  • The safety service design policy for children's school zones aims to minimize risks for child pedestrians, who are more vulnerable to accidents than adults. This study presents an implementation plan from a collaborative governance perspective, focusing on building a safety culture for children's school zones. Research methods included literature review, case analysis, and field data collection. Case studies covered child, traffic, and school safety across sectors like corporations, academia, and local governments, identifying implications for community-based design. Empirical research involved four workshops with stakeholders to map routes, identify risks, and collect needs. Practical solutions were developed using a checklist and prototype, then implemented. The study highlights the value of engaging communities in fostering safer school routes through collaborative workshops, prioritizing needs, and proposing user-centered solutions. This community-led approach offers sustainable, realistic alternatives to enhance children's road safety. The findings were initially shared at ISAAC 2024 and expanded with further research.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate which factors affect working women's intention of second childbirth and what paths that determine this intention exist. Especially, this study focused on the influence of 'values regarding children' on intention of second childbirth of working women, and divided 'values regarding children' into 'individualistic value regarding children'and 'group-oriented value regarding children'. Findings from this study are as follows. First, the research model of this study was appropriate to explain the intention of second childbirth in working women with a child by measurement model analysis and structural model analysis. Second, it appeared that the factor which directly determined the intention of second childbirth in working women with a child was 'values regarding children', and the impact of 'individualistic values regarding children' was stronger than that of 'group-oriented values regarding children'between the two. Third, 'Economic resource'factor and 'service'factor affected 'intention of second childbirth' indirectly through other factors. Fourth, the level of public and private service resources for reconciling work and family life is affected by the level of economic resources. Finally, it appeared that 'values regarding children' could be formed or changed by working women's environmental condition like public and private service resources to support reconciling work and family life. Based on these findings, this study proposed that it should be important to form values regarding children positively by improving environmental condition for reconciling work and family life to increase childbirth intention of working women.

  • The purpose of this study was to detect early children with hyperactivity which is one of the symptoms of Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study used two methods: K-CBCL and observation of children's behavior. K-CBCL was done online by parents at home. For observation of children's behavior, the school asked children to wear a 3-axis accelerometer on their wrists. The data from K-CBCL and 3-axis accelerometer were analyzed and clustered to separate hypersensitive children from ordinary children. This experiment confirmed that 3-axis accelerometer which is one of Ubiquitous techniques and the K-CBCL questionnaire were helpful for detection of hypersensitive children.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition education with nutrition services provided by dietitians who were placed in child care facilities from the Korean Dietetic Association. For this, we investigated the levels of nutrition knowledge and dietary intakes of children who attended child-care centers as well as dietary practices of children assessed by their parents. The treatment for children consisted of nutrition education and food service activities that are provided by the dietitian who have 3 to 5 years experience. Nutrition education was implemented during 10 weeks, 20 times, and a total 400 min and it's effectiveness was evaluated by questionnaire. Data were obtained for 123 children aged 4 to 5 years old who attended four child-care centers, one for a control group and 3 for intervention groups. Dietary intakes were investigated by measuring one-serving size and plate waste a of child for one-day dietary records before and after nutrition education. The levels of nutrition knowledge of children improved showing 70.80 points before to 83.45 points after nutrition education (p<0.001). Dietary intakes of the children after nutrition service increased significantly on cooked rice (133.66 g), Kimchi (19.41 g), side dish of meat/fish (48.40 g), and side dish of vegetables (24.88 g). Dietary practices of children after treatment also improved especially 'eat diverse meat, fish, egg, and bean' and 'never leave plate waste'. To summarize, this study pointed out that nutrition service and nutrition education provided by dietitians had influences on increases of the nutrition knowledge, dietary intake, and dietary practices. Therefore, placement of dietitians needs to extend to child care facilities from the 100 persons-over-capacity facility to the 50 persons-over-capacity facility, for providing professional service such as nutrition education and nutrition counseling.

Based on the theory and practice of the psychomotorik therapy, the play activities were implemented in the close collaboration between psychmotorik experts, service designers and robotics engineers. The designed play activities are classified into four categories depending on the main areas of child development. The robotic system that can express verbal and nonverbal behaviors was developed in order to play games with children and but also to make children have continuous interest during the play activities with it. Finally, the psychomotorik-based play service scenario and interactive robot system were validated by the expert group from the domain of child psychotherapy. The evaluation results showed that the play service and the robot system were appropriately developed for children from the experts point of view.
