  • Nowadays, the modeling of information systems have been enabled by various models and methodologies that are used for different purposes and perspectives upon the systems. The integrated modeling methodology that integrates these models and methodologies has become important concerns in system integration such as CIM and PDM. The primary objective of this paper is to propose a comprehensive integrated modeling methodology that integrates the OOIDEFO function model, OOIDEFO information model, node model, user interface model, and organization model for an effective analysis, design and implementation for system integration. This methodology covers the generic requirements of modeling methodology such as graphical notations, modeling processes, and abstraction mechanisms. Also, this methodology uses an 00 paradigm throughout the entire systems development life cycle. In order to prove the consistency and efficiency of the proposed methodology, the CIMS for ship production is modeled and prototyped.

  • In a main propulsion system of naval ship, DRME(Double Resilient Mounted Engine) is mostly adopted to ensure vibration isolation and shock resistance against underwater explosion weapon attack. In this paper, an analysis program for vibration and shock evaluation of DRME is presented. DRME is modelled as multi-rigid bodies with nonlinear mounts, and direct time integration method is introduced for shock analysis. The computed results are compared with those of foreign ones. Navy's proposed specifications are well satisfied with this program. This analysis program serves for the development of domestic DRME technology of naval ship.

  • The biggest exchange of international environment of shipping logistics in 21 century should appear ultra-mega container ships on the shipping market. The competitive trend of large size container ship was based on economics of scale among the international shipping business. In the environment, shipping firms consider the integration of freight forwarder and shipper in the international logistics process. The aims of this research analyse a relation between the environment uncertainty and logistics information system(LIS) and the integration and resolve the integration and its impact on logistics performance. The research methodology of this research analyse structural equation modeling on the relation of variables. The results of research are as follows. First, Environmental uncertainty significantly influences the internal integration and the external integration. Second, LIS has an influence on the logistics integration by providing the foundation for LIS utilization in international logistics process. Third, the internal integration significantly influences a logistics performance, which implies that firms should promote interaction and collaboration through internal process integration to achieve logistics performance as the logistical cost and service. But the external integration is not significantly a logistics performance.

The integrated modeling methodology that integrates these models and methodologies has become challenging issues in system integration such as CIM and PDM. The primary objective of this paper is to propose the comprehensive integrated modeling methodology that integrates the Extended IDEF0 function model, OOIDEF0 information model, navigation model, interface model, and organization model for an effective analysis and design of the CIMS for ship production. This methodology can be used for the integrated system, and cover the systems development life cycle in an integrated fashion. In order to prove the consistency and efficiency of the proposed methodology, the CIMS for ship production is modeled.

  • In this article, an Expert System for MIDship section design(ESMID) is developed based on a general-purpose expert system shell. The system focuses on the integration of knowledge-based system and design resources such as an engineering database, graphical user interface, and engineering application program for the calculation of section modulus and longitudinal strength of ship structure. The validation of the ESMID system was examined and verified by applying the system to the 64K bulk carrier. The developed expert system can help a novice engineer in designing the midship section of ship.

  • A finite difference method for calculating turbulent flow and surface wave fields around a ship model is evaluated through the comparison with the experimental data of a Series 60 $C_B$=0.6 ship model. The method solves the Reynolds-averaged Navior-Stokes Equations using the non-staggered grid system, the four-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for the temporal integration of governing equations and the Bladwin-Lomax model for the turbulence closure. The free surface waves are captured by solving the equation of the kinematic free-surface condition using the Lax-Wendroff scheme and free-surface conforming grids are generated at each time step so that one of the grid surfaces coincides always with the free surface. The computational results show an overall close agreement with the experimental data and verify that the present method can simulate well the turbulent boundary layers and wakes as well as the free-surface waves.

  • Naval ships are complex weapon systems which play the integrated performance by system integration of many kinds of weapon systems and their leading ships are usually not disposed after test and evaluation but militarised. Then, strict project management is required for naval ship building projects by identifying problems early and by taking prefer measures in time against unexpected situations encountered in the process of the projects. EVMS is a project management system which can manage the schedule and the budget of a project concurrently and estimate the project's time duration and the cost at project completion. In this paper, the applicability and usefulness of WMS is studied for a assumed navai ship building project, in the environment of monetary fluctuations such as price index, wage increase rate and exchange rate.

  • In this paper, current application of VR in naval architecture and ocean eng. Design is surveyed and VR process is implemented in ship navigation system. So far, very sophisticated VR applications have announced but not published yet. The reason not published may be that the application is for the navy ship of which the information could not be opened to the public. Also there is another area implementing Simulation Based Design, i..e., visualization of the integration process from initial design to the manufacturing. Herein, the tendency of VR in this area is surveyed, so the international application of VR is introduced. Trough the analysis the most appropriate applicability of VR in this area can be distinguished. And to show the application, ship navigation VR is programmed using OpenGL graphics software.

  • The functions of various systems inside the naval ships have been improved and diversified to prepare for the future battlefield and satisfy new requirements. The number of missions and operating displays with which a crew has to deal has increased. In this paper, Integrated Service Framework for Naval Ships is proposed. The proposed framework is based on REST architecture and it interfaces the networks of each systems in the ship. The connected data and functions are rebuilt as an object and they are provided as HTTP and JSON based APIs. The prototype of the framework was implemented in a combat system test-bed and its feasibility was proved with performance tests. With the proposed framework, operational efficiency for a naval ship can be achieved by designing new integrated displays and HCI which utilize whole ship's capabilities.

  • As the networks connect the world, enterprises tend to move manufacturing activities into virtual spaces. Since different software applications use different data terminology, it becomes a problem to interoperate, interchange, and manage electronic data among heterogeneous systems. It is said that approximately one billion dollar has been being spent yearly in USA for product data exchange and interoperability. As commercial CAD systems have brought in the concept of design feature for the sake of interoperability, terminologies of design features need to be harmonized. In order to define design feature terminology for integration, knowledge about feature definitions of different CAD systems should be considered. STEP standard have attempted to solve this problem, but it defines only syntactic data representation so that semantic data integration is not possible. This paper proposes a methodology for integrating modeling features of CAD systems. We utilize the ontology concept to build a data model of design features which can be a semantic standard of feature definitions of CAD systems. Using feature ontology, we implement an integrated virtual database and a simple system which searches and edits design features in a semantic way.
