This study is focus on exploring the relationship between the index of shape and the factor of perception. This study site is a Sorak National Park which sciences of road-landscape. Slides, which were used in the study, were taken in the Sorak National Park along the roads. For this purpose, the study used the questionnairy about the Road-landscape which was presented by a slide projection, also used th index of Shape. This research used analysis method of multi-regression between the preference and perceptional factors, and between the preference and index of shape. 1) The regression result of $R^2$ is 00827 between the preference and perceptional factors, therefore we can positively consider that the preference is related to the perception. The preference is affected highly by the intimacy which is the one of perceptional factors. 2) The regression result of $R^2$ is 0.692 between the preference and the index of shape. The preference has a relation with the index of shape, and it is affected highly by the index of sky. 3) Therefore, this study identifies the relationship between the preference and the perceptional factors, and the index of shape makes this relationship possible.
Shape optimization was performed to obtain the precise shape of cutouts including the internal shape of cutouts in laminated composite plates by three dimensional modeling using solid element. The volume control of the growth-strain method was implemented and the distributed parameter chosen as Tsai-Hill fracture index for shape optimization. The volume control of the growth-strain method makes Tsai-Hill failure index at each element uniform in laminated composites under the initial volume. Then shapes optimized by Tsai-Hill failure index were compared with those of the initial shapes for the various load conditions and cutouts. The following conclusions were obtained in this study. (1) It was found that growth-strain method was applied efficiently to shape optimization of three dimensional cutouts in a laminate composite, (2) The optimal shapes of the various load conditions and cutouts were obtained, (3) The maximum Tsal-Hill failure index was reduced up to 67% when shape optimization was peformed under the initial volume by volume control of growth-strain method.

This study presents the application of two indices for the locating of cracks in Reinforced Concrete (RC) structures, as well as the development of their modified forms to overcome limitations. The first index is based on mode shape curvature and the second index is based on the fourth derivative of the mode shape. In order to confirm the indices' effectiveness, both eigenvalues coupled with nonlinear static analyses were carried out and the eigenvectors for two different damage locations and intensities of load were obtained from the finite element model of RC beams. The values of the damage-locating indices derived using both indices were then compared. Generally, the mode shape curvature-based index suffered from insensitivity when attempting to detect the damage location; this also applied to the mode shape fourth derivative-based index at lower modes. However, at higher modes, the mode shape fourth derivative-based index gave an acceptable indication of the damage location. Both the indices showed inconsistencies and anomalies at the supports. This study proposed modification to both indices to overcome identified flaws. The results proved that modified forms exhibited better sensitivity for identifying the damage location. In addition, anomalies at the supports were eliminated.
the author studied the corelativity between the head and face and the maxillary arch in Korean. This study was undertaker in 336 persons at age from 9 to 19 years who had normal occlusion by means of angle's classification. The following results were obtained. 1. The corelative coefficient between the Height of Head and Face (H.H.F.) and the Arch Length (A.L.) was 0.203-0.543, 2. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bicanine width (C-C) was 0.203-0.543. 3. The corelative coefficient between the Bizygomatic width (Z.W.) and the Bimolar width (M-M) was 0.206-0.600. 4. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillaxy arch shape (In-dex c) was 0.232-0.404. 5. The corelative coefficient between the Face shape (Index a) and Maxillary arch shape (Index d) was 0.221-0.401. 6. There was no corelativity between the Anterior-posterior width of head (A.P.W.) and Arch Length A.L.), Head shape (Index b) and Maxillary arch shape (Index c, Index d).
This study was carried out to estirnate the heritabilities and genetic correlations on egg shape index and internal egg qualities ; shell thickness, alburnin heights and Haugh units for breeding plan and selection in Korean native chicken. Data analyzed were the records of 46,908 eggs from 43() layers from April, 1994 to September, 1995. The egg shape index at the first egg, 300 days and 500 days of ages were 74.771, 74.468 and 73.702; the shell thickness were 0.345, 0.344 and 0. 334mm; the alburnen heights were 6.579, 6.130 and 5.318mm; the Haugh units were 86.859, 81.014 and 73.565 respectively. The heritability estimates of egg shape index and internal egg qualities based on the variance of sire, dam and combined components at 300 days of age were 0.136, 0.954 and 0.545 for egg shape index; 0.201, 0.622 and 0.421 for shell thickness; 0.410, 0.961 and 0.633 for albumen height ; 0.353, 0.962 and': 0.608 for Haugh units. The genetic correlation coefficient between shell thickness and albumen height was -0.044~0.824; 0.016~0.949 between Haugh units and shell thickness 0.313~0.941 between albumen height and Haugh units, respectively.
In the recent field of Machining, with the improving efficiency of processing, the index table is a key unit according to the increase of parts in available processing when working with the three axes at the same time. As an essential product of MCT, the index tables effect an influence on product quality of machined parts. Therefore, it is necessary to design the shape of index table with stability, high stiffness, lightweight structure. In this study, the optimal shape of index table was proposed using by design of experiment. The maximum displacement and stress analysis were carried out by using FEM software. The optimized shape was verified by using the statistical software. The results of shape optimization were confirmed that both displacement and stress were reduced in comparison with initial model.

Shape control of metal nanocrystals has broad applications, including catalysis, plasmonics, and sensing. It was found that controlling the atomic arrangement on metal nanocrystal surfaces affects many properties, including the electronic dipole or work function. Tuning the surface structure of exposed facets of metal nanocrystals was enabled by shape control. We investigated the effect of shape on nanomechanical properties, including friction and adhesion forces. Two nanoparticles systems, high-index {321} and low-index {100}, were used as model nanoparticle surfaces. Scanning force microscopy was used to probe nanoscale friction and adhesion. Because of the abundant presence of high-density atomic steps and kinks, high-index faceted nanoparticles have a higher surface energy than low-index faceted cubic nanoparticles. Due to this high surface energy, high-index faceted particles have shown stronger adhesion and higher friction than low-index nanoparticles. We discuss the results in light of the differences in surface energy as well as the effect of capping layers in the measurement.

The purpose of this study was to compare two analytical methods classifying foot shape. The methods compared were cluster analysis method and foot index analysis method. This study defined the women's foot shape by these methods. 39 foot measurements which were automatically collected using the three dimensional foot scanner were analyzed. 203 Korean women in age 20s were participated in the anthropometric survey. Their foot shapes were classified into 5 foot types by cluster analysis: short & slim shape, flat shape, short & slender shape with slightly distorted toe, long and big shape, and short & wide shape. The foot measurements were also analyzed by the ratio of foot width and length. Five foot types that were classified by cluster analysis and three foot types that were classified by the foot index were compared. The comparison shows that cluster analysis precisely defined foot shapes. It was suggested that made-to-measure shoes making industry may adopt the foot shape analysis method utilizing cluster analysis.
