뇌 차폐 해석에서 뇌격흡인 거리 수식과 영향 비교 (Comparison of Striking Distance Formulae and Their Effect on Lightning Shielding Analysis)

  • This paper compares the performance of lightning shielding analysis methods using the seven striking distance formulae in substation. For comparison, we evaluate the number of expected strikes and exposed area using WinIGS Software. Seven striking distance formulae are compared using the electrogeometric model analysis and the rolling sphere method. Based on the electrogeometric model analysis, the risk of shielding failure in either the whole substation or parts of it is determined. According to the simulation results, one can justify whether the substation satisfies the criterion of shielding design. In particular, according to the rolling sphere method, the exposed areas in substation determine the location of the additional shielding poles or shield wires. Therefore, the installation of the additional shielding poles and shield wires in substation was accepted by shield design at the phase conductors exposed in the larger area.

  • New capacitance modeling and transient analysis for multi-layer interconnects with shielding effect are presented. The upper layer capacitances with under-layer shielding lines are represented by introducing a filling factor η which can be defined as the ratio of upper-layer line length to the total under-layer line width. The upper-layer effective self capacitances considering two extreme cases which the underlayer metals are assumed as a ground or as a Vdd are modeled. The signal transient analysis with shielding effect model is performed.

Analysis of Different 500kV HVAC Transmission Lines Lightning Shielding

  • The lightning shielding of different 500 kV HVAC-TL high voltage AC transmission lines was analyzed. The studied transmission lines were horizontal flat single circuit and double circuit transmission lines. The lightning attractive areas were drawn around power conductors and shielding wires. To draw the attractive areas of the high voltage transmission lines, transmission line power conductors, shielding wires and lightning leader were modeled. Different parameters were considered such as lightningslope, ground slope and wind on lightning attractive areas. From the calculated results, the power conductors voltages affected on attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires. For negative lightning leader, the attractive area around the transmission line power conductor increased around power conductors stressed by positives voltage and decreased around power conductors stressed by negative voltage. In spite of this, the attractivearea of the transmission line shielding wire increasedaround the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by the positive voltage and decreased around the shielding wire above the power conductor stressed by negative voltage. The attractive areas around power conductors and shielding wires were affected by the surrounding conditions, such as lightning leader slope, ground slope. The AC voltage of the transmission lines made the shielding areas changing with time.

Effect of different tungsten compound reinforcements on the electromagnetic radiation shielding properties of neopentyl glycol polyester

  • In this study, isophtalic neopentyl glycol polyester (NPG-PES) based composites with different loading ratios of pure tungsten metal (W), tungsten (VI) oxide (WO3), tungsten boron (WB) and tungsten carbide (WC) composites were prepared as alternative shielding materials for ionizing electromagnetic radiation (IEMR) shielding. Structural characterizations of the composites were done. Gamma spectrometric analysis of composites for 80-2000 keV energy range was performed and their usability as IEMR shielding was discussed. As a result, the produced composites showed a shielding performance of 60-100% of the lead (the most widely used IEMR shielding material) depending on the reinforcement material, reinforcement loading rate and experimental conditions. Thus, it was reported that produced composites could be an alternative to lead shieldings that have several disadvantages as toxic properties, difficulty of processing and inelasticity.

  • 노심 및 원자로의 구조 및 구성 물질이 확정되어 있지 않은 개발단계의 신형원자로의 압력용기에 대한 $R-{\theta}$좌표에서 차폐해석을 수행하려면, 매번 선원항에 대한 모델작업을 하는데 많은 노력과 시간이 소요된다. 따라서 $R-\theta$좌표에 의한 반경방향의 원자로 압력용기에 대한 차폐해석에 있어서 노심의 기하학적 구조에 영향을 받지 않고 해석할 수 있는 체계를 개발하였다. 개발된 해석체계를 이용하여 육방형 노심배열을 갖는 일체형 원자로의 압력용기에 대한 차폐해석을 수행하여, 그 결과를 MCNP 해석결과와 비교 분석하였다. 분석결과 개발된 해석체계가 좀 더 보수적인 결과를 나타내었으며 이는 차폐해석측면에서 타당하다. 또한 이 해석체계를 개발함으로써 그 동안 수작업으로 작성하였던 노심내부에 대한 모델에 대한 오차를 줄일 수 있으며 이에 소요되는 시간 및 노력을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

방사선 불투과성 물질 산화이테르븀(Ytterbium oxide)의 방사선 융합 차폐성능 분석 (Analysis of Radiation Fusion Shielding Performance of Ytterbium Oxide, a Radiation Impermeable Substance)

  • 의료기관의 방사선 차폐체의 차폐물질이 친환경소재로 변화되면서 기존 납의 일반된 차폐특성보다 차폐물질의 특성에 따른 방사선 방어가 중요한 요소로 대두되고 있다. 납과 유사한 차폐물질로 대표적인 텡스텐과 황산바륨은 친환경 소재로 시트나, 섬유 형태로 제작되어 사용되고 있다. 이테르븀은 치과 방사선영역에서 불투과성 물질로 불소화합물로 사용되었으며, 에너지대별 차폐특성과 기존 친환경소재의 차폐특성과 비교하여 x-선 차폐영역에서 차폐성능을 평가하고자 한다. 동일한 공정과 조건하에 세 종류의 차폐시트를 제작하여 실험하였으며, 의료방사선 영역에서 텅스텐과 약 5 % 차폐성능 차이가 나타났으며, 황산바륨보다 우수한 차폐성능을 보였다. 차폐시트의 단면 구조에서는 인자의 배열이 일정하지 못하는 큰 단점을 보였다. 따라서 산화이테르븀은 의료방사선 차폐물질로 충분한 가능성을 보였으며, 입자배열 구조와 입자크기 조절로 차폐성능을 향상시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Analysis of radiation safety management status of medical linear accelerator facilities in Korea

  • The rapid rise in the application of novel treatment techniques, such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), motivated us to survey the status of Korea's radiation safety management and the shielding designs of facilities employing medical linear accelerators (LINACs). To this end, a questionnaire was used to collect information on LINAC facilities and treatments, workload, shielding design, shielding management, and path of obtaining shielding information. Out of 100 domestic institutions, 52 responded to the survey. Approximately 70% of the institutions utilized IMRT for more than 60% of their cases, and an IMRT factor of 5 was adopted by 75% of these institutions. Over 80% of the institutions accounted for the applied time-averaged dose rate per week and instantaneous dose equivalent rates in their shielding designs. Approximately 45% of the institutions obtained important shielding information via a radiation shielding design company and the NCRP-151 report. Overall, most facilities were shown to follow the standards recommended by the relevant international agencies. However, the requirement to establish standardized shielding design information and clarify ambiguous paths for information acquisition was also highlighted. Therefore, the study's results can be used as a foundation for establishing a safety control system and for creating adequate shielding designs.

경량 연자성 소재의 군 시설물 적용 시 방사선 차폐효과 분석 (Analysis of Radiation Shielding Effect of Soft Magnetic Material applied to Military Facility)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 경량 연자성 소재의 방사선 차폐 효과를 분석하여 군사시설에 대한 적용 가능성을 확인하는 것이다. 연자성 물질은 EMP 차폐에 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 물질이 방사선 차폐에도 효과적이라면 군 방호에 효과적으로 적용이 가능할 것으로 예상된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 감마선 차폐 효과를 확인하기 위해 Cs-137 및 Co-60 선원을 사용하여 실험을 수행하였으며, 중성자 차폐 효과를 평가하기 위해 Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) 모델링을 적용하였다. 그 결과 연자성 소재의 두께가 증가함에 따라 감마선과 중성자의 선형 감쇠 법칙에 의한 차폐성능이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 연자성 소재를 군사용 구조물 등에 적용할 경우에 방사선 차폐에 효과적이라는 것을 확인하였다.

Performance Analysis of Low-level Radiation Shielding Sheet with Diamagnetic Nanoparticles

  • In this study, the authors attempted to produce a medical radiation shielding fiber that can be produced at a nanosize scale and that is, unlike lead, harmless to the human body. The performance of the proposed medical radiation shielding fiber was then evaluated. First, diamagnetic bismuth oxide, an element which, among elements that have a high atomic number and density, is harmless to the human body, was selected as the shielding material. Next, 10-100 nm sized nanoparticles in powder form were prepared by ball milling the bismuth oxide ($Bi_2O_3$), the average particle size of which is $1-500{\mu}m$, for approximately 10 minutes. The manufactured bismuth oxide was formed into a colloidal solution, and the radiation shielding fabric was fabricated by curing after coating the solution on one side or both sides of the fabric. The thicknesses of the shielding sheets prepared with bismuth oxide were 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, and 1.0 mm. An experimental method was used to measure the absorbed dose and irradiation dose by using the lead equivalent test method of X-ray protection goods presented by Korean Industrial Standards; the resultant shielding rate was then calculated. From the results of this study, the X-ray shielding effect of the shielding sheet with 0.1 mm thickness was about 55.37% against 50 keV X-ray, and the X-ray shielding effect in the case of 1.0 mm thickness showed shielding characteristics of about 99.36% against 50 keV X-ray. In conclusion, it is considered that nanosized-bismuth radiation shielding fiber developed in this research will contribute to reducing the effects of primary X-ray and secondary X-ray such as when using a scattering beam at a low level exposure.

근거리장에 놓인 저전도율 차폐막의 차폐 효과 분석 (Analysis of Shielding Effectiveness of Low Conductivity Shield Layers within Near-field Region)

  • 노이즈 소스의 근거리장에 저전도율 차폐막이 놓여있을 때 차폐막 두께에 따른 EMI 차폐효과를 분석하였다. 노이즈 소스로는 광대역 특성을 갖는 나선형 안테나를 이용하였으며, 저전도율 차폐 재료로는 그래파이트를 선정하였다. 나선형 안테나 두 개를 만들어 두 안테나 사이의 투과계수를 분석하였고, 송수신 안테나 사이의 거리는 5 cm와 10 cm인 두 경우에 대해 수행하였다. 차폐막의 두께는 1 um에서 200 um까지 변화시켰다. 주파수는 100 MHz에서 6 GHz까지 변화시켜 최대 70 dB의 SE(Shielding Effectiveness)를 얻었다. 본 시뮬레이션에서는 차폐막 재료인 그래파이트의 특성상 전기적 차폐(electronic shielding)를 이용하였다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 향후 자기 차폐를 구현하여 차폐 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 연구할 예정이다.
