  • the splendid Chinese ship-building technology enjoys a long history and has an important place in the world ship building history. Up to present, the study of ship-building technology focuses on the study of western ship-building technology, so the study of Chinese ship-building technology can remedy this. With the development of society, ship-building technology enjoys a fast development, in Song dynasty (960-1279) the Chinese ship-building technology had developed very much. Its main characteristics are the large size of ships and the rapid increase in number. The Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty established basis for thai of Yuan dynasty, thus a study on the Chinese ship-building technology of Song dynasty can help better understand the Chinese ship-building history.

  • The early construction of the internet based ship basic planning supporting system based on the concurrent engineering and the internet technology is essential as a means for the improvement of technology and design productivity our ship building industry is facing currently. Further more, technological base construction for the construction for the construction of the cooperation system on the level of ship building industry is necessary for the technological base security to maintain and develop ship building industry continuosly in the 21st century of the information industry environment and for the technological improvement of the middle and small shipyard falling behind relatively and finally for the breaking through our ship building industry environment in which inter-enterprise competition is deeping. In this study, we designed the frame-system of the ship design supporting system and presented the development scenario based on core element technology.

  • In this paper, we present, based on a systematic job analysis, the definition, flowchart and description of Ship Building & Ocean Engineering Technician's job in Ship Building & Ocean Engineering Industry for developing an Ship Building & Ocean Engineering education and training program in the context of Korea situation. In addition, it is suggested that the courses be directed toward job site-centered reform through conducting job analysis with experts in the environmental industry. serving new courses demanded by industries in practice and providing training programs for industries.

  • Industrial accident frequency in small- and medium-sized ship-building plants is much higher than that of large-sized ones so that safety management activities should be different. In that sense, voluntary hazard assessment would be helpful for small- and medium-sized plants. However, conventional hazard assessment items and methods had some problems that discouraged voluntary participation of plants concerned. This study aimed to develop a new model for small- and medium-sized ship-building plants that can promote and encourage voluntary hazard assessment activities. For that purpose, ship-building process was assumed as a sequence of phases, and accident characteristics were compared with them. From that result, relative weights of accident factors including ship-building phases, accident types, occupational category, accident-induced objects, and hazardous items were determined with accident frequency data and with the help of expert groups. Therefore, for web-based integrative computer programming, a plain but accident data-dependent model was developed, with an additive function for related agencies that want to collect assessment results. It is expected that this model would help small- and medium-sized ship-building plants that wanted not only simple checklists but also effective assessment and management guidelines.

  • Recently the building of ultra large container ship are discussed among ship building companies and ship operating company who have a tendency to pursue the advantage of large scale of economy. These tendency will be continued for the time being, if ship-building skill and economical efficiency are available. As the enlargement of container ship size becomes hot issues in ship-building markets, the needs for re-arrangement of accommodation house in large container ship are proposed carefully in some researches. This study examined economical efficiency of re-arrangement of accommodation house in ultra large container ship. The separation between accommodation and engine room is proposed through out drawing works in initial design stage and we examined the merits and demerits of the separation in the view of economical efficiency. The RFR(Required Freight Rate) is considered as the objective function to evaluate the re-designed vessel. The economical benefits are analyzed in the view of ship operator and shipyard respectively.

  • In passenger ship building where thin plates are mainly used, conventional arc welding processes result in significant post-weld reworking due to thermal distortion of welded joints. In order to solve this problem, European shipbuilding industries introduced hybrid welding process since the 1990's. for passenger ship, first of all, stability is very important. So, in this study, we investigated effects of hybrid welding conditions on impact toughness of weld metal in passenger ship building using DH36 steel.

Mechanical Properties and Sound Absorption Capability of Shipbuilding Plywood Waste (조선산업 폐합판의 강도적 성질과 흡음성능)

  • Sound absorption capability and bending strength of laminated ship-building plywood waste of maple and melanti wood were estimated. Sound absorption coefficients of wood had been measured by the two microphone transfer function method and bending strength examined by three point loading. The maximum strength in bending of laminated ship-building plywood waste of maple and melanti wood were 534 and 414 kgf/$cm^2$, respectively. The sound absorption coefficients of laminated ship-building plywood waste were higher than mongolian oak and fiber board, well used construction material. Especially, in the case of laminated ship-building plywood waste of melanti wood, average sound absorption coefficient was about 0.25. It was surmised that the laminated ship-building plywood waste can be used as interior materials because of its good mechanical and sound absorption properties.

  • Presently, there are some means of voyage estimations such as Hire base, Charter base, and Anticpated income and expenditure statement of voyage. The former two are the means of estimation for profit of a ship's voyage per a deadweight tonnage adn a month, and it is well used in the case of chartered ships. But it is somewhat meaningless for the shpowner who runs his ships for himself. The latter means for estimation is mainly used in western shipping, and do not set forth simpler way of comparing profit with another voyage or with another ship's employing in other route. And this paper has yielded an index of ship's voyage profit evaluation by building a model of ship's voyage evaluation formula, and the index may be used in evaluation of the new investigation of shipping as well as setting out a shiop in a voyage. The model has yielded a break even curve which may be used for deciding the amount of demurrage and the period of ship's port time for a specific voyage contraction.

  • Nowadays we needs the ship design ability strongly for our shipbuilding industry to attain the 2nd position among the competitive world marine industries. But we have short experience in ship design, so several ship design terminologies are used without clear understandings. Here, papers on ship design procedure and design methodology are summarized with some investigation about our present status. In addition, the state arts and new developments of Computer Aided ship Design in advanced ship building countries are treated. It is hoped that we-ship designers of our country-do have common understandings about the ship design terminologies.

Relationships of Self-esteem to Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention among Ship-building Supply Workers (조선업 협력업체 근로자의 자아존중감, 직무만족 및 이직의도와의 관계)

  • Purpose: This is a descriptive correlation study to identify self-esteem, job satisfaction, and turnover intention among ship-building supply workers. Methods: The subjects were 199 ship-building supply workers at two small & medium-sized ship-building supply companies in K city. The data were collected from March 1st through 31st, 2013. The collected data were analyzed using the SAS program through t-test, ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: There was a positive correlation between self-esteem and job satisfaction (r=.29, p<.001), a negative correlation between self-esteem and turnover intention (r=-.20, p<.001). Also there was a negative correlation between job satisfaction and turnover intention (r= -.58, p<.001). Conclusion: This finding identified that the self-esteem and job satisfaction were an important variable related to the turnover intention. Therefore, organizational managers need to develop strategies for improving workers' self-esteem and job satisfaction to prevent and decrease worker's turnover intention.
