In the shops equipped shown 36 shops (80.8%) and non-equipped shown 65 shops (86.7%), the pollution ratio of all the shops (120 shops) was 84.2 percent. 4) The CO Concentration of the ventilator equipped shops was shown 44.5 percent in 100~149 ppm, 150~199 ppm shown 33.3 percent and 22.2 percent was 200~250 ppm, In the non-equipped shops the CO concentration was shown 36.9 percent was 150~199 ppm and 200~250 ppm was 25.6 percent. The totally was 39.6 percent in 100~149 ppm. 5) 37.5 percent of the book-lending shops had the ventilation facilities but 62.6 percent had no ventilators. 6) The maxmum average illumination of the shops was 38.5 Lux and the minimum average illumination was 14.1 Lux, and the mean average illumination S.D. was 24.6\pm38.4. 7) 35.8 percent of the shops had the illumination of 20~29 Lux and 8.3 percent had that of more than 40 Lux. In other words 91.7 percent had the illumination of less than 40 Lux.
The physicochemical properties and antioxidant activities of commonly consumed espresso and regular coffees, at coffee shops in downtown Seoul, were investigated. Moreover, the characteristics between chain type coffee shops and owner shops were compared using t-tests. The serving temperature and volume of espresso were lower than those for regular coffees. Whereas, the pH and total acidity of espresso were higher than those for regular coffees. Coffees from chain shops, in particular, had a significantly higher pH and lower total acidity than those from owner shops. The L, a and b values of the regular coffees were higher than those of the espresso coffees. With the exception of the a value of regular coffees, all the color values of the coffees from owner shops were higher than those from the chain shops. The intensity of the brownness, soluble solid contents and total phenolic contents of the espresso coffees were about 7∼8, 8∼9 and 4 times higher, respectively, than those of regular coffees. In addition, the free radical scavenging capacities and antioxidant activities of the espresso coffees, using a chemiluminescence assay, were higher than those of regular coffees. Espresso coffees from chain shops, especially, had higher activities of free radical scavenging than those from owner shops. In conclusion, the characteristics of coffees from chain shops were significantly different from those from owner coffee shops.
The objective of this study was to improve sanitary conditions at the beauty shops by informing the owners and employees to be aware of the public health. The data were obtained by the Physical investigation (August 1 to 30, 2001) of the sanitary Problems at 112 beauty shops in Daegu Metrpolitan area and by the surveys from the employees and customers. By analysis these data with SAS/PC+(ver. 6.12) and $x^2-test$, we have obtained the following results. 1. The numbers of the beauty shop workers (67.86% of the shops) were two including the owner, and only 18.75% of the workers had the regular public health training session. Even at the training sessions, no public health specialist was available as an instructor. 2. Sanitary conditions of the floor (92.76%), washer (88.93%) and rest room (74.11%) at the beauty shops were satisfactory. However, only 3.57% of the beauty shop used the vacuum cleaner that would be far more effective than the bloom to remove hairs from the floor. 3. About 91.07% (102 shops) did not or poorly sterilize equipments, and 91.76% (103 shops) did not store the sterilized or non-sterilized equipments separately. The shops that had the ultraviolet sterilizer that is required by the public health regulation were 53.57% (60 shops), and only 2.67% (3shops) actually used it. 4. About 82.14% (72 shops) used Oxyclean and detergent for washing the fabrics such as towels and gowns. About 11.61% (13 shops) used only detergent and 3.57% (4 shops) used the boiling sterilization method. No shop used the customer gown once per customer, and only 2.68% (3 shops) washed the used gown daily.
This study investigated college students' patterns of visiting coffee shops which are formed by students' preferences. This study surveyed 300 college students in Seongnam. The subjects were consisted of 45.2% males and 54.8% females and the average age was 20.8 years. 41.3% of subjects visited coffee shops once or twice a month and 42.4% of subjects visited coffee shops on a random basis. 26.7% of subjects stayed in coffee shops for 1~1.5 hours. The main purpose of going to coffee shops was to enjoy specialty coffee. The subjects' first favorites was coffee with various kinds of syrups and second one was Americano. When the female subjects in Seongnam chose the coffee shops, they focused more on variety factors than the male subjects. The group of subjects who had monthly expenses of less than 400,000 won focused on price factors more than the group of subjects who had monthly expenses more than 400,000 won. Moreover, environmental factors were heavily related to the usage rate and staying time of the coffee shops. Above all, price factors and promotion factors affected subjects' choice of the coffee shops in Seongnam.
This study contains the fire protection safety of the public-utilization shops. The toll of fires in the public-utilization shops is so heavy in spite the less occurency. The shops are mostly compartmented into small rooms by partition wall which hinders the evacuation of the people on fire. This study provides additional requirements on the fire safety of the public-utilization shops needed for human life and property.
After the first-ever international espresso coffee shop Starbucks Korea opened its first branch near Ewha University in Korea, positioning of divers foreign cultures among us and changes of life style due to the gross income growth have leaded to the growth of the number of needs for espresso coffee shops and, therefore, international espresso shops have been launching their shops in Korea. While the foreign shops have been holding most of the domestic market share, domestic espresso coffee shops like Hollys and Angel-In-Us have been penetrating the market with differentiated marketing strategies that a espresso coffee shop is no longer considered as just a shop, but a cultural product to Korean. Along with the recent changes, customers have started to laying emphasis on interior and each of the domestic coffee shops has been changing its interior designs by establishing own brand identification. Base on the Starbucks' success case, the domestic coffee shops have been adopting emotional marketing which would stimulate and arouse customers' emotions. The purpose of this study is to present systematic data which would be applied in an espresso coffee shop planning by researching applied emotional design elements of the domestic coffee shops interior designs in depth and finding their characteristics.

MP Surveryor II (Graywolf, USA) was used to measure $CO_2$ concentration, temperature and humidity for 8 hours. $PM_{10}$ concentrations were measured by minivolume air sampler with Teflon quartz filter ($0.2{\mu}m$ pore size, ${\varphi}$ 47 mm, Graseby-Anderson TEF-DISKTM) for 6 hours. VOCs passive sampler (OVM 3500) was used to collect VOCs for 8 hours and analyzed by GC/MSD. Results: The $CO_2$ concentrations were $759.4{\pm}58.2$ ppm in nail shops, $731.0{\pm}72.5$ ppm in hair salons, and $656.4{\pm}31.2$ ppm in shop-in-shops. The $PM_{10}$ concentrations were $27.5{\pm}14.2{\mu}g/m^3$ in nail shops, $33.1{\pm}6.3{\mu}g/m^3$ in hair salons, and $39.0{\pm}26.9{\mu}g/m^3$ in shop-in-shops. TVOCs concentrations were $3085.4{\pm}1667.8{\mu}g/m^3$ in nail shops, $2131.1{\pm}617.3{\mu}g/m^3$ in hair salons, and $1550.3{\pm}529.0{\mu}g/m^3$ in shop-in-shops. TVOCs concentrations in nail shops were significantly higher than those in hair salons and shop-in-shops (p=0.002). Formaldehyde concentrations were $60.8{\pm}36.6{\mu}g/m^3$ in nail shops, $89.1{\pm}55.4{\mu}g/m^3$ in hair salons, and $45.1{\pm}22.5{\mu}g/m^3$ in shop-in-shops. Conclusion: TVOCs concentrations in nail shop were the highest among others. TVOC concentrations in all stores exceeded indoor air quality stand of indoor air quality control in public-use facilities, etc act.
