  • The emission of microwave sulfur lamp is mainly composed of visible light. This lamp producing little infrared radiation, has high light efficiency, long lifespan and less power consumption. In comparison with xenon lamp, growing under sulfur lamp apparently postponed jointing, increased the number of tillers, accelerated root growth of wheat. Relatively, xenon lamp evidently promoted heading and grain maturation. The development characteristics of wheat plant under sulfur lamp were more similar with that in natural condition.

  • A neutral polysaccharide, GP, was isolated from a fermentation broth of Ganoderma lucidum Acid hydrolysis and a paper chromatography analysis indicated that the polysacchride was composed of glucose, xylose, and mannose. The molecular weight was estimated to be $2.9{\times}10^4$. The oral administration of GP to mice showed that it can inhibit liver damage induced by GalN and $CCl_4$.

  • The critical current is one of the key parameters of high temperature superconducting (HTS) racetrack coils. Therefore, it is significant to calculate critical currents of HTS coils. This paper introduces a fast iterative algorithm for calculating the critical current of second generation (2G) HTS coils. This model does not need to solve long charging transients which greatly reduced the amount of calculation. To validate this model, the V-I curve of four 2G HTS double racetrack coils are measured. The effect of the silicon steel sheet on the critical current of the racetrack coil is also studied based on this algorithm.

  • The article expounds that the speed competition is the motive force of each transportation means. It also analyzes the current condition of the speed of Chinese railways. The developing strategy for Chinese railway is to raise the speed of the existing lines as a primary step and to construct the high-speed railway in selected sections concurrently, which proved that constructing high-speed railway in Beijing-Shanghai area is the best choice.

  • CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells (CD4+CD25+ Tregs) have been shown to play a regulatory or suppressive role in the immune response and are possibly relevant to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. In the present study, we attempted to investigate the frequency of CD4+CD25+ Tregs in peripheral blood (PB) of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rats during the development of arthritis, to determine whether their frequency is involved in the immunoregulation of this disease. The results showed that normal rats had similar frequencies of CD4+CD25+ Tregs in PB during the experiment time, expressed as a percentage of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T cells among the CD4+ T lymphocyte population. In contrast, the frequency of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T cells in CIA rats was found to change during the development of arthritis. In CIA rats, there is a significant negative correlation between the frequency of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T cells and paw swelling (r=-0.786, p< 0.01). The relationship between the frequency of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T and immune activation was not found in normal rats. During the time course, the frequency of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ T was lower in CIA rats than in normal ones. The data suggest that the frequency of PB CD4+CD25+ Tregs may be a promising marker for arthritis activity.

  • Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory illness of the digestive system with unknown etiology, and its incidence is increasing worldwide. However, there are currently no effective treatments or medications available for individuals with CD. Therefore, novel therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. The bioactive compounds and targets associated with compounds of Qinghua Xiaoyong Formula (QHXYF) were examined using The Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology database, and 5 disease target databases were also used to identify CD-related disease targets. A total of 166 overlapping targets were identified from QHXYF-related and CD-related disease targets and they were found to be enriched in oxidative stress-related pathways and the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Molecular docking was then used to predict how the bioactive compounds would bind to the hub targets. It was found that quercetin could be the core bioactive compound and had good binding affinity to the top 5 hub targets. Finally, animal experiments were performed to further validate the findings, and the results revealed that QHXYF or quercetin inhibited 2,4,6-trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid-induced inflammation and oxidative stress processes by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT pathway, thereby improving CD symptoms. These findings suggest that QHXYF and quercetin may be potential novel treatments for CD.
