It is well accepted that rock failure mechanism influence the cutting efficiency and determination of optimum cutting parameters. In this paper, an attempt was made to research the factors that affect the failure mechanism based on discrete element method (DEM). The influences of cutting depth, hydrostatic pressure, cutting velocity, back rake angle and joint set on failure mechanism in rock-cutting are researched by PFC2D. The results show that: the ductile failure occurs at shallow cutting depths, the brittle failure occurs as the depth of cut increases beyond a threshold value. The mean cutting forces have a linear related to the cutting depth if the cutting action is dominated by the ductile mode, however, the mean cutting forces are deviate from the linear relationship while the cutting action is dominated by the brittle mode. The failure mechanism changes from brittle mode with larger chips under atmospheric conditions, to ductile mode with crushed chips under hydrostatic conditions. As the cutting velocity increases, a grow number of micro-cracks are initiated around the cutter and the volume of the chipped fragmentation is decreasing correspondingly. The crack initiates and propagates parallel to the free surface with a smaller rake angle, but with the rake angle increases, the direction of crack initiation and propagation is changed to towards the intact rock. The existence of joint set have significant influence on crack initiation and propagation, it makes the crack prone to propagate along the joint.

Sensory evaluation of shucking pressure, pressure holding time, seeding method, difference in full shucking rate in the aquaculture area and shucking oyster was performed using an ultra-high pressure oyster shucking machine. The reaching time for each target pressure is 2.2-2.4 MPa/sec in the range of 180 MPa to 240 MPa. had a rate of pressure rise. There was a difference of 0.5-1.7℃ in the range of 24-27℃ in the seawater temperature before and after the pressure treatment inside the pressure vessel, but there was no specific increase or decrease in seawater temperature. When only the shucking pressure is increased without the pressure holding time, the critical shucking pressure at which the oyster shell is opened and the flesh is peeled in the range of 200 to 220 MPa. When the critical shucking pressure is reached, the oyster sample in the closed vessel is expected to be shucked by about 40%. If there is no pressure holding time when judged only by full shucking, an increase in pressure of about 1.5 MPa is required to further shuck 3% of the oyster population. The oyster samples cultivated in the south coast of Korea were subject to full shucking under the conditions of 220 MPa shucking pressure and two minutes (120 seconds) of pressure holding time, and the difference in the pressure of the oysters according to the oyster seeding method and the farming area was minute. Finally, the condition of 220 MPa of shucking pressure and three minutes of pressure holding time was the best at 1.52 when the result of the sensory evaluation performed manually was set to 1.0. Next was 1.4 under the conditions of 220 MPa of shucking pressure and one minute of pressure holding time (60 seconds), and 1.3 under the condition of 220 MPa and two minutes of pressure holding time (120 seconds). Therefore, it is considered that the most desirable shucking conditions, considering the efficiency and sensory evaluation results, are the conditions of 220 MPa shucking pressure and two to three minutes of pressure holding time.

High pressure storage of the agent gas in fire suppression system was composed of tank, main valve and safety valve, which prevents the fracture of the high pressure storage. The safety valve has circular thin plate as fracture plate that was destroyed over fracture pressure. When inner pressure of the storage is reached the fracture pressure, the safety valve discharges gas and degrades simultaneously the inner pressure of the storage. There are design variables such as flow path diameter, inner diameter of the plastic packing ring, thickness of plate and fillet radius. In this variables, thickness of plate is set to be a value of 0.2mm. The main effect of variables on the inner pressure, has been decided using factorial design and statistical analysis. Therefore, the relation of variables are expressed by regression equation. It is disclosed results that the difference of fracture pressures between the equation and experiment has $2{\sim}5%$. Finally, using response surface method, the optimal design of the safety valve could be decided with safety pressure of 25MPa, where the fracture occurs on circular thin plate.
A new type of the fluid circulation blood pressure simulator was proposed to enhance the blood pressure simulator used for the development and evaluation of automatic sphygmomanometers. Various pressure waveform of fluid flowing in the pipe was reproduced by operating the proportional control valve after applying a pressure on the fluid in pressurized oil tank. After that, appropriate fluid was supplied by operating the proportional control valve, which enabled to reproduce various pressure wave of the fluid flowing in the tube. To accomplish this work, the mathematical model was carefully reviewed in cooperating with the proposed simulator. After modeling the driving signal as input signal and the pressure in internal tube as output signal, the simulation on system parameters such as internal volume, cross-section of orifice and supply pressure, which are sensitive to dynamic characteristic of system, was accomplished. System parameters affecting the dynamic characteristic were analyzed in the frequency bandwidth and also reflected to the design of the plant. The performance evaluator of fluid dynamic characteristic using proportional control signal was fabricated on the basis of obtained simulation result. An experimental apparatus was set-up and measurements on the dynamic characteristic, nonlinearity, and rising and falling response was carried out to verify the characteristic of the fluid dynamic model. Controller was designed and thereafter, simulation was performed to control the output signal with respect to the reference input in the fluid dynamic model using the proposed proportional control valve. Hybrid controller combined with an proportional controller and feed-forward controller was fabricated after applying a disturbance observer to the control plant. Comparison of the simulations between the conventional proportional controller and the proposed hybrid simulator indicated that even though the former showed good control performance.
A pressure sensor in pulse measurement system is a core component for precisely measuring the pulse waveform of radial artery. A pulse sensor signal that measures the pulse wave in contact with the skin is affected by the temperature difference between the ambient temperature and skin surface. In this study, we found experimentally that the signal changes of the pressure sensors and a temperature sensor were caused by the temperature of the wrist surface while the pressure sensor was contacted on the skin surface for measuring pulse wave. To observe the signal change of the pulse sensor caused by temperature increase on sensor surface, Peltier device that can be kept at a set temperature was used. As the temperature of Peltier device was kept at $35^{\circ}C$ (the maximum wrist temperature), the device was put on the pulse sensor surface. The temperature and pressure signals were obtained simultaneously from a temperature sensor and six pressure sensors embedded in the pulse sensor. As a result of signal analysis, the sensor pressure was decreased during temperature increase of pulse sensor surface. In addition, the signal difference ratio of pressure and temperature sensors with respect to thickness of cover layer in pulse sensor was increased exponentially. Therefore, the signal of pressure sensor was modified by the compensation equation derived by the temperature sensor signal. We suggested that the thickness of cover layer in pulse sensor should be designed considering the skin surface temperature.
The change of pressure drop according to the change in the inlet concentration, pulse interval, and injection distance of pulse air jet type bag filters, and the effect of venturi installation are as follows. The pressure drop with the range of 30 to $50mmH_2O$ varies according to the injection distance with 30, 50, 70, 90sec and the inlet concentration of venture built-in fabric filters. For the lower concentration of 0.5g/㎥ and 1g/㎥, the pressure $drop(\DeltaP)$ was stable 60 to 90minutes after operation. For the higher concentration of 3g/㎥, as $\DeltaP$ continues to go up, pulse interval should be set shorter than 30 seconds. The pressure drop with the injection distance of 1l0mm, when inlet dust concentration is 0.5g/㎥ or 1g/㎥, is 1.3 to 2 lower than with the injection distance of 50, 160, and 220mm, which means that the inflow amount of the secondary air by the instant acceleration is large. The injection distance of 2g/㎥ and 3g/㎥ has the similar pressure distribution. The higher inlet concentration is, the more important pulse interval is than injection distance. The pressure drop has proved to be larger when inlet concentration is lower and injection distance closer, on condition that the venturi is installed. The change in the pressure drop was smallest when injection distance was 50mm, followed by 220mm, 160mm, and 110mm.

This study analyzed a monitoring data, based on the initial limit values of monitoring in subway, of earth pressure and pore water pressure. The data is obtained from 8 sections of the Seoul metropolitan subway line No 6, 7 and 9 in about 5 years. Also, a research is performed to set up the limit values of management monitoring, which will be applied to management monitoring in tunnel, through comparing the limit values of overseas management monitoring data and that of domestic management monitoring data. And the result obtained from comparison show that the safety phase is 60% of allowable pressure, the attention phase is 80% of allowable pressure and the precision analysis phase is 100% of allowable pressure. Also, we presented a method of management monitoring by the absolute value which can be easily applied easily in practical affairs.

Background: Because of the lack of accurate values for applied forces in manual therapy, manual therapists relies on the magnitude of the individual's perception during applying the force. However, excessive loading maneuvers carry risks for patients. Objective: To establish the relationship between the maximal force applied to swine skin with the specific region, sex, and baseline parameters of the subject. Design: Ex-vivo Study and laboratory Experimental research Methods: 3.5 kg of Korean pork sirloin that is a piece of swine was handled and it was set 3 dimensions; #A; #B; #C. Forty-seven participants who has no experience in physical therapy randomly carried out the experiment, indicated to push each place of the pressure spots with same posture and process under supervision from the instructor who has over 15 years of manual therapy, and we measured the pressure force in each time. Results: The biggest pressure force was recorded in spot #A, and #B was represented after #C. Pressure on #A showed certain statistic relation with height (r=.317, p<.05) and weight (r=.434, p<.01); pressure on #B showed certain relation which has statistical meaning with only height (r=.401, p<.01); pressure on #C emerged to have statistic relationship with height (r=.308, p<.05)and weight (r=.428, p<.01). The age aspect revealed relation with pressure on #A, #B and #C, but that was not statistically significant. Conclusions: It can be inferred that there is the most loss of pressure in the area where cartilage is like an island in the middle.
In order to examine the effects of different wind deflectors on the wind load distribution characteristics of extra-large cooling towers, a comparative study of the distribution characteristics of wind pressures on the surface of three large cooling towers with typical wind deflectors and one tower without wind deflector was conducted using wind tunnel tests. These characteristics include aerodynamic parameters such as mean wind pressures, fluctuating wind pressures, peak factors, correlation coefficients, extreme wind pressures, drag coefficients and vorticity distribution. Then distribution regularities of different wind deflectors on global and local wind pressure of extra-large cooling towers was extracted, and finally the fitting formula of extreme wind pressure of the cooling towers with different wind deflectors was provided. The results showed that the large eddy simulation (LES) method used in this article could be used to accurately simulate wind loads of such extra-large cooling towers. The three typical wind deflectors could effectively reduce the average wind pressure of the negative pressure extreme regions in the central part of the tower, and were also effective in reducing the root of the variance of the fluctuating wind pressure in the upper-middle part of the windward side of the tower, with the curved air deflector showing particularly. All the different wind deflectors effectively reduced the wind pressure extremes of the middle and lower regions of the windward side of the tower and of the negative pressure extremes region, with the best effect occurring in the curved wind deflector. After the wind deflectors were installed the drag coefficient values of each layer of the middle and lower parts of the tower were significantly higher than that without wind deflector, but the effect on the drag coefficients of layers above the throat was weak. The peak factors for the windward side, the side and leeward side of the extra-large cooling towers with different wind deflectors were set as 3.29, 3.41 and 3.50, respectively.

Injection molding operation consists of phases of filling, packing, and cooling. The highest cavity pressure is involved in the packing phase among the operation phases. Thus the cavity pressure largely depends upon velocity to pressure (v/p) switchover timing and magnitude of packing pressure. Developed cavity pressure is directly related to stress concentration in the cavity of mold and it may cause a crack in the mold. Consequently control of cavity pressure is considered very important. In this study, cavity pressure was analyzed in terms of v/p switchover timing and packing pressure through computer simulation and experiment. Cavity pressure was increased as the v/p switchover timing was delayed. Residual pressure after cooling phase was observed when the v/p switchover timing was late, which was due to increased pressurizing time for long filling phase. Cavity pressure was increased proportionally with the packing pressure. Residual pressure after cooling phase was also observed, and it was increased with increasing packing pressure. High cavity pressure and residual pressure have been observed at late v/p switchover and high packing pressure. Compared with simulation and experimental results, the profiles of pressures were very similar however simulation could not predict residual pressure. Packing condition was important for the control of cavity pressure and the optimum condition could be set up using CAE analysis.
