The present study investigates the impact shear strength of thermal aged Sn-3Ag-0.5Cu lead-free solder joints at impact speeds ranging from 0.5 m/s to 2.5 m/s. The specimens were thermal aged for 24, 100, 250 and 1000 hours at $100^{\circ}C$. The experimental results demonstrate that the shear strength of the solder joint decreases with an increase in the load speed and aging time. The shear strength of the solder joint aged averagely decreased by 43% with an increase in the strain rate. For the as-reflowed specimens, the mode II stress intensity factor ($K_{II}$) of interfacial IMC between Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu and a copper substrate also was found to decrease from $1.63MPa.m^{0.5}$ to $0.97MPa.m^{0.5}$ in the speed range tested here. The degradations in the shear strength and fracture toughness of the aged solder joints are mainly caused by the growth of IMC layers at the solder/substrate interface.
Although dental porcelain demonstrates lasting esthetic results, it suffers from inherent brittle fractures. Various techniques and materials for intraoral porcelain repair has been suggested. This study investigated the in vitro shear strength of three porcelain repair systems according to aspects of the porcelain fractures. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of three porcelain repair systems(All-bond, Clearfil, Scotchprime) according to fractured surface of porcelain - fused - to - metal restorations. For this study specimens were divided into five groups : group 1 represented fracture occurred at body porcelain layer, group 2 represented fracture occurred at opaque porcelain layer, group 3 represented fracture including 1/3 of metal exposure, group 4 represented fracture including 2/3 of metal exposure, and group 5 represented all metal surface was exposed. Specimens were stored in double deionized water(24Hr, $37^{\circ}C$) and thermocycling was performed(24Hr, 1080cycles), and subjected to a shear force parallel to the repair resin and porcelain interface by use of an University Testing Machine. The results of this study were obtained as follows : 1. In group 1 and 2, bond strength was relatively high, and bond strength showing reducing tendency as exposure of metal was increased. 2. In group 1, bond strength was relatively high, and no significant differences in porcelain repair system. 3. In group 2, 3 and 4, All-bond and Clearfil provided significantly higher bond strength than scotchprime. 4. In group 5, bond strength was the lowest among all groups and especially in case if Scotchprime. 5. Cohesive failure was observed in group 1 and 2, adhesive failure was observed in group 5, and cohesive / adhesive failures were observed in group 3 and 4.

This study is to suggest the details of new concept of bridge deck. Experimental studies on the behavior of a inverted T-shaped steelconcrete composite deck were carried out. The part of inverted T-shaped steel is embedded in concrete. Reinforced concrete deck specimen and composite deck specimens were fabricated and static bending fracture tests were conducted. The ultimate strength and fracture strength of specimens were evaluated. The effects of shear hole crossing bars of composite deck were also analyzed. From the results of experiments, composite deck with shear hole crossing bar increased shear strength, and showed typical tensile failure. Ultimate strength and fracture strength of composite deck with shear hole crossing bar are higher than those of reinforced concrete deck. The displacement of composite deck is higher than that of reinforced concrete deck.

To modify some problems of ACI shear provisions, ultimate shear strength equation considering size effect and arch action to compute shear strength in high-strength concrete beams without stirrups is presented in this research. Three basic equations, namely size reduction factor, rho factor, and arch action factor, are derived from crack band model of fracture mechanics, analysis of previous some shear equations for longitudinal reinforcement ratio, and concrete strut described as linear function in deep beams. Constants of basic equations are determined using statistical analysis of previous shear testing data. To verify proposed shear equation for each variable, namely d, , ρ, f/sub c/' and aid, about 250 experimental data are used and proposed shear equation is compared with ACI 318-99 code, CEB-FIP Model code, Kim & Park's equation and Zsutty's equation. While proposed shear equation is simpler than other shear equations, it is shown to be economical predictions and reasonable safety margin. Hence proposed shear strength equation is expected to be applied to practice shear design.
For the purpose of obtaining a basic data in selecting a suitable material with clinical care, this study was designed to measure the shear stress and to examine the fracture pattern of various dentin bonding restorative materials using 43 extracted bicuspids. The following results were obtained. 1. In dentin, Silux/Scotchbond group showed the highest value ($34.5{\pm}14.7kg/cm^2$) and Fuji Ionomer Type II group and Heliosit/Dentin-Adhesit group showed almost same bond strength in the next place. Durafill/Dentin-Adhesive group showed an infinitesimal value. ($3.1{\pm}1.4kg/cm^2$) 2. Every group showed no difference in bond strength between upper and lower teeth. Between buccal and lingual surfaces. Fuji Ionomer Type II and Durafill/Dentin-Adhesive groups showed too. But, in Silux/Scotchbond and Heliosit/Dentin-Adhesit groups, it was shown that the bond strength in lingual was stronger than in buccal. 3. There was resin fracture with cohesive fracture of bonding agent in Enamel group. In dentin, adhesive-cohesive fracture and adhesive fracture were shown. 4. The stronger bond strength was, the more frequently cohesive fracture occurred. Dentin-Adhesit group showed specific shining appearance as if varnish became hard.

Latex modification of concrete provides the material with higher flexural strength. This increase in flexural strength can attribute to the crack-arresting action of polymer in concrete, and also to the bonding they provide between the matrix and aggregates. This experimental study presents the fracture behavior of 12 flexural reinforced concrete beams repaired or strengthened by latex-modified concrete with the main experimental variables such as overlay thickness, strength thickness, and shear reinforcement. The results are as follow: All beam specimens having shear reinforcement were failed by delamination rupture at concrete interface at about 80% of ultimate loading after flexural cracking. All specimens overlayed and strengthened by latex-modified concrete (LMC) showed higher ultimate flexural strength than OPC control specimen, but lower than LMC control specimen. This increase in flexural strength could attribute to the high bonding they provide between the matrix and aggregates. All specimens except two shear unreinforced showed quite similar and consistent displacement behavior. The effect of overlay and strength thickness on the load-displacement relationship were a small at this study.
In the past it has been often observed that the shear stresses at failure are much smaller than the shear strength obtained from traditional laboratory tests and conventional analysis technique is inadequate in stiff soil, such as cemented sand. Many researchers have brought attention to the fact that the presence of flaws i.e. fissures, cracks, joints have a great effect on the strength and overall stress-strain behavior of such materials. They have thought that fracture mechanics may appropriately be adopted as a good tool for analysis of these materials. However, the use of fracture mechanics concept especially for cemented sands is faced with difficulties in obtaining relevant parameters, because fracture parameters and predictions are highly dependent on the material constituents and the size of specimens as well as the size of particles. This paper addresses the effects of sizes which include specimen and aggregate on fracture properties of cemented sand. The results of laboratory tests show that the sizes of specimens and particle have a great effect on the fracture properties such as nominal strength of cemented sand.
PURPOSE. To evaluate the effect of surface treatments and repair materials on the shear bond strength and to measure the fracture toughness of CAD/CAM provisional restoration materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four CAD/CAM (3D printing: Nextdent C&B and ZMD-1000B Temporary, CAD/CAM resin block: Yamahachi PMMA disk and Huge PMMA block) and four conventional (monometacrylate: Jet and Alike, dimetacrylate: Luxatemp and Protemp 4) materials were selected to fabricate disk-shaped specimens and divided into six groups according to surface treatment (n=10). CAD/CAM materials were repaired with Jet or Luxatemp, while conventional materials were repaired with their own materials. The shear bond strength was measured by using universal testing machine. Ten rectangular column-shaped specimens for each material were fabricated to measure the fracture toughness by single edge v notched beam technique. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way ANOVA. RESULTS. The highest shear bond strength of CAD/CAM materials was achieved by SiC paper + sandblasting. It was also accomplished when repairing 3D printing materials with Luxatemp, and repairing CAD/CAM resin blocks with Jet. Yamahachi PMMA disk showed the highest fracture toughness. Nextdent C&B showed the lowest fracture toughness value but no statistically significant difference from Alike and Luxatemp (P>.05). CONCLUSION. In order to successfully repair the CAD/CAM provisional restoration, mechanical surface treatment and appropriate repair material according to the CAD/CAM material type should be selected. The CAD/CAM provisional materials have proper mechanical properties for clinical use as compared to conventional materials.
In this experiment, to find optimum brazing conditions for Cu/Stainless Steel brazing using filler metals of Ag-Cu-Zn-Cd system, first of all spreading ratio was tested on 304 stainless Steel and low carbon steel. And then shear test of brazed joint was executed. As the result of that, the shear strengths of brazed joints were the range of 60-90 MPa. Through microstructure analysis for brazed interface layer, We found as follows. Firstly interface layer increased as time increased. Secondly continuous layer of Ag-Cd compound was observed along the side of stainless steel. Also by means of EDS analysis for fracture surface, ductile fracture was occurred and precipitates on the fracture surface were found to include Cr, Mn, Si in Ag-rich phase.

A mechanical press joining was investigated in ender for joining A1-5052 sheets for automobile body weight reduction. Static tensile and fatigue tests were conducted using tensile-shear specimens for evaluation of fatigue strength of the joint. During Tox joining process for A1-5052 plates, using the current sheet thickness and punch diameter, the optimal applied punching force was found to be 32 kN under the current joining condition. For the static tensile-shear experiment results, the fracture mode is classified into interface fracture mode, in which the neck area fractured due to influence of neck thickness, and pull-out fracture mode due to influence of plastic deformation of the joining area. And, during fatigue tests for the A1-5052 tensile shear specimens, interface failure mode occurred in the region of low cycle. The fatigue endurance limit approached to 6 percents of the maximum applied load, considering fatigue lifetime of $2.5\times10^6$ cycles.
