An Efficient Syntax Rule for Selective Coding (선택적 부호화를 위한 효율적인 구문 표현)

  • Image sequence is compressed and stored as the unit of frame in computer, and reconstructed with desired quality according to several applications. In some cases specific parts are more important than other parts within a frame and these important parts must be reconstructed with high quality compared with the other parts and several schemes are suggested for such application and these schemes need to separate the important parts from a given frame, and also the syntax of shape, texture, and motion information must be defined for important parts and the other parts. But syntax rule in H.261, MPEG1 or MPEG2 is not suitable for our application because the syntax rules in the existing scheme can not express shape information for separating the important regions from each frame. So we propose a new syntax rule which represents the shape, texture and motion information in the circumstances where specific important parts exist in a frame.

  • According to fast change of the environment, the structured study of the ecosystem by analyzing the plant leaves are needed. Expecially, the methodology that searches and classifies the leaves from captured from the smart device have received numerous concerns in the field of computer science and ecology. In this paper, we propose a plant leaf classification technique using shape descriptor by combining Scale Invarinat Feature Transform (SIFT) and Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) from the image segmented from the background via Graphcut algorithm. The shape descriptor is coded in the field of Locality-constrained Linear Coding to optimize the meaningful features from a high degree of freedom. It is connected to Support Vector Machines (SVM) for efficient classification. The experimental results show that our proposed approach is very efficient to classify the leaves which have similar color, and shape.

Quantitative Trait Locus Mapping and Candidate Gene Analysis for Plant Architecture Traits Using Whole Genome Re-Sequencing in Rice

  • Plant breeders have focused on improving plant architecture as an effective means to increase crop yield. Here, we identify the main-effect quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for plant shape-related traits in rice (Oryza sativa) and find candidate genes by applying whole genome re-sequencing of two parental cultivars using next-generation sequencing. To identify QTLs influencing plant shape, we analyzed six traits: plant height, tiller number, panicle diameter, panicle length, flag leaf length, and flag leaf width. We performed QTL analysis with 178 $F_7$ recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from a cross of japonica rice line 'SNU-SG1' and indica rice line 'Milyang23'. Using 131 molecular markers, including 28 insertion/deletion markers, we identified 11 main- and 16 minor-effect QTLs for the six traits with a threshold LOD value > 2.8. Our sequence analysis identified fifty-four candidate genes for the main-effect QTLs. By further comparison of coding sequences and meta-expression profiles between japonica and indica rice varieties, we finally chose 15 strong candidate genes for the 11 main-effect QTLs. Our study shows that the whole-genome sequence data substantially enhanced the efficiency of polymorphic marker development for QTL fine-mapping and the identification of possible candidate genes. This yields useful genetic resources for breeding high-yielding rice cultivars with improved plant architecture.

  • A three dimensional-two spatical dimensions plus time-image segmentation is widely used in a very low bit rate image sequence coding because it can solve the region correspondence problem. Mathematical morphology is a very efficient tool for the segmentation because it deals well with geometric features such as size, shape, contrast and connectivity. But if the motion in the image sequence is large in time axis, the conventional 3D morphological segmentation algorithm have difficulty in solving region correspondence problem. To alleviate this problem, we propose the hierarchical image sequence segmentation algorithm that uses the region motion information. Since the motion of a region in previous level affects that in current level uses the previous motion information to increase region correspondence. Simulation result shows improved performance for sequence frames with large motion.

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG-4 의 형상 정보 부호화에 사용되는 움직임 추정부의 고속 알고리즘을 제안한다. 형상정보 부호기에서 사용되는 움직임 추정부는 기존의 텍스처 기반의 움직임 추정부와는 다른 특성을 가지는데 형상 정보 추정기에서 사용되는 움직임 추정부는 CAE(Context-based Arithmetic Encoding)에서 사용될 컨텍스트를 만들기 위해 수행된다는 점과 움직임 벡터의 공간적 상관성, 그리고 형상정보가 이진성을 가진다는 점이 그것이다. 이러한 세가지 특성을 사용한 제안된 알고리즘은 움직임 추정부의 수행 속도를 비약적으로 향상시킨다. 실험 결과에 의하면 계산량은 최악의 경우에도 10% 이하로 떨어지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안한 알고리즘은 실시간 소프트웨어의 구현에 적합한 알고리즘이라고 할 수 있다.

  • This paper proposes an efficient predictive image-compression technique based on vector quantization of blocks of pels. In the proposed method edge contents of blocks control the selection of predictors and block shapes as well. The maximum number of bits assigned to quantizers has been in creased to 3bits/pel from 1/5bits/pel, the setting employed by forerunners in predictive vector quantization of images. This increase prevents the saturation in SNR observed in their results in high bit rates. The variable block shape is instrumental in eh reconstruction of edges. The adaptive procedure is controlled by means of he standard deviation ofp rediction errors generated by a default predictor; the standard deviation address a decision table which can be set up beforehand. eh proposed method is characterized by overall improvements in image quality over A-VQ-PE and A-DCT VQ, both of which are known for their efficient use of vector quantizers.

  • This paper is written for the development of boiler combustion air control algorithm of coal-fired power plant by the steps of design, coding and test. The control algorithms were designed in the shape of cascade control for two parts of air master, forced draft fan pitch blade by standard function blocks. This control algorithms were coded to the control programs of distributed control systems under development. The simulator for coal-fired power plant was used in the test step and automatic control, sequence control and emergency stop tests were performed successfully like the tests of the actual power plant. The reliability will be obtained enough to apply to actual site if the total test has been completed in the state that all algorithms were linked mutually. It is expected that the project result will contribute to the safe operation of domestic power plant and the self-reliance of coal-fired power plant control technique.

  • 물체의 형상을 부호화하기 위한 베이스라인기반 기법을 개선하였다. 베이스라인 기반 기법은 2차원인 물체의 형상 데이터를 전환점(turning point)과 기준선(Baseline)으로 부터의 거리값으로 부호화하는 방식이다. 즉, 가로나 세로의 한 방향의 거리 값과 다른 방향의 전환점을 부호화하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 베이스라인 기반 기법의 성능을 개선하기 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 첫 번째 방법은 허용 왜곡과 비트율을 판단하여 가로나 세로로 기준점의 방향을 변화시킴으로서 부호화해야하는 점들과 전환점들의 개수를 감소시켜서 압축률을 높이는 것이다. 두 번째 방법은 기존의 부표본화에서 사용된 왜곡을 판단보다 더 세밀하게 판단하여 더 많은 종류의 부표본화를 가능케 함으로써 압축률을 높이는 방법이다. 제안하는 방법이 기존의 베이스라인 기반 부호화와 MPEG-4에서 채택하고 있는 CAE(Context-based Arithmetic Encoding)와 비교해 보았을 때 보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • As make a simulator including user interface functions like start & stop, load parameters, record and save, view 3D display has a real-like length and numerical value of sizes, represent real-shape of inner and outer part of robot, make the possible fast and slow selective observation as a adjust a step, receiving the images through the image device which attached in robot, so make a motion tester simulator of humanoid robot which coded by windows based GUI(Graphic User Interface) program with a MMI(Man Machine Interface) function that user can watch the environment which included robot and use a images. For implement this, we use a design data that converted data which made by use a CAD for Laser RP(Rapid Prototyping) progress into C coding for simulator programming. Using OpenGL, an API of graphic, it has a efficiency and detail of graphic operation. To make and test animation data, it has the option of save and resume in animation.

  • To transmit the degraded voice signal within various environment surrounding acoustic noises, we extract lip i the face and then compare lip edge features with prestoring DB having features such as mouth height, width, area, and rate. It provides high security and is not affected by acoustic noise because it is not necessary to transmit the actual utterance.
