연안 환경에서 클러터에 강인한 능동소나 탐지 알고리듬 (A robust detection algorithm against clutters in active sonar in shallow coastal environment)

  • 연안 환경에서 소형 표적의 탐지에는 고주파 능동소나가 적합하다. 연안 환경에서 고주파 능동소나를 사용할 경우 해양 생물 소음, 선박 소음, 항적 등에 의한 클러터로 인하여 오경보율이 매우 높다. 본 논문에서는 연안 환경에서 능동 소나에서 클러터에 강인한 탐지 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리듬은 측정치 추출 시 신호의 통계적인 특징을 이용하는 Constant False Alarm Rate(CFAR)와 클러스터링 알고리듬을 이용하여 클러터 제거율을 높인다. 제안 된 탐지 알고리듬은 해상 시험을 통하여 검증하였으며, 약 96 % 이상의 클러터를 제거하였다.

서해 연안지역 천부지하수의 수리지구화학 : 연안 대수층의 해수 혼입에 관한 연구 (Hydrogeochemistry of shallow groundwaters in western coastal area of Korea : A study on seawater mixing in coastal aquifers)

  • Salinization is an important environmental problem encountered in coastal aquifers. In order to evaluate the salinization problem in the western coastal area of Korea, we have performed a regional hydrochemical study on shallow well groundwaters (N=229) collected within 10 km away from the coastline. The concentrations of analyzed solutes are very wide in range, suggesting that the hydrochemistry is controlled by several processes such as water-rock interaction, seawater mixing, and anthropogenic contamination. Based on the graphical interpretation of cumulative frequency curves for some hydrochemical parameters (esp., $Cl^{-}$ and ${NO_3}^-$), the collected water samples were grouped into two major populations (1) a background population whose chemistry is predominantly affected by water-rock interaction, and (2) an anomalous population which records the potential influences by either seawater mixing or anthropogenic pollution. The threshold values obtained are 34.7 mg/l for $Cl^{-}$ and 37.2 mg/l for ${NO_3}^-$, Using these two constituents, groundwaters were further grouped into four water types as follows (the numbers in parenthesis indicate the percentage of each type water) : (1) type 1 waters (38%) that are relatively poor in $Cl^{-}$ and ${NO_3}^-$, which may represent their relatively little contamination due to seawater mixing and anthropogenic pollution; (2) type 2 waters (21%) which are enriched in $Cl^{-}$, Indicating the considerable influence by seawater mixing; (3) ${NO_3}^-$-rich, type 3 waters (11%) which record significant anthropogenic pollution; and (4) type 4 waters (30%) enriched in both $Cl^{-}$ and ${NO_3}^-$, reflecting the effects of both seawater mixing and anthropogenic contamination. The results of the water type classification correspond well with the grouping on a Piper's diagram. On a Br x $10^4$versus Cl molar ratio diagram, most of type 2 waters are also plotted along or near the seawater mixing line. The discriminant analysis of hydrochemical data also shows that the classification of waters into four types are so realistic to adequately reflect the major process(es) proposed for the hydrochemical evolution of each water type. As a tool for evaluating the degree of seawater mixing, we propose a parameter called 'Seawater Mixing Index (S.M.I.)’ which is based on the concentrations of Na, Mg, Cl, and $SO_4$. All the type 1 and 3 waters have the S.M.I. values smaller than one, while type 2 and type 4 waters mostly have the values greater than 1. In the western coastal area of Korea, more than 21% of shallow groundwaters appear to be more or less affected by salinization process.

서해 태안반도 북서 연안해역에서의 연안류 특성 (The Characteristics of Coastal Currents to the Northwest of the Taean Peninsula in the Yellow Sea)

  • To investigate the characteristics of tidal currents and water circulation in the coastal waters off the Taean Peninsula, tidal currents and sea levels were measured at the study area from 1998 to 2004. In the central waterway to the south of Changan Sand Ridge, mean speed of tidal currents and residual currents were 74.0cm/s, 17.8cm/s respectively; the dominant residual currents flowed northeastward, and the amplitudes of semi-diurnal components $(M_2,\;S_2)$ were larger than diurnal components $(O_1,\;K_1)$. The flood and ebb tidal currents were northeastward and southwestward, respectively, and each period was about 6 hours for them, which was consistent with the period of sea levels at the study area. In the coastal region near Hakampo, Taean, mean velocities of tidal currents and residual currents were 46.1cm/s, 30.8cm/s respectively, and the dominant residual currents flowed southwestward. The amplitudes of shallow water constituents $(M_4,\;MS_4)$ were relatively laige, which were weaker to the northeastern coastal region off Mineodo. The northeastward flow continued for about $2{\sim}3$ hours, while the southwestward flow continued for about $9{\sim}10$ hours near Hakampo during the tidal period. Tidal currents flowed northeastward in the central area of the waterway during the period from the Low Water Level (LWL) to the High Water Level (HWL). While the currents in the coastal region flowed northeastward for the first 3 hours after the LWL, southwestward counter-currents flowed between 3 and 6 hours after the LWL. During the period from the HWL to the LWL, the dominant currents flowed southwestward in the study area except to the northeastern coastal region off Mineodo. Along the shorelines, the counter-currents flowed northward between 4 and 6 hours after the HWL. It seems that the counter-currents near the coastal region are caused by the topography and the geography of the shorelines at the study area.

WAM모형의 천해역 확장에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extension of WAM for Shallow Water)

  • 심해역 파랑모형인 WAM에 쇄파와 삼파 상호작용을 추가하여 모형의 적용영역을 천해역으로 확장하였다. 확장된 모형의 검증을 위해 Chawla et al.(1998) 과 Beji and Battjes(1993)의 수리모형 실험에 본 모형을 적용하여 천해역에서의 파랑변형 및 비선형 3파 상호작용의 수치모의 기능을 확인하였고, 계산된 수치모의 결과들은 수리실험의 계측결과와 잘 일치하였다. 그리고 실제 해역에서의 적용성을 검토하기 위해 태풍 매미에 대한 파랑 모의에 적용하였고, 계산 결과를 거제, 부산, 울산에서의 관측치와 비교하였는데 만족스러운 일치를 보여주었다.

연안류 추적 장치 개발 및 모형 실험 (Device Development for Longshore Current Measurement and Model Test)

  • Longshore current is main transportation mean causing movement of bed load and suspended particle in coastal waters, and effective measurement method and suitable equipment for shallow water coastal environment where is frequently exposed to atmosphere. Measurement equipment for longshore drift was designed and miniature model was applied to Gyeongpo beach in May and June, 2014. The equipment consists of three main elements, spheroid outer casing, spheroid inner casing, observation module equipped with GPS. Gyroscope principle was applied to observation module, and GPS receiver always can be directed upwards. Miniature models were installed along Gyeonpo beach, and it was well to track the flow of longshore current. This research described the design and function of the equipment and results of field experiments.

소형선박용 착.탈식 ADCP 고정장치 개발 (Development of a Fixing Apparatus Available to Mount-and-detach ADCP on a Small Vessel)

  • A portable apparatus mounting Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) to any small boat was developed to effectively measure currents in shallow and narrow coastal seas like the west coasts of Korea. Characteristics of the apparatus is that an underwater fish-shaped body protecting an ADCP is designed to reduce the drag during the cruise, which can be freely mounted and detached from a boat with a clamp. Several cruise outputs prove themselves that the apparatus is properly designed for the intended purpose, to minimize air bubbles and to control the submerged depth of the sensor.

엘니뇨와 라니냐가 한국 동해 연안용승에 미치는 영향 (Effect of El Niño and La Niña on the Coastal Upwelling in East Sea, South Korea)

  • 본 연구는 51년 장기(1967-2017년) 수온 관측자료와 ONI(Oceanic Niño Index)를 이용하여 El Niño와 La Niña가 한국 동해 연안용승 발생에 미치는 영향을 파악하였다. 수온의 시계열분석 결과 하계 연안용승 발생빈도가 동해남부(울기~감포) 연안에서 가장 높았다. 하계 ONI 가 2.5 이상 급감하는 연변동이 발생한 1987-1988년과 1997-1998년에 동해 전 연안역(부산~고성)의 수온이 4~7 ℃ 급상승하였다. ONI가 1.5 이상으로 El Niño가 강한 1987, 1997년과 ONI가 -0.8 이하로 La Niña가 강한 1988, 1998년 동해 연안역의 수온구조가 서로 다르게 나타났다. El Niño가 강한 시기 연안해역의 이상 수온은 음의 값으로 비교적 차가운 냉수괴가 분포한다. 이는 수온 경계층경사(Baroclinic tilting)가 강해 연안역의 수온 성층 형성 수심이 얕아지기 때문이다. La Niña가 강한 시기는 El Niño가 강한 시기와 반대로 이상 수온은 양의 값으로 수온이 높게 나타났다. 또한 수온의 경계층경사가 El Niño가 강한 시기에 비해 약해 수온 성층이 El Niño가 강한 시기보다 깊은 곳에 형성된다. El Niño가 강한 시기 얕은 수심에 수온성층이 형성되는 현상은 하계 남풍계열의 바람에 의한 연안용승이 발생할 확률을 높일 수 있다. 반대로 La Niña가 강한 시기에는 남풍계열의 바람이 지속적으로 불어도 연안용승이 발생할 확률이 작다. 왜냐하면, 수온성층이 El Niño가 강한 시기에 비해 깊은 수심에서 형성되기 때문이다.

과거 및 가상 지진해일에 의한 임원항의 침수예상도 (Inundation Map at Imwon Port with Past and Virtual Tsunamis)

  • The scale of disaster and damage witnessed in the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and the 2011 Great East Japan Tsunami has motivated researchers in developing foolproof disaster mitigation techniques for safety of coastal communities. This study focuses on developing tsunami hazard map by numerical modeling at Imwon Port to minimize losses of human beings and property damage when a real tsunami event occurs. A hazard map is developed based on inundation maps obtained by numerical modeling of 3 past and 11 virtual tsunami cases. The linear shallow-water equations with manipulation of frequency dispersion and the non-linear shallow-water equations are employed to obtain inundation maps. The inundation map gives the maximum extent of expected flooded area and corresponding inundation depths which helps in identifying vulnerable areas for unexpected tsunami attacks. The information can be used for planning and developing safety zones and evacuation structures to minimize damage in case of real tsunami events.

태국의 인공어초 현황과 전망 (Present Status and Prospect of Artificial Reef in Thailand)

  • Artificial reef in Thailand was trend to deploy and development artificial reef program to enhancing fisheries product and also use artificial reef for solve coastal problem. Artificial reef in Thailand was present in type of shallow water artificial reef by use concrete dice as dominant structure. To development artificial reef program for more benefit such as deep water artificial reef program that might provide more fisheries product for commercial fisheries and apply for use in many purposes especially for manage coastal environment in Thailand can be suggestion by cases of study. But all of that have to use more knowledge and concerning from government and organization that was responds in artificial reef program to decide the future of artificial reef program in Thailand.
