  • The computer aided ship design and construction has become very popular one in a ship yard recently. For one of such a purpose a program is developed with Aitken's iterative interpolation method. From the sample calculation we can conclude that the program has a reliable acquracy for the calculation of hydrostatic data or loading manual. And also the program can be applicable to a ship construction by careful selecting of input data.

  • It is well known that a rudder is influential devices to help ship maintain its stable performances, such as a course-keeping and maneuverability. In the procedures of a commercial ship design proper rudder dimensions (area and shape) ensuring better ship maneuverability have been settled in an initial concept design stage performed by a preceding department, without little structural consideration. It is true that there are time discrepancy between an initial design and a structural analysis stage. Therefore structural analysis results would sometimes cause a rudder to modify its dimensions. Most of these cases, however, ship design and performance tests had been finished. In this matter, only limited modifications of redder could be carried out. Besides, these could also cause bad effects on productivity. Finally, it is necessary to develop a new program considering co-relationship between an initial rudder design and a following work, a structural strength analysis, in order to enhance productivity and minimize a rate of redesign procedures.

  • Recently, all areas of IT has been rapidly in land. As a result, the location is very important in everyday life. But in ship are limits network with communication Equipment and service. As a result, be far removed from information age. Currently, ship is connected with the outside world via satellite on the voyage. But, because high billing, ship is possible data transfer using low speed bandwidth. Because ship is not possible using LAN, only limit ship's crew some use internet in limited space. So, ship is required construction of the network. In this paper, because composition of basic IT environment with information need of crew and customer from ship to cruises, there construct LAN in ship and propose network design for network of ship.

  • Many manufacturers define the system of a new product flexibility, and take advantage of previous-product information using the product configuration concept. Product configuration is an approach that defines the system of a new product centered on the product structure by referring to the previous-product information. In this paper, it is established how to apply the concept of a product configuration utilizing previous-ships information in construction cost estimation process systematically and effectively. For this, we define the advanced-construction cost estimation process based on a naval ship product model, and design construction cost estimating model. It is validated that this process and model have the applicability through the case study of the construction cost estimating of the mine-warfare ship.

  • The size of ship is being larger than the past in the shipping industry thanks to the increased quantity of goods transported by ship. Therefore, HHIC (Hanjin Heavy industries & Construction co., LTD) invented innovative construction method, so called 'DAM', to build a ship which is longer than the length of the HHIC's dry dock. On Erection at the sea by the application of DAM Method, Squeezing & Detachment of A/F film may occur as a result of the wave and the constriction between A/F film pre-applied on the side shell and DAM's Rubber Packing. Thus, the test for finding the minimum curing time of A/F film was performed to protect Squeezing & Detachment of A/F film on the hull. To verify the soundness of paint and to find the optimum condition during the erection period of the DAM, laboratory test was carried out under no immersion condition through the application of various coatings on the Rubber Packing. And two methods were selected from the results of laboratory test for actual MOCK-UP Test. In addition, the test for the film profile per temperature of silicone A/F coat and the film Squeezing was performed.

  • The concept of recent cruise ship design is changing rapidly according to the expansion of cruise fleet sizes, emphasis on passenger safety and tightened requirements for ecotourism. In this view point, this study focuses on investigative analysis for the recent trends in cruise ship design and construction. Based on the shipyard production logs and the cruise industry's annual news, the data for principal dimensions of newly built cruise ships, their hull forms and propulsion devices and the characteristics of cabin and public spaces are collected and analysed. As expected, it is found that the size of cruise ships is growing and the design concept is becoming more leisure-oriented for all ages rather than lust sightseeing. For producing a greater ton/pax ratio, the adoption of podded electric propulsion system, outside cabins and balcony spaces is a common trend in recent cruise ship design.

  • A ship's maneuvering motion model is important in a computer simulation, especially under the trend of intelligent navigation. This model is usually constructed by the hydrodynamic parameters of the ship which are generated by the principles of hydrodynamics. Ship's motion model is a nonlinear function. By using this function, ships' motion elements can be calculated, then the ship's trajectory can be predicted. Deeping neural networks can construct any linear or non-linear equation theoretically if there have enough and sufficient training data. This study constructs some kinds of deep Networks and trains this network by real ship motion data, and chooses the best one of the networks, uses real data to train it, then uses it to predict the ship's trajectory, getting some conclusions and experiences.

  • Recently the large sea bridge's construction crossing harbor and main ship's route have been propelled in the domestic so that it is active for the smoothly traffic flow of inland transportation and road user's convenience. However, it can bring about the trouble to ensure marine traffic safety if it is built that sea bridge's construction sets to an economy principle in the extension of the land road system. We're adopting Ship Handling Simulation in representative method for the influence assessment of marine traffic safety and danger elements beforehand. This research attempts to show the problems through the comparison and analysis of the reports relating to the sea bridge construction for 4 organization possessing Ship Handling Simulation. Finally, We offer the necessity of standardization on performing and assessment method of simulations.
