A Study on Shape Optimization of Electro-Magnetic Proportional Solenoid (비례솔레노이드 형상 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • There are two types of solenoid actuator for force and position control of the fluid power system. One is an on-off solenoid actuator and the other is an electro-magnetic proportional actuator. They have some different characteristics for attraction force according to solenoid shape. Attraction force of the on-off solenoid actuator only depends on flux density. And the stroke-force characteristics of the proportional solenoid actuator are determined by the shape of the control cone. In this paper, steady state characteristics of the solenoid actuator for electro-hydraulic proportional valve determined by the shape of control cone are analyzed using finite element method and it is confirmed that the proportional solenoid actuator has a constant attractive force in the control region independently on the stroke position. And the shape of control cone is optimized using 1+1 evolution strategy to get a constant force. In the optimization algorithm, control cone length, thickness and taper length are used as a design parameter.

  • Most previous researches for the hybrid composite materials such as FRMLs(Al/AFRP, Al/GFRP) have evaluated the fatigue delamination behavior using the traditional fracture mechanism. However, most previous researches have not generally been firmed yet. Because delamination growth behavior in hybrid composite should be consider delamination growth rate, $dA_D$/da using the delamination shape factors, fs instead of traditional fracture mechanic parameters. The major purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between delamination shape factor, fs and delamination growth rate, $dA_D$ . And a propose parameter on the delamination aspect ratio, b/a. The details of the study are as follow : 1) Relationship between crack length, a and delamination width,b. 2) Relationship between delamination aspect ration, b/a and delamination area rate,($(A_D)_{N}(A_D)_{ALL}$. 3) Variation of delamination growth rate, $dA_D/da$ was attendant on delamination shape factors, $fs_1$, $fs_2$, $fs_3$. The test results indicated the delamination growth rate depends on delamination shape factors.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method for locating human lips. Based on Point Distribution Model and Principle Component Analysis, a lip shape model is built. Lip boundary model is represented based on the concatenated gray level distribution model. We calculate the distribution of shape parameters using Gaussian mixture. The problem to locate lip is simplified as the minimization problem of matching object function. The Down Hill Simplex Algorithm is used for the minimization with Gaussian Mixture for setting initial condition and refining estimate of lip shape parameter, which can refrain iteration from converging to local minima. The experiments have been performed for many images, and show very encouraging result.

  • For the reliability assessment of solenoid actuator, firstly, we analyzed the cause of major failures and the effect of each failure modes through FMEA and FTA, and decided the main test items through 2-stage QFD. And then, as a measure of life of solenoid actuator, TypeII censored five data were collected from and operation test which was performed as the life test of solenoid actuator. In this paper, we present the reliability parameters of solenoid actuator like shape parameter, scale parameter, etc., which they are produced by MINITAB analysis and marking of Weibull probability paper using the measure of life, and also present the 6 kinds of detailed failure mode analysis.

  • Let $\Pi_i, \cdots, \Pi_k$ denote k gamma distributions with a common known shape parameter (degrees of freedom) r and scale parameters $\theta_1, \cdots, \theta_k$, respectively. Kim proposed an improved lower bound LB$(\delta^*)$, which concerns a two-stage elimimation type procedure for selecting the population associated with the largest scale parameter $max_{1\leqi\leqk} \theta_i$. The design constants (nr, mr, c) are given for k=4(1)10, $p^*=.95,.90 and \delta^*=1.75,2.0$. With these design constants, a comparison study was made with the procedure of Lee and Choi. As can be seen from the table, these are moderate amount of savings in the expected total sample size. Thus, together with the result in Lee and Choi, the two-stage procedure can perform much better than a single stage procedure.

  • A grounding electrode has the transient grounding impedance characteristics against lightning surges. So the performance of grounding electrodes should be evaluated as a grounding impedance as well as the ground resistance. The frequency-dependent grounding impedance is varied with the shape and size of grounding electrode and is divided into both inductive and capacitive behaviors. This paper presents a theoretical analysis for the grounding impedance determined by the size of grounding electrode using the distributed parameter circuit model. EMTP and Matlab programs were used in calculating the frequency-dependent grounding impedances of vertical grounding electrodes. It was found that the frequency-dependent grounding characteristics of vertical grounding electrodes are characterized by the distributed parameters which are changed in the dimension of grounding electrodes.

  • The half logistic distribution has been used intensively in reliability and survival analysis especially when the data is censored. In this paper, we provide prole likelihood estimation of the shape parameter and scale parameter in the generalized half logistic distribution based on progressively Type-II censored data. We also introduce approximate maximum prole likelihood estimates for the scale parameter. As an illustration, we examine the validity of our estimation using real data and simulated data.

  • As a life cycle of product bas shortend, Rapid prototypiug has come into the spotlight to shortened the time of producint a prototype. But It followed in laminated directivity and of the prototype production which is decided the interference which Beccuase of invisible rough surface, some inferences have occured during an assembly hour. Consequently, This study on rapid prototyping has parameter to determine surface roughness and surface form precision of total shape. In order to improve Surface form precision, it can control parameters which are Laminate Height, Layer Hatch Overcue, Fill Cure Depth. In addition, we found the parameter which have a deep effect on surface roughness among various parameters, and then, tried to reduce the interference that can be occurred by surface roughness during assembly.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the amount of contributions of each Sirroco fan parameter to noise and performance using experimental and numerical approaches. We made several fans and structures related to fan housing and fan for parameter study like inlet blade angle, outlet blade angle, inlet diameter, outlet diameter, blade shape. etc.. Numerical analysis was performed using commercial code (FANNOISE) for the part not to be possible to do experiment. Using these parameter study, We have found the way to reduce noise and improve performance of fan and had some useful data for designing low noise and high performance fan.

Mathematical representation to assess the wind resource by three parameter Weibull distribution

  • Weibull distribution is a conspicuous distribution known for its accuracy and its usage for wind energy analysis. The two and three parameter Weibull distributions are adopted in this study to fit wind speed data. The daily mean wind speed data of Ennore, Tamil Nadu, India has been used to validate the procedure. The parameters are estimated using maximum likelihood method, least square method and moment method. Four statistical tests namely Root mean square error, R2 test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Anderson-Darling test are employed to inspect the fitness of Weibull probability density functions. The value of shape factor, scale factor, wind speed and wind power are determined at a height of 100m using extrapolation of numerical equations. Also, the value of capacity factor is calculated mathematically. This study provides a way to evaluate feasible locations for wind energy assessment, which can be used at any windy site throughout the world.
