TIG 용접에서의 실드 가스 혼합비에 따른 아크 압력분포 특성 (The Characteristics on Arc Pressure Distribution of TIG Welding with Shield Gas Mixing Ratio)

  • Arc pressure is one of important factors in understanding physical arc phenomena. Especially it affects on the penetration, size and shape of TIG welding. Some researches were reported on the effect of arc pressure in low and middle current region. But there are not any research in high current region. The purpose of this study is to investigate the arc pressure distribution with mixing ratio of shield gas such as Ar and He gases. A Cu block with water cooling was specifically designed and used as an anode electrode in order to measure the arc pressure in high current region. Then, the arc pressure distribution was measured with change in welding current and mixing ratio of shield gases. The arc force was obtained by numerically integrating the measured results. As the results, it was shown that the arc pressure was concentrated at the central part of the arc in middle and high current regions when a pure Ar gas was used. In case of Ar + He mixing gas, the arc pressure was much lower than that of pure Ar gas. In addition, it was widely distributed to radial direction.

  • In the circumferential welding of pipe, welding phenomenon changes with the position of pipe. Especially in the overhead position, back bead of vertical-up position would be sunk. To investigate the size of back bead and keyhole with the change of the flow rate of pilot and shield gas at each position, bead-on plate welds were conducted on 6mm thickness SS400 with inclined-up position. When the rest of welding conditions remained constant, the width of back bead was increased as the flow rate of pilot gas was increased. And back bead tended to convex as the flow rate of shield gas was increased.

  • Bead shape control with gas force process has been developed to overcome the concave back bead in pipe orbital welding. However, It is impossible to make a convex back bead using the existing gas nozzle, because it has high gas-consuming and low gas force. The purpose of this paper, to develop optimum shape of nozzle which to reduce the consumption of gas, maximizing the shield gas force with low cost and high productivity coincide the Green welding. In this paper venturi-type nozzle was designed by using the Venturi meter and compared velocity, pressure, arc shape in the flat position with existing CP-nozzle. As a result, Venturi-type nozzle's maximum velocity and pressure was improved at the same flow rate. Also heat input was increased by the arc contraction in the flat position.

As a result, CP-type occurs the wormholes in the overhead position, but the Venturi-type without the pore and formed a good bead appearance.

  • Recently many studies for improvement of productivity and automation of process are in progress, and among others, laser-arc hybrid welding that combined laser and arc has attracted much attention. Since parameters by interactions as well as the parameters of each heat source should be considered, There are a lot of hardship in actual application, even though many researches have been done so far. Therefore in this study, bead welding was done to examine the effects of the flow rate of shield gas and the distance between laser and arc during laser-arc hybrid welding. As for hybrid heat source, disk laser and MIG were used. As experiment result, sound bead and weld with no defect were formed when the flow rate of front and rear shield gas were respectively 20 l/min and 15 l/min, and deep penetration was done at DLA=3 mm.

  • We have studied on welding dissimilar materials of Carbon steel SCP1-S by using laser beam. In this research we have performed some experiments to know the possibility of welding dissimilar materials using laser beam and magnetic fields by adjusting the power output of 35W laser. Other conditions of the experiments were as follows : the welding speed was varied in the range 10 m/min nitrogen gas was used as shield gas, the flow value of shield gas was ranged 10 L/min. In order to ascertain of the welded surface, we have done the tensile strength testing, the hardness testing and the microscope observation. As a result, we have found that tensile strength was the highest at the condition of the welding speed of 10mm/s, the flow value of 10 L/min, the gap of two materials 0, and the use of nitrogen gas. Above testings have also showed that the tensile strength was generally satisfactory since the penetration of welding was almost complete due to the thinness of the materials. In addition, the formation of the welded area was excellent when it had the highest tensile strength.

  • In order to derive the detailed design of Thermal Shield Cryopanel. which plays a role to make the Tokamak Nuclear Fusion Equipment work at both static and efficient conditions the commercially available software package FLUENT Version 5.3, was utilized. This study investigated the effects of thermal sources and distributions on the temperatures of Lid. Body. Base. and EH-Port Cryopanel by the numerical technique whose grid generations cover the solid and 9as region of the panel. The physical model of the Thermal Shield Cryopanel is that the 10mm diameter of the pipe with 1mm thickness is soldered on the Stainless steel Panel with 4mm thickness. The heat fluxes to the panel are assumed to be by thermal radiation in the vacuum space and by conduction through the supporters. The inlet conditions of Helium gas are 20 atmospheric Pressures and 60K temperature. The panel shapes with cooling Pipes and the operational conditions to keep appropriate temperature distribution of Thermal Shield Cryopanel Have been found and suggested.

진공 인터럽터의 쉴드 형상 최적설계 (Optimal Design of a Shield in Vacuum Interrupter)

  • In this paper a nobel optimum design method is presented for a shield in a vacuum interrupter which is equipped in switchgear to improve its electric insulation capability. The design of Taguchi experiment method which is based on the results by finite element method is used to find optimum design conditions. The important design factors are chosen at first and the concept of signal to noise ratio is applied to evaluate the vacuum interrupter performance, and the optimal values of each parameters are determined. From the results of various analyses, it is shown that the shield plate in circuit circuit breaker compartment of switchgear can reduce the concentration of electric field intensity. This method is very useful to design the construction of a shield in a short time. Consequently, the insulation capability of circuit breaker compartment in a gas insulated switchgear is improved by adopting an additional optimized shaped shield.

방독면 안경 개발 (Development of Gas-mask Spectacles)

  • 목적: 현재의 방독면은 안경을 착용하는 사람들에게는 매우 불편한 구조로 되어 있다. 이를 개선하여 군인이나 소방관들이 자신을 보호하고 인명을 구조하는데 도움이 되도록 하였다. 방법: 외면렌즈와 내면의 시력보정용 렌즈의 2중 구조로 되어 있는 것을 아크릴 프레임을 방독면에 부착하는 단일 구조로 변경하고 실리콘 차단제를 이용하여 렌즈와 프레임 사이를 밀폐하여 가스의 유입을 방지하게 하였다. 렌즈에서 발생하게 되는 비점수차제거와 정간거리 유지를 위해 S자형의 프레임으로 개발하였다. 결과: 완전한 시력교정과 가스차단이 가능하고 일반 안경처럼 안경렌즈를 교환하여 사용할 수 있게 되었으며 시선과 렌즈면의 경사로 발생하던 비점수차 0.53D~1.78D, 짧은 정간거리로 발생하던 0.07D~0.66D의 과교정, 전경각 미설정으로 발생하던 0.1D~0.3D의 비점수차를 제거할 수 있게 되었다. 결론: 방독면을 쓴 상태에서도 밝은 시야의 확보가 가능하여 전투력 향상과 인명구조 활동 등에서 큰 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • The thermal shield for the TF coils and PF coils has been located between the coils and vacuum vessel. The thermal shielding cryopanel is cooled under 80K by a fored flow of helium gas using cooing pipes on the cryopanel. Design of the KSTAR thermal shield of vacuum vessel is described.
