  • The aim of this paper is to present new and an efficient optimization algorithm called Jaya for the optimum mass of braced dome structures with natural frequency constraints. Design variables of the bar cross-section area and coordinates of the structure nodes were used for size and shape optimization, respectively. The effectiveness of Jaya algorithm is demonstrated through three benchmark braced domes (52-bar, 120-bar, and 600-bar). The algorithm applied is an effective tool for finding the optimum design of structures with frequency constraints. The Jaya algorithm has been programmed in MATLAB to optimize braced dome.

  • We study the Fisher Information (FI) of m-generalized order statistics (m-GOSs) and their concomitants about the shape-parameter vector of the Iterated Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (IFGM) bivariate distribution. We carry out a computational study and show how the FI matrix (FIM) helps in finding information contained in singly or multiply censored bivariate samples from the IFGM. We also run numerical computations about the FIM for the sub-models of order statistics (OSs) and sequential order statistics (SOSs). We evaluate FI about the mean and the shape-parameter of exponential and power distributions, respectively. Finally, we investigate the Kullback-Leibler distance in concomitants of m-GOSs.

  • This paper addresses the problem of vision-based ear loops ansd attachment inspection in mask production lines. This paper focuses on connections with ear loops and mask filter by an efficient combined approach. The proposed method used a template matching, shape detection and summation of histogram with preprocessing. We had a parameter for detecting defects heuristically. If the shape vertices are lower than the parameters our proposed method will find defective mask automatically. After finding normal masks in mask ear loops attachment status inspection algorithm our proposed method conducts attachment amount inspection. Our experimental results showed that the precision is 1 and the recall is 0.99 in the mask attachment status inspection and attachment amount inspection.

  • This paper presents a basic theory of information flow from single sending point to multiple receiving points, where new theories of algebraic system called "Hybrid Vector Space" and flow vector space play important roles. Based on the theory, a new algorithm for finding maximum homogenous information flow is proposed, where homogenous information flow means the flow of the same contents of information delivered to multiple clients at a time. Effective multi-routing algorithms fur tree-shape delivery rout search are presented.

  • One of the most popular graphical techniques for goodness of fit problems is the quantile-quantile plot(Q-Q plot) Easton and McCulloch(1990) suggested a way of generalizing Q-Q plots to multivariate cases bases on finding a matching between the points of the data set whose shape is being examined and a reference sample. in this paper we investigated the asymptotic behavior of the generalized Q-Q plot for bivariate cases. As a result we concluded that the standard univariate Q-Q plot and the generalized Q-Q plot have the same limit if two variables are independent.

  • Since the occlusal loading is transmitted to the surrounding bone, the success of an implant treatment is closely related to the distribution of the stress on the implant. The finite element analysis method is often used in order to produce a model for dispersion of stress. Assessment of the success of the implant is usually based on the degree of osseointegration which is a bone and implant surface interface. Implant used in this research was designed through the method of shape optimization after the stress on implant was anaylzed by the finite element analysis method. This study was pertinently assessed by a clinical, histologic, histomorphometric analysis after the shape optimized implant was installed on beagle dog tibia. The results are as follows 1. It clinically showed a good result without mobility and imflammatory reaction. 2. Implant was supported by dense bone and bone remodeling showed on the surrounding area of the implant 3. The average percentage of bone-implant contact was 58.1%.The percentage of bone density was 57.6%. Having above results, shape optimized implant showed the pertinence through clinical and histologic aspects. However, to use the shape optimized implant, the further experiment is required for finding problems, improvement.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate weight control and the relative influence of individual variables affecting children's attempts to control weight. The study subjects were 319 elementary school children. First, the average body height and weight of the children who participated in this study was somewhat larger in boys and similar in girls, as compared with the normal body shape of Korean children. More boys were classified as overweight than girls, based on BMI. Both boys and girls were dissatisfied with their body shape, and especially the girls showed higher dissatisfaction rate than the boys did. Almost half of the children were concerned about weight control and girls had higher concern than boys. Of the children, 38.8% had controlled their weight; however there was no difference between their sexes. There were significant differences between children who had and had not experienced weight control in the following variables: stress caused by obesity, body satisfaction, BMI, subjective body shape perception and concern about weight control. Therefore, discriminant function analysis was performed to determine the discrimination of these variables between the two groups. From the analysis results, the most critical factor was BMI in the boys and concern about weight control in the girls. This finding should be reflected in the design of weight control programs for children i.e., boys should be encouraged to perceive correctly their own body shape and to control weight by maintaining a well-balanced diet and moderate exercise over a long period of time, rather than by skipping meals, while girls should be inspired with sound values and attitudes regarding their body shape, rather than provided with the concrete information on how to control weight.

  • This paper proposes a novel procedure that uses a combination of overlapped basic convex shapes to decompose 2D silhouette image. A basic convex shape is used here as a structuring element to give a meaningful interpretation to 2D images. Poisson equation is utilized to obtain the basic shapes for either the whole image or a partial region or segment of an image. The reconstruction procedure is used to combine the basic convex shapes to generate the original shape. The decomposition process involves a merging stage, filtering stage and finalized by compromising stage. The merging procedure is based on solving Poisson's equation for two regions satisfying the same symmetrical conditions which leads to finding equivalencies between basic shapes that need to be merged. We implemented and tested our novel algorithm using 2D silhouette images. The test results showed that the proposed algorithm lead to an efficient shape decomposition procedure that transforms any shape into a simpler basic convex shapes.

  • This paper proposes an aircraft-installed compact offset-parabolic-reflector antenna for the spinning direction-finding applications. The feeder of the reflector antenna is a LPDA antenna that has the ultra-wideband characteristics and the $45^{\circ}$ slant linear polarization. The reflector is designed to be slanted by $5^{\circ}$ in the elevation and to be small in size on the basis of the reference parabolic shape for the purpose of the high gain and mounting on the underside of aircraft fuselage. Over the ultra-wideband 20:1 bandwidth from S to Ka band, the measured average gain of the proposed antenna is 27.97 dBi, and the average half-power beam width is $4.55^{\circ}$ in the azimuth and $4.3^{\circ}$ in the elevation which is the pencil-beam radiation pattern. All the measured data are similar to the simulation results. The designed compact offset-parabolic-reflector antenna that is installed in the limited area has the ultra-wideband and high-gain characteristics. We expect that the newly designed antenna can be applied to the spinning direction-finding antenna system installed in an aircraft.

  • In various fields of science, 2-dimensional array data is being generated actively as a result of measurements and simulations. Although various query processing techniques for array data are being studied, the problem of finding similar regions, whose sizes are not known in advance, in 2-dimensional array has not been addressed yet. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an efficient method for finding regions with similar element values, whose size is larger than a user-specified value, for a given 2-dimensional array data. The proposed method, for each pair of elements in the array, expands the corresponding two regions, whose initial size is 1, along the right and down direction in stages, keeping the shape of the two regions the same. If the difference between the elements values in the two regions becomes larger than a user-specified value, the proposed method stops the expansion. Consequently, the proposed method can find similar regions efficiently by accessing only those parts that are likely to be similar regions. Through theoretical analysis and various experiments, we show that the proposed method can find similar regions very efficiently.
