The present study was implemented to understand high school girls' buying patterns of fashion products at online and offline shopping malls; and to obtain the information needed for the development of online and offline mall marketing strategies that are differentiated from each other. The study was conducted through a descriptive survey method using questionnaires. The sample consisted of 242 girls from four high schools located in Seoul. Descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation and a paired t-test were used for the analysis of the data. Results are as follows: First, most of the high school girls (82.2%) had experience of purchasing fashion products at online shopping malls. And, those who have purchasing experience at online shopping malls, compared to those who do not have such purchasing experience, showed a higher purchasing intension at online shopping malls. Second, both the degree of pre-purchase searching and ongoing searching was higher in online shopping than in offline shopping. Third, the quality of material, place produced, brand name, and store atmosphere/type were considered more in offline shopping than in online shopping. Shopping convenience and information service about the products were considered more in online shopping than in offline shopping. Fourth, the purchasing frequency of underwear and hair accessaries was higher at offline stores than online shopping malls, but the purchasing frequency of bags was higher in online stores than offline stores. When the differences between the purchasing patterns at online shopping malls and offline stores are considered carefully, marketing activities would be more effective.

On-line shopping allows consumers to order goods via internet and receive them at homes or workplaces. Emergence of online shopping industry has brought the changes in the structure of freight industry, in the location selection pattern of industrial clusters and in the consumer's travel pattern. This trend is likely to continue, especially in Korea, as the society sees increases in women's participation in workforce, in population of the elder and in production pattern of manufacturing individually customized goods. Despite on-line shopping's heavy influence on travel demand, no study on this particular topic has been done yet, and thus the effect of on-line shopping on travel demand has not been properly reflected on policy making process. This paper suggests the transportation strategy to cope with this change based on the analysis of the effect of on-line shopping on personal travel demand.
Due to rapid increase in number of Internet users, the volume of domestic Internet shopping is expanding dramatically. Although the Internet shopping mall business is steadily growing, it has structural weakness, and in general, the business does not generate profit. In this context, this research identifies characteristics of the Internet shopping non-adopters, and suggests strategies to strengthen competitiveness of domestic Internet shopping malls and to create a new demand. Analysis of MCR data in 2007 showed that out of 4,298 respondents, 2,206 people adopted Internet shopping (51.3%). and 2,092 did not (48.7%). The survey measured 28 items regarding a consumption pattern and a lifestyle of the Internet users, and the analysis result showed that the pattern can be categorized in seven groups. Based on the analysis, the research suggests that the domestic Internet shopping malls adopt strategies to increase consumers' access frequency to tile Internet service, provide high-end goods, diversify transaction methods, make online shopping more convenient, cater to diversified consumer demands based on demographic data, provide price comparison more Internet shopping mails, and provide sufficient and useful information to consumers.

The purpose of the study was to analyze air quality in underground shopping centers using pattern recognition methods. In order to perform this, the concentraion of air pollutants such as $CO, NO_2, NO_x, SO_2$, and particulate matters was measured at the 11 different shopping centers in Seoul metropolitan area and the total of 47 samples were obtained at random based on the size of shopping centers. To introduce a new concept of the "average concentration" for the indoor air quality analyses, the various multivariate statistical analyses have been studied. Thus, a cluster analysis was applied to separate the samples into pseudo-patterns and a disjoint principal component analysis was used to generate homogeneous patterns after removing outliers from the pseudo-patterns. The 6 homogeneous patterns were then obtained as follows:the first pattern was a group of clean sites;the second a group of sites having high dust concentration;the third a group of sites having high dust and $NO_x$ concentration;the fourth a group of sites having low dust and $SO_2$ concentraion and high CO concentration;the fifth a group of sites having high $NO_2 and SO_2$ concentration;and the final a group of miscellaneous sites. Thus, the average concentration could be estimated for each pattern.h pattern.
As the retail industry has been challenged by stiff competition, the retailer becomes more interested in better understanding consumers' in-store behavior to gain and sustain competitive advantage. Consumers' shopping paths provide valuable clues to understanding customers' in-store behavior, which has been a long standing research issue in business. This study is to explore the shopping path patterns in a grocery using RFID technology and clustering method. To this end, we designed the RFID systems, affixing active RFID tags to the bottom of grocery carts. The tag emit signal that is received by receptors installed at various location throughout the store. The RFID systems provide the time and location of the cart while consumers shop around the store. The point of sale data are matched with the cart movement records to provide a complete picture of each shopping path. To find the distinctive patterns of consumers' shopping paths, we proposed the distance-index matrix using dijkstra method and normalization method to conduct the clustering in order to handle the problem in measuring the similarity among shopping paths, which is raised by the spatial nature of consumer movement in a grocery. After analyzing the RFID data obtained in one of the groceries in a major Korean retailer, we could successfully identify several distinctive patterns of shopping paths, which prove to provide the valuable implications for store management.

This paper proposes a service which searches goods by images and finds a shopping mall site that offers referral services. In the service, images are obtained in various types. For example, paint function, images search based on pattern and shape. For this shopping mall system, it will be modeled using UML use case and class diagram. Also it will be implemented in JSP. It supports functions that searched various types of images by pattern and shape. In addition to features which were mentioned above, we aim to implement a shopping mall system to search and buy goods by improved information searching techniques, ultimately providing a space that realizes user's painting.
When a customer wants to buy an item at the Internet shopping mall, one of the difficulties is to decide when to buy the item because its price changes over time. If the shopping mall can be able to recommend appropriate buying points, it will be greatly helpful for the customer. Therefore, in this presentation, we propose a method to recommend buying points based on the time series analysis using a database that contains past prices data of items. The procedure to provide buying points for an item is as follows. First, we search past time series patterns from the database using normalized similarity, which are similar to the current time series pattern of the item. Second, we analyze the retrieved past patterns and predict the future price pattern of the item. Third, using the future price pattern, we recommend when to buy the item.
The purpose of this study was to establish store marketing strategies according to consumers pattern obtained by the importance of the image attributes of each store and a pattern of consumers based on clothing shopping orientations. 1. The clothing shopping orientations were classified into five factors. The analysis on the sample group pursuant to 5 types orientations came out the groups to pursue the royal to store & brand name, economics, shopping, convenience and fashion & confidence. 2. store atmosphere, selling promotion, servience and products were extracted from the shop image attributes. 3. As a result of comparing the importance of store image attributes as per clothing shopping orientation, the fashion & confidence pursuing group deemed store atmosphere and convenience to be the most important one. Service and convenience for the pursuing group of royal to store & brand name and the shopping pursuing group. Products, service and convenience for the convenience pursuing group. And the economics pursuing group evaluated all factors low.

Followings are the results of the study. 1) The shopping facilities, banking facilities, public open facilities with high using level are planned in proper places. 2) The using pattern of shopping facilities show a improper pattern. Therefore it is necessary to plan the shopping facilities to induce the resident to change the proper using pattern.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the preference and the use of the bedclothes. The data were obtained from market research of 12 department stores which were located in Seoul, Daegu and Busan, and from questionnaires completed by 356 women in Daegu area whose age was 20 years and older. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includes frequency, percentage, $X^2$test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test. Cotton was the most popular fiber for coverings and fillings. Color preference was in the order of pastel, non-chromatic, vivid, and white color and pattern preference was in order of floral, check, and stripe pattern. Practicality, color and fabric were the most important factors and price was the most unsatisfied factor when bedclothes were purchased. Also, information for bedclothes was obtained mainly through internet shopping, home shopping or catalog shopping.
