converter.
In this paper, a new algorithm to measure the ultrasonic travel time is proposed, which is fundamental to estimate distance depth and volume in several media. Pulse wave has been used to measure travel time of transmitted signal. However, due to the characteristic of transducer and propagation, the received signal is so distorted that it is difficult to measure travel time, which is propagation, the received signal is so distorted that it is difficult to measure travel time, which is to be time difference between transmitted and received signals. In this proposed method, transmitted and received signal are transformed respectively into norm phase newly designed by this paper and displayed on phase-time curve. And travel time is simply determined by the arithmetic numerical mean of time difference at the identical norm phase on the phase-time curves of transmitted and received signals. This method has several features; firstly, travel time is calculated analytically with high accuracy by least square error method, secondly, it is useful to compare the difference of signal magnitude for time information, thirdly, noise and discrete errors are relatively small, finally, the measurement accuracy is not influenced by D.C. bias. In particular, this method is useful and applicable to measuring very short distance and sound speed with high accuracy.

This paper presents a new software-based on-line dead-time compensation technique for a single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverter system. To prevent a short circuit in the inverter arms, a switching delay time must be inserted in the pulse width modulation (PWM) signals. This causes the dead-time effect, which degrades the system performance around zero-crossing point of the output current. To reduce the dead-time effect around the zero-crossing point of grid current, a harmonic mitigation of grid current is used as an additional part of the synchronous frame current control scheme. This additional task mitigates the harmonic components caused by the dead-time from the grid current. Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the effectiveness of the proposed dead-time compensation method in the single-phase grid-connected inverter system.

In the current study, characteristics of the laser-induced plasma were investigated in a gas filled chamber or in a gas jet by using a relatively low intensity laser $(I\;\leq\;5\;\times\;10^{12}\;W/cm^2)$. Temporal evolutions of the produced plasma were measured using the shadow visualization and the shock wave propagation as well as the electron density profiles in the plasma channel was measured using the Mach-Zehnder interferometry. Experimental results such as the structure of the produced plasma, shock propagation speed $(V_s)$, electron density profiles $(n_e)$, and the electron temperature $(T_e)$ are discussed in this study. Since the diagnostic laser pulse occurs over short time intervals compared to the hydrodynamic time scales of expanding plasma or a gas jet, all the transient motion occurring during the measurement is assumed to be essentially frozen. Therefore, temporally well-resolved quantitative measurements were possible in this study.
The advantage of using lasers for through silicon via (TSV) drilling is that they allow higher flexibility during manufacturing because vacuums, lithography, and masks are not required; furthermore, the lasers can be applied to metal and dielectric layers other than silicon. However, conventional nanosecond lasers have disadvantages including that they can cause heat affection around the target area. In contrast, the use of a picosecond laser enables the precise generation of TSVs with a smaller heat affected zone. In this study, a comparison of the thermal and crystallographic defect around laser-drilled holes when using a picosecond laser beam with varing a fluence and repetition rate was conducted. Notably, the higher fluence and repetition rate picosecond laser process increased the experimentally recast layer, surface debris, and dislocation around the hole better than the high fluence and repetition rate. These findings suggest that even the picosecond laser has a heat accumulation effect under high fluence and short pulse interval conditions. To eliminate these defects under the high speed process, the CDE (chemical downstream etching) process was employed and it can prove the possibility to applicate to the TSV industry.
Pulse delays among operating lines are observed in a multiline operation transversely excited atmospheric pressure $CO_2$ laser which has an intracavity germanium etalon. To show the delay effect more precisely, we have replaced the etalon with a 40%/antireflecting coated ZnSe half mirror obtained two laser lines in which the delay can be controlled by a slight tilting of the output coupler, The results show that the individual rotational vibrational transition lines must have almost equal intensities in multiline oscillation in order to obtain high peak power and short pulses.

Spherical NaI(Tl) detectors are used in gamma-ray spectrometry, where the gamma emissions come from the nuclei with energies in the range from a few keV up to 10 MeV. A spherical detector is aimed to give a good response to photons, which depends on their direction of travel concerning the detector center. Some distortions in the response of a gamma-ray detector with a different geometry can occur because of the non-uniform position of the source from the detector surface. The present work describes the calibration of a NaI(Tl) spherical detector using both an experimental technique and a numerical simulation method (NSM). The NSM is based on an efficiency transfer method (ETM, calculating the effective solid angle, the total efficiency, and the full-energy peak efficiency). Besides, there is a high probability for a source-to-detector distance less than 15 cm to have pulse coincidence summing (CS), which may occur when two successive photons of different energies from the same source are detected within a very short response time. Therefore, γ-γ ray CS factors are calculated numerically for a 152Eu radioactive cylindrical source. The CS factors obtained are applied to correct the measured efficiency values for the radioactive volumetric source at different energies. The results show a good agreement between the NSM and the experimental values (after correction with the CS factors).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate how college students' perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization affect their heart rate variability (HRV). Methods: This study is a cross-sectional survey research on 191 university students, registered at the G University. The perceived stress scale (PSS) and cognitive stress response scale, were used to assess level of stress. The somatization symptom scale of the Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90), was used to assess level of somatization caused by stress. To assess heart rate variability (HRV), we conducted a five-minute test using a pulse wave analyzer, to analyze short-term HRV. Results: The SCL-90 somatization score had relatively high positive correlation (p< .001) with cognitive stress, but low positive correlation (p< .001) with perceived stress. Cognitive stress response had low negative correlation (p< .001) with 1nSDNN and 1nRMSSD among HRV parameters. Perceived stress was not correlated with HRV. Multiple regression analysis showed that variables of perceived stress, cognitive stress, and somatization symptoms, could not explain HRV. By contrast, one of the HRV indicators, 1nSDNN, was affected by age, gender, and aggressive-hostile thought, the latter being a subscale of the cognitive stress response scale. Conclusion: This study suggests that stress evaluation for people in early adulthood will be more effective, if the evaluation examines cognitive stress and heart rate variability.

Purpose: The number of people with disabilities and the elderly over 65 years of age is gradually increasing due to physical disabilities and social aging. Their typical physical disorders or chronic diseases include low back pain, sciatic pain, arthritis, and musculoskeletal systems such as discs. The average prevalence of disease is 78%. These are various physical obstacles and hindrances in daily life. Research design, data and methodology: From August 6, 2019 to September 24, 2019, the Senior Welfare Center in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, operated a healthy body exercise and health education program for living health management. Results: The vascular health index using U-Bio pulse wave was relatively good at the first average of +7.4, but the second average of -6.3. This can be seen as a result of the combination of diet and lifestyle education along with the effect of corrective exercise. As a result of body shape measurement analysis, the number of persons requiring management with 3 or more body imbalances was found to be from 75% before to 62.5% afterwards. Conclusions: Exercise effect appears when exercise lasts for at least 10 weeks. Some performances were good, but there were limitations due to the operation of a short training period.
To meet stringent emission regulations of automotive engines, fuel injection control techniques have advanced based on reliable and fast computing prediction models. This study aims to develop a reliable lightweight prediction model of fuel injection rates using a small number of input parameters and based on simple fluid dynamic theories. The prediction model uses the geometry of the injector nozzle, needle motion data, injection conditions and the fuel properties. A commercial diesel injector and US No. 2 diesel were used as the test injector and fuel, respectively. The needle motion data were measured using X-ray phase-contrast imaging technique under various fuel injection pressures and injection pulse durations. The actual injector rate profiles were measured using an injection rate meter for the validation of the model prediction results. In the case of long injection durations with the steady-state operation, the model prediction results showed over 99 % consistency with the measurement results. However, in the case of short injection cases with the transient operation, the prediction model overestimated the injection rate that needs to be further improved.
