A remotely controllable structural health monitoring framework for bridges using 3.5 generation mobile telecommunication technology

  • A framework for structural health monitoring (SHM) systems is presented utilizing a recent 3.5 generation mobile telecommunication technology, HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). It may be effectively applied to monitoring bridges, cut-slopes, and other facilities located in rural areas where the conventional Internet service is not readily available, since HSDPA is currently commercialized in 86 countries to make the Internet access possible in anywhere the mobile phone service is available. The proposed SHM framework is also incorporating remote desktop software to have remote control/operation of the SHM systems. The feasibility of the proposed framework has been demonstrated by field tests on a highway bridge in operation. One can expect that fast advances in the mobile telecommunication technology will further enhance the performance of the SHM network using the proposed framework for bridges and other facilities located in remote areas without the conventional wired Internet service.

의료 빅 데이터를 활용한 서비스 제공 프레임워크 설계 (Design of Service Provision Framework using Medical Big Data)

  • 본 논문에서는 의료용 빅 데이터를 활용하여 비즈니스와 연계하여 새로운 서비스를 창출하기 위한 프레임 워크를 설계하였다. 단순한 데이터 분석 단계를 나타내는 것이 아니라 데이터의 활용 목적을 명확히 하고, 이에 대한 분석을 수행하여 그 속에서 가치를 추출하고 실제 사업이나 서비스를 운용할 때까지의 과정을 설계한다. 설계된 프레임워크는 기본 아키텍처, 사회 시스템 모델까지 커버할 수 있도록 하였다. 설계된 프레임 워크를 참조하여 사회 시스템에 적용될 수 있도록 디자인하였으며, 기본 데이터로는 의료용 빅 데이터를 중심으로 하였다. 의료용 기본 데이터를 적용한 프레임 워크 설계로 여러 의료용 사업 제휴 및 서비스 창출을 실현할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

  • For commercial success of emerging service robots, the fault tolerant technology for system reliability and human safety is crucial. Traditionally fault tolerance methods have been implemented in application level. However, from our studies on the common design patterns in fault tolerance, we argue that a framework-based approach provides many benefits in providing reliability for system development. To demonstrate the benefits, we build a framework-based fault tolerant engine for OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) standards. The fault manager in framework provides a set of fault tolerant measures of detection, isolation, and recovery. The system integrators choose the appropriate fault handling tools by declaring XML configuration descriptors, considering the constraints of components and operating environment. By building a fault tolerant navigation application from the non-faulttolerant components, we demonstrate the usability and benefits of the proposed framework-based approach.

Privacy-Aware Adaptable Web Services Using Petri Nets

  • Many researchers have developed frameworks that are capable of handling context information and can be adapted and used by any Web service. However, no research involving the systematic analysis of existing frameworks has yet been conducted. This paper examines the Context Framework, an example of existing frameworks, using a Petri net, and analyzes its advantages and disadvantages. Then, a Petri net model - with its disadvantages removed - is introduced, and a new framework is presented on the basis of that model. The proposed PAWS (Privacy Aware Web Services) framework has a expendability for context management and communicates flexible context information for every session. The proposed framework can solve overhead problems of context in SOAP messages. It also protects user privacy according to user preferences.

  • Recently there are so many media contents created and used by variety routes. Therefore, it is essential to make a new platform which is used for distributing media contents include IPTV. With open IPTV service, developing the new platform became even more important. Because open IPTV makes it possible for consumers to choose contents regardless of contents of the providers. The new platform has to accept current variety service structure. MPEG-21 multimedia framework was developed to satisfy these needs. It presented the distribution framework of the contents but didn't restrict the particular solutions for protecting the rights. In this paper, we present authoring and consuming system for package contents based on MPEG-21 Multimedia Framework for distributing media resources and managing the license of multimedia contents

Study on Service Identity and Identity Framework

  • Objective: Service industry has become the most important industry among various economic activities, as the percentage of service related industry in advanced nations is over 60% of their GDP and the percentage of service industry in South Korea, a traditional manufacturing nation, now takes up over 60% of the entire economy. Background: Such industry paradigm shift has changed consumers from those that simply purchased products into groups of people that evaluate the companies that manufacture products, thereby further intensifying competition among companies and increasing the importance of integrated communication between companies and consumers. However, the excessive existence of sub-identities that have been developed for integrated management of the existing corporate identities, as well as the undifferentiated general management strategies by companies are creating confusion not only for consumers but also for various corporate interest parties. In addition, service identity strategy has become the most important strategy than any other sub-identity strategies in forming corporate identity at the increased importance of corporate service in the era of service industry. However, the current domestic circumstance is that the concept of service identity has not been well established through specific related studies. Method: Accordingly, the existing academic and field studies on the corporate identity(CI), brand identity(BI) and product identity(PI) used for the communication with consumers were reviewed in this study to establish and summarize the concept of service identity(SI) that appeared at the service economization. Results: The purpose is to examine the kind of change that could be brought about by SI for the corporate integrated identity strategy developed through the existing corporate, brand & product image in order to present a new direct in corporate identity strategy according to the industry paradigm shift through a SI centered new corporate identity framework. Conclusion: For preparing the new era of service industry, the corporate integrated identity strategy must be integrate with concept of service identity and which is essential to differential from other companies. Application: The proposed concept and framework of service identity on this paper will help to understand and clearly define why service identity is important factor of the new idea of corporate identities.

공간 빅데이터의 개념 및 서비스 프레임워크 구상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Concept and Services Framework of Geo-Spatial Big Data)

  • 본 연구는 수요 및 관심이 증대되고 있는 공간 빅데이터의 개념설정과 이를 기반으로 공간 빅데이터 기술을 활용할 수 있는 서비스 프레임워크를 개념적으로 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 공간 빅데이터는 정형 반정형 비정형 공간 빅데이터를 효율적으로 수집 저장 관리하는 동시에 공간정보와 융합된 다양한 속성정보에 대해 실시간 통합 분석을 수행하여 의미 있는 정보를 추출함으로써 미래에 대응할 수 있는 기술이라 할 수 있다. 또한 공간 빅데이터는 기존 빅데이터가 가지는 3V(Volume, Variety, Velocity) 특성에 4V(Veracity, Visualization, Versatile, Value)가 추가된 특성을 가지며, 저장 관리, 분석, 서비스로 구분하여 활용범위를 설정할 수 있다. 그리고 공간 빅데이터를 활용하기 위한 서비스 측면에서의 프레임워크를 제시하였다. 구체적으로 서비스 관리, 서비스 콘테이너, 서비스 모니터링의 구성요소로 구상안을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 참조로 새로운 기술 및 기법들을 적용하여 수정 보완하고, 향후 개발예정인 저장 관리, 분석 기술개발과 연계하여 구체적인 서비스 제공방안에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.

Web Service Workflows for Distributed Visual Media Retrieval Framework

  • The need for content-based retrieval from visual media, such as image and video data, is ever increasing rapidly in many applications, such as electronic art museums, internet shopping malls, internet search engines, and medical information systems. In our previous research, we proposed an architecture, called the HERMES, which is a Web Service-enabled visual media retrieval framework. In this paper, we propose the Web Service workflows that are employed in the HERMES. We describe how we designed the workflows for service registration and query processing in the framework. We especially explain how metadata and ontology can be utilized to realize more intelligent content-based retrieval on visual media data.

JBI 기반 ESB 환경에서 효과적인 메시지 추적을 위한 메시지모니터링 프레임워크 (A Message Monitoring Framework for Tracing Messages on JBI-based Enterprise Service Bus)

  • In order to resolve the problems of traditional Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) for system integration and to establish flexible enterprise IT environments, Enterprise Service Bus(ESB) which have distributed architecture and support Service Oriented Architecture(SOA) has introduced. Particularly, JBI which developed by the Java Community Process is most widely used to implement ESB for advantages of Java technology. In ESB based on JBI, reliable message delivery is very important to ensure stability of services and systems because it is a message driven architecture. But, it is difficult to verify messages and trace messages when system fault or service error occurred because JBI specification is not enough to address them. In this paper we has proposed the Message Monitoring Framework for JBI-based ESBs which for using in monitoring messages efficiently. It provides foundations for gathering and tracing message-related information about component installation, message exchange, service deploy by using proxy-based change tracking and delegation mechanism for data processing. The proxy which used in our solutions collects data about message automatically when it changed, and the delegation mechanism provides users flexibility for data processing. Also, we describe the performance evaluation results of our solution which is acceptable. We expect to it enables users to ensure reliability and stability of the JBI-based ESB by systematic monitoring and managing messages being used to interact among components.

  • 언제, 어디서나, 다양한 단말기를 통해서 정보 서비스에 접근할 수 있게 되면서, 가용한 정보를 최대한 활용하여 사용자에게 상황에 맞는 서비스를 제공하기 위한 여러 가지 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 여가시간의 증가와 경제적 여유는 일상에서 취미, 오락, 건강, 웰빙 등의 엔터테인먼트에 대한 관심을 증대시키고 있으며, 정보 인프라를 통해 이러한 엔터테인먼트 서비스 제공에 기대가 커지고 있다. 엔터테인먼트 서비스가 사용자의 상황에 따라 이루어진다면, 사용자의 서비스에 대한 만족도는 크게 개선될 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 상황이해 엔터테인먼트 정보 서비스 개발을 위한 프레임워크에 대한 요소 기술을 살펴보고, 상황이해 엔터테인먼트 정보 서비스 프레임워크 구조를 제안한다. 또한 상황이해를 위한 데이터의 표현 및 상황 추론과 서비스 결정을 위한 지식 표현 방법을 제안한다.
