Land Based Test of Ballast Water Treatment System by Ozonation

  • This study is currently giving priority to developing the ship's ballast water treatment system using ozone (Ozone BWTS). The Ozone BWTS was tested in a full scale land-based mobile barge to evaluate performance according to the IMO G8 Guidelines. Test cycles using the mobile-barge were conducted in seawater and brackish water in the vicinity of the Port of Busan and Nakdong River, Republic of Korea. All tests were conducted according to the requirements of the G8 Guidelines. Test results show that the Ozone BWTS meets the Ballast Water Performance Standard contained in Regulation D-2 of the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention, as well as all of the operational, safety, and environmental testing requirements of the G8 Guidelines, as required for type approval of IMO. The study results show that the Ozone BWTS is capable of meeting the Ballast Water Performance Standard under Regulation D-2 of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments, and also the more stringent standards being proposed under US legislation.

  • 국제해사기구(International Maritime Organization : IMO)에서는 선박에서 발생되는 오염물질 등에 대한 규제강화를 위하여 최근 새로운 해사환경협약의 채택 및 발효를 강력히 추진하고 있다. 우리나라는 국제해사기구의 A그룹 이사국으로서의 국제적인 위상과 해양환경 보호를 위하여 현재 발효되고 추진 중에 있는 협약들에 대한 연구와 대처를 효과적으로 하여야 한다. 이 논문은 해양관련 환경규제협약인 벨러스트수 배출규제협약에 대한 주요 현안을 파악하고 분석하여 이에 따른 대응책을 제시하고자 한다.

A New Type of CPPM Machine with Stator Axial Magnetic Ring

  • This paper proposes a new type of consequent-pole permanent-magnet (CPPM) machine with stator axial magnetic ring that increases torque capability over a wide speed range and enhances efficiency for the built-in rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine used in new energy vehicles. The excitation winding of the CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine in the stator is replaced by ferrite magnetic ring to simplify the structure and manufacturing process of the machine. The basic structure and magnetic regulation principle of the proposed machine are introduced and compared with the traditional interior rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine and CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine. Finally, experimental results of a new type of CPPM synchronous motor prototype with axial magnetic ring are introduced in the paper.

  • Recently, the development of the Marina port is determined as a national plan, and a variety of leisure boats and facilities on the field has been of critical interest. In particular, yachts are designed and produced mostly at small shipbuilding companies and research institute. The regulation and historic data, however, about the safety of structure are not readily available. Therefore, it is required to evaluate the strength of ship structure. This paper deals with the estimation of local strength of 40 feet sailing yacht by using finite element analysis. The forebody, mast and connection parts of a FRP yacht structure are evaluated. In addition, the results are compared with the regulation of Lloyd's register and Korean register.

소형 트랙터용 전자제어 직접 분사식 디젤 엔진 고강도 실린더 블록의 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Design of High strength Cylinder Block about Common Rail Direct Injection Diesel Engine for Small Tractor)

  • Recently, global warming has become severe, and regulation is established for carbon savings each field. its regulation is applied to various fields using IC engine such as automobile, ship, agricultural machine. Therefore engine block applied Common Rail Direct Injection(CRDI) technology, that carry out thermal-structure analysis to examine design. The thermal load about 900℃ by explosion was applied in cylinder. And pressure about 9 MPa(90 Bar) was applied to structure analysis. As a result, it was the highest at 185.99℃ at the top of cylinder. Static-structure analysis applied thermal load, that was shown maximum equivalent stress at 142.59 Mpa and Maximum principal stress 145.03 MPa, Minimum principal stress -149 MPa. When compare analysis results to material property, it design is safety structurally.

선박 거주구역의 방호를 위한 폐쇄형 미분무 노즐의 화재진압성능평가 연구 (A Study on Fire Extinguishing Performance of Closed Type Water Mist Nozzles for Ship's Accommodation)

  • 특수선(FPSO, Drillship)의 거주구역이나, 대형 여객선(크루즈선) 공간의 70% 이상을 차지하는 수용시설(accommodation), 공공장소, 서비스 구역 등은 24시간 사람이 상주하는 구역임으로 화재로부터 안전하게 보호되어야 한다. 이를 위해 국제해사기구(IMO)에서는 SOLAS II-2 Reg. 10.6과 FSS code Ch. 7에 적합한 미분무 소화설비를 설치할 것을 강제화하고 있다. 이러한 미분무 소화설비는 미분무 노즐, 압력용기, 섹션밸브, 펌프유닛 등으로 구성되는데 특히 핵심부품인 미분무 노즐은 최근에 개정된 IMO Res. MSC 265(84)에 따라 노즐성능시험 및 화재진압성능시험을 통해 선급인증을 득해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 기준을 만족하는 폐쇄형 미분무 노즐을 개발하고 선실 및 복도, 공공장소, 창고에 대한 화재시험을 통해 각 장소에 적용 가능한 총 5종의 미분무노즐의 성능평가를 실시하였다.

폴리에틸렌 보트의 내구성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimation of Fatigue Performance of Polyethylene Boat)

  • 선체 내구성은 기존 선급 규격에 의하여 구조 치수를 결정한 후 이러한 치수의 선체구조에 대하여 스펙트랄과 결정론적 및 간이 방법에 의하여 평가되고 있다. 이러한 방법은 선체재료를 선급 규격에서 제안하고 있는 재료로 구성하는 경우에는 적용할 수 있으나 선체 재료를 신소재로 구성하는 경우에는 적용할 수 없다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 폴리에틸렌 보트 선체에 대한 피로 손상을 평가하기 위하여 선체에 부하되는 단기간 선체 가속도를 직접 측정하고 이러한 데이터를 기초로 구조설계와 피로수명평가방법이 확립되지 못한 소형 선박의 선체 내구성을 선형누적손상 법칙으로 평가하는 방법을 제안하였다. 개발된 폴리에틸렌 보트의 경우 최대 가속도 상태에서 보트에 부하되는 최대 Von-Mises 응력은 1.8MPa로서 $1{\times}10^9$ 사이클 피로강도 5.9MPa 아래에 있고 유한피로수명개념을 적용한 폴리에틸렌 보트의 내구수명은 415년으로 평가되어져 거의 무한수명을 가지고 있다.

해양사고 예방을 위한 국내 연안선 항해당직자의 업무 부하 분석 (Analysis of Workload of the Domestic Coastal Ship Duty Officer to Prevent Marine Accidents)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to measure the workload of Korea coastal ship crew members, to investigate whether they are following work-break time regulations and to identify the main causes of their workload. Background: According to the US Coast Guard, about 33% of human casualties are reported to be due to fatigue, and 30% of marine casualties reported by the British Marine Accident Investigation Agency (MAIB) are attributed to crew fatigue. But the coastal ship are not managed for business hours and breaks despite the harsh environment. Method: The workload of duty crew members on the 100 domestic coastal vessels was measured. It was also investigated whether they are following domestic and international work-break time regulations. Finally, the marine accidents resulted from the fatigue of the crew was analyzed. Results: As a result of workload analysis, the workload on the 42~62% of the vessels exceeded the standard of working time on the related regulation. The workload increased with the number of inbound and outbound ports. Especially, in the system where there are two seafarers, the workload exceeded the working time requirement. As a result of the marine accidents analysis on 100 vessels, it was found that collision and grounding occurred due to fatigue, workload and drowsiness in 7 marine accidents out of 30 marine accidents. Conclusion: It is necessary for the shipping companies to introduce an operation management manual for the management of the crews' workload and reasonable crew arrangement. It is also required for crew members to easily record work times and for shipping companies to manage the record. It would be possible to prevent many marine accidents by providing adequate rest to the crews and flexibly adjusting their working hours. Application: The results of this study can be used as fundamental data to manage crews' fatigue and to make job management manuals.

국내연안에서의 SkySails 시스템 활용에 대한 검토와 효용분석 (Examination and Utility Analysis about SkySails System Application in the Coastal Waters)

  • 고유가와 자연환경에 대한 관심증대에 따른 선박의 환경규제로 많은 해운회사들이 어려움을 겪고 있으며 그에 따라 선박의 에너지 이용 효율성에 대한 관심이 증대하고 있다. 또한 향후 시간이 흐를수록 이러한 문제들의 중요성과 관심은 점점 증대될 것으로 보인다. 이에 대한 한 방안으로 독일의 Skyssails사가 4년간의 개발로 완성한 스카이세일즈 시스템은 새로운 관심을 가지게 한다. 이는 선박에 대형 연을 달아 연비를 낮추는 시스템으로 현재 유럽의 일부 선박에 실용화되고 있는 기술이다. 이에 따라 연의 활용과 관련이 깊은 국내연안의 날씨 등을 고려하여 동북아 피더네트워크가 발달되어 있는 국내연안에서 Strysail 활용에 대한 검토와 효용을 분석하고, 유류절감비용, 환경비용을 추정하였다. 그 결과 Strysail 시스템이 보조추진기구로써 연비절감과 환경비용절감에 많은 도움이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

A60급 구획 적용 격벽 관통용 관의 열전달 특성 II: 관 재질 및 단열재 종류에 따른 방화시험 (Heat Transfer Characteristics of Bulkhead Penetration Piece for A60 Class Compartment II: Fire Resistance Test for Piece Material and Insulation Types)

  • In the case of a fire accident on a ship or an offshore plant, the design of the bulkhead penetration piece must be verified via a fire test procedure (FTP), as specified by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC). The purpose of this study is to verify both the numerical analysis results and the design specifications for penetration pieces that could be applied to the A60 class bulkhead division. In this study, the FTP was carried out in accordance with the test procedure prescribed in the MSC regulation. In order to review the fire resistance performance according to the material type, bulkhead penetration pieces for the FTP were made from brass, carbon steel for machine structures (S45C), and austenite stainless steel (SUS316). In addition, spray-type insulation and mechanical fastener-type insulation were applied to investigate the fire resistance performance according to the type of insulation. To verify the heat transfer numerical analysis results for the A60 class bulkhead penetrating piece from this test study, the design specifications of the penetrating piece material and the insulation type applicable to a ship and an offshore plant were identified.
