농촌지역 수자원개발에 있어 새마을 운동의 역할과 의의에 대한 실증적 연구 (Implication of the Saemaul Undong on water resources development in rural communities during 1970's)

  • Although it has been well known that the Saemaul Undong had a direct relation with the water resources development during 1970's, its contribution to the water resources and increased income in rural communities has not been thoroughly quantified so far. In order to assess the contribution of the Saemaul Undong in terms of rural water resources development, we investigated various historical data produced by the central and local governments in relation to water resources development. The results show the direct and indirect contribution of the Saemaul Undong to the water resources development in rural communities such as sewage works, water supply facilities, shared wells, and river works. The results also showed a positive relation between per-house income in rural communities and areas of irrigated paddies, which were rapidly increased during 1970's. These results can be utilized to transplant the positive aspect of the Saemaul Undong to developing countries focusing on water resources development in rural areas.

  • Wastewater management is increasingly emphasizing economic and environmental sustainability. Traditional methods in sewage treatment plants have significant implications for the environment and the economy due to power and chemical consumption, and sludge generation. To address these challenges, a study was conducted to develop the Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration System (ICEAS). This approach was implemented as the primary technique in a full-scale wastewater treatment facility, utilizing key operational factors within the standard Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process. The optimal operational approach, identified in this study, was put into practice at the research facility from January 2020 to December 2022. By implementing management strategies within the biological reactor, it was shown that maintaining and reducing chemical quantities, sludge generation, power consumption, and related costs could yield economic benefits. Moreover, adapting operations to influent characteristics and seasonal conditions allowed for efficient blower operation, reducing unnecessary electricity consumption and ensuring proper dissolved oxygen levels. Despite annual increases in influent flow rate and concentration, this study demonstrated the ability to maintain and reduce sludge production, electricity consumption, and chemical usage. Additionally, systematic responses to emergencies and abnormal situations significantly contributed to economic, technical, and environmental benefits.

  • We have studied the prearranged plan and the economy of a candidate site for the development of small hydro power. And also we have confirmed its economy by suggesting the technology of the unmanned operation and the selection of the water turbine generator which has a great efficiency. working rate and suitability to the topographical characteristics of various development sites, for example, irrigation reservoirs, water works pipes, sewage systems and cool ing water of a steam power stat ion. Besides we give more examples of the select ion of Francis, propeller turbine and induction generator which can achieve a maximum of power production at a minimum construction cost. With a water turbine which runs at the low head we are able to suggest many programs to boost a development of small hydro power more economically.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the properties of composite systems using polymer cement and epoxy resins for waterproofing and anti-corrosion to concrete structures such as water supply facilities and sewage-works. In this study these engineering properties of composite systems using polymer-modified mortar and epoxy resins were examined and could be confirmed to satisfy the guidelines of KS. Especially, it was turn out that the adhesion properties was excellent and high crack-resistance up to 1.49mm will be perform.

  • The issue with the drainpipe now a day is that they are laid underground. Causing us to perform additional work to repair, such as digging up the ground and peeling off the insulator that surrounds the pipe. And such series works are difficult that concession appears from government and municipal office. However, if we can save time and money. Performance of piping robot that we are studied in existing session through fixing unit and improvement of cutting bit shorten and wished to heighten work efficiency. And we are trying to develop a unit that can cut up the projecting parts which connects with the interior part of the drainpipes.

  • In this paper, an optimal identification method using fuzzy-neural networks is proposed for modeling of nonlinear complex systems. The proposed fuzzy-neural modeling implements system structure and parameter identification using the intelligent schemes together with optimization theory, linguistic fuzzy implication rules, and neural networks(NNs) from input and output data of processes. Inference type for this fuzzy-neural modeling is presented as simplified inference. To obtain optimal model, the learning rates and momentum coefficients of fuzz-neural networks(FNNs) and parameters of membership function are tuned using genetic algorithm(GAs). For the purpose of its application to nonlinear processes, data for route choice of traffic problems and those for activated sludge process of sewage treatment system are used for the purpose of evaluating the performance of the proposed fuzzy-neural network modeling. The show that the proposed method can produce the intelligence model w th higher accuracy than other works achieved previously.

  • 국내 상하수도 시설들은 운전과 관리 인력의 노후화와 같은 유지관리의 어려움이 가속화되고 있으므로 디지털트윈 기술이 유력한 관리 기술로 부각되고 있다. 국내 정수장의 디지털트윈 기술은 환경부의 지능형 하수처리, 일부 지자체에서 독자적으로 진행되는 사업 및 K-water 주관의 디지털 트윈 과제 등이 포함되지만, 적용 범위가 각 기관별로 상이하다. 이에 따라 정수공정에서는 시행착오를 줄이고, 미래 사업 활성화를 위해서는 기술표준화와 순차적 도입과정이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 환경부 스마트하수처리사업, K-water 지능형정수공정 구현사업, 지자체 사업 등 각 기관별로 추진되고 있는 디지털트윈 관련 기술에 대한 효율적인 추진 전략을 제공하는데 있다.

CSOs를 고려한 도시유역의 수량 및 수질 분석을 위한 PCSWMM 모형의 적용 (Application of PCSWMM for the Analysis of Water Quantity and Quality Considering CSOs)

  • Combined sewer system (CSS) has been built in the most urban areas across the nation. During dry weather conditions, CSS works fine. But during heavy rain storms, combined sewage frequently overflows into the stream. This study simulated the hydrologic cycle and pollutant loads (BOD, SS, TN and TP) in the Mokgamcheon watershed considering combined sewer overflows (CSOs). PC storm water management model (PCSWMM) was used for continuous simulation and CSOs are considered using the flow divider. Sensitivity analysis, calibration and verification for water quantity and quality are carried out. To verify CSOs, field measurements of CSOs are compared with simulated results. As a result, 41.3% of precipitation flows into the stream directly and 1.1% of water supply flows into stream as CSOs. 6.5% of BOD total loads, 12.0% of SS, 13.6% of TP, and 29.2% of TN are from CSOs. This result will be effective to the integrated watershed management for sustainability.

폐정화조를 재활용한 다목적 빗물관리시스템 구상 및 경제성 분석 (Recycling of a discarded septic tank as a rainwater management system and it's economic feasibility analysis)

  • Since the end of the 1990s, sewer pipe improvement works have been going on: most septic tanks have been thrown away and discarded. These discarded septic tanks amounts up to 370,000 based on the project plan 2005-2008: it is a serious squander of nation's resources, a contaminating means that buries toxins under soil, and a cause of a expensive waste. Research on recycling of discarded septic tank as a new resource is in urgent need. This research suggests plans to recycle discarded septic tank as a rainwater management facility, solutions to water cycle recovery in the limelight, and economic analysis of the plan. In the case of a recycling discarded septic tank as a rainwater management facility will socially benefit to support economical adequacy, discard cost saving of septic tank and water supply and sewage cost reduction will come out. Consequently a rainwater management facility converted from a discarded septic tank leads to decentralization of the rainwater management system, which anticipates a positive effect on recovery of urban water cycle.

  • Small hydro power, among other renewable energy resources, has been evaluated to have enough development value because it is a clean, renewable and abundant energy resource. In addition, small hydro power has the advantage of low cost development by using existing facilities like sewage treatment plants, water works and similar resources. But in the case of small hydro power systems, there are problems with degraded operation efficiency of turbine due to changes in flow rates. In order to overcome this, variable speed control can be achieved by using the power rectifier and permanent magnetic synchronous generator(PMSG) as a possible method to respond to the changes in flow rates. In this study, a commercial ANSYS CFD code was used to analyze the performance of 10kW class propeller hydro turbine and to also investigate flow characteristics at variable flow rates and runner vane.
