The objective of our study is to analyze the behavior of bonded, riveted and hybrid (bonded / riveted) steel / steel assemblies by tensile tests and to show the advantage of a hybrid assembly over other processes. the finite element method with the ABAQUS numerical code was used to model the fracture behavior of the different assemblies. Cohesive zone models (CZM) have been adopted to model crack propagation in bonded joints using a bilinear tensile separation law implemented in the ABAQUS finite element code. The riveted assemblies were modeled with the XFEM damage method identified in this ABAQUS numerical code. Both CZM and XFEM methods are combined to model hybrid assemblies. The results are consistent with the experimental results and make it possible to guarantee the validity of the applied numerical model. The use of a hybrid assembly shows a high resistance compared to other conventional methods, where the number of rivets has been highlighted. The use of the hybrid assembly improves mechanical strength and increases service life compared to a single lap joint and a riveted joint.
The social networking service (SNS) is free, but the data usage fee paid to the telecommunications company and the member's information must be provided directly or indirectly. In addition, while SNS' specifications for transmitting and receiving devices such as smart-phones and PCs are increasing day by day, using universal transmission protocols in special environments such as contaminated areas or semiconductor manufacturing plants where work instructions are mainly made using short messages is not easy. It is not free and has a problem of weak security. This paper verified the practicality through the operation test by implementing IMCP, a low-power, low-cost message transmission protocol that aims to be wearable in special environments such as risk, pollution, and clean zone based on ATmega128.
Wetlands are very critical for the conservation of aquatic ecosystems, while also serving as the breeding/ nesting/ resting grounds for water birds. Generally, wetlands support both resident and migratory birds, thus serving as connecting dots in the global flyways. The Rajasthan state of India has two Ramsar sites (Keoladeo National Park and Sambhar Lake) and many other water bodies/wetlands. However, most of these areas are segregated in the eastern, southeastern, southern, and northern parts. In the western part of Rajasthan, where lies the Great Indian or Thar desert, there are no such reported prominent wetlands drawing attention towards a substantial number of resident and migratory water birds. The author is an Indian Forest Service officer, who was posted in the Thar Desert region and during that time had identified a hidden wetland in the desert landscape. This study deliberates on the wetland location and its faunal diversity with prospects of developing the area as a proper wetland conservation zone. India is a signatory to the Central Asian Flyway of migratory species and serves as an important member in terms of having significant wetlands and reported migratory birds count. The need of preserving and bring the arid zone's hidden wetlands to the forefront can serve as an important tool to conserve water birds and comply with worldwide bird migration conservation efforts.

Because the production facilities of the Korean convenient food companies are placed in one space, the final products could be easily contaminated. It is necessary that the work space should be devided into contaminated zone, semisanitary zone and sanitary zone. The layout of the preparation facilities are reconsidered. Requirements for equipment and the facilities criteria be complemented with the air clean unit, and chilling refrigerator for rapid chilling of boiled rice and the cooked dishes for the assurance of the microbiological guality of foods. The equipment and the work space of the model companies which have the area of $99m^2,\;200m^2\;and\;300m^2$ are properly placed and designed in accordance with the regulations of the food sanitation and the architecture. A major source of durability problems in concrete structures is the corrosion of steel by the damage of passivity layer around steel bars. As chloride ion penetration is major cause of the destruction of passivity layer, evaluation of depth and concentration profile of chloride ion is the essential factor for the service-life estimation of concrete structure. To estimate chloride ion penetration characteristics, this paper on the basis of in-situ experimental data investigated the depth and concentration profile of chloride ion penetration. The core specimens are obtained at air-zone, splash zone, and tidal zone in Wando, Masan, Incheon, Gwangyang, and donghae harbors. Colorimentric method measured the chloride ion penetration depth and ASTM C 114 evaluated the concentration profile of chloride ion. Based on experimental data, the influence of harbor location and exposure condition on chloride ion penetration is evaluated.
The applicability of network-based computing depends on the availability of the underlying network bandwidth. Such a growing gap between the capacity of the backbone network and the end users' needs results in a serious bottleneck of the access network in between. As a result, ISP incurs disadvantages in their business. If this situation is known to ISP in advance, or if ISP is able to predict traffic volume end-to-end link high-load zone, ISP and end users would be able to decrease the gap for ISP service quality. In this paper, simulation tools, such as ACE, ADM, and Flow Analysis, were used to be able to perceive traffic volume prediction and end-to-end link high-load zone. In using these simulation tools, we were able to estimate sequential transaction in real-network for e-Commerce. We also imported virtual network environment estimated network data, and create background traffic. In a virtual network environment like this, we were able to find out simulation results for traffic volume prediction and end-to-end link high-load zone according to the increase in the number of users based on virtual network environment.

Traffic safety in freeway work zones is of keen interest since both crash frequency and severity are much higher than those in general freeway sections. The lane closure in work zones results in greater work load of drivers due to compulsory lane changes and speed reduction. Therefore, traffic merging control is an effective countermeasure for enhancing work zone safety. This study proposed an integrated framework based on driving and traffic simulations to evaluate traffic merging control methods in terms of traffic safety. In addition to the conventional merging method using the taper, joint merge and chicane-type merge were evaluated by the proposed methodology. Chicane-type merge outperformed other methods under level of service (LOS) A and B. On the other hand, it was identified that joint merge showed the best safety performance under LOS C traffic conditions.
Handoff is one of the most important features for the user's mobility in a wireless cellular communication system. It is related to resource reservation at nearby cells. Resource reservation to the new connection point should occur prior to handoff to enable the user to receive the data or services at the new location, at the same level of service as at the previous location. For the efficient resource reservation, mobility prediction has been reported as an effective means to decrease the call dropping probability and to shorten the handoff latency in a wireless cellular environment. A recently proposed algorithm, ZMHB, makes use of the history of the user's positions within the current cell to predict the next cell. But, the prediction of the ZMHB algorithm is found to be 80∼85% accurate for regular and random movements. In this paper, we propose a new improved ZMHB mobility prediction algorithm, which is called Detailed-ZMHB that uses detailed-zone-based tracking of mo-bile users to predict user movements. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is then demonstrated through a simulation.

In this study, we propose a novel, intuitive method of constructing an expression quantitative trait (eQT) network that is related to the metabolic syndrome using LOD scores and peak loci for selected eQTs, based on the concept of gene-gene interactions. We selected 49 eQTs that were related to insulin resistance. A variance component linkage analysis was performed to explore the expression loci of each of the eQTs. The linkage peak loci were investigated, and the "support zone" was defined within boundaries of an LOD score of 0.5 from the peak. If one gene was located within the "support zone" of the peak loci for the eQT of another gene, the relationship was considered as a potential "directed causal pathway" from the former to the latter gene. SNP markers under the linkage peaks or within the support zone were searched for in the database to identify the genes at the loci. Two groups of gene networks were formed separately around the genes IRS2 and UGCGL2. The findings indicated evidence of networks between genes that were related to the metabolic syndrome. The use of linkage analysis enabled the construction of directed causal networks. This methodology showed that characterizing and locating eQTs can provide an effective means of constructing a genetic network.
Frequency reuse among relay stations (RSs) in a down-link access zone is widely adopted for throughput enhancement in IEEE 802.16j relay networks. Since the areas covered by the RSs or the base station (BS) may overlap, some mobile stations (MSs) at the border between two neighboring transmitting stations (RS or BS) using an identical frequency band may suffer severe interference or outage. This co-channel interference within the cell degrades the quality of service (QoS) fairness among the MSs as well as the system throughput. Exclusive use of a frequency band division (orthogonal resource allocation) among RSs can solve this problem but would cause degradation of the system throughput. We observe a trade-off between system throughput and QoS fairness in the previously reported schemes based on frequency reuse. In this paper, we propose a new frequency reuse scheme that achieves high system throughput with a high fairness level in QoS, positioning our scheme far above the trade-off curve formed by previous schemes. We claim that our scheme is beneficial for applications in which a high QoS level is required even for the MSs at the border. Exploiting the features of a directional antenna in the BS, we create a new zone in the frame structure. In the new zone, the RSs can serve the subordinate MSs at the border and prone to interference. In a 3-RS topology, where the RSs are located at points $120^{\circ}$ apart from one another, the throughput and Jain fairness index are 10.64 Mbps and 0.62, respectively. On the other hand, the throughput for the previously reported overlapped and orthogonal allocation schemes is 8.22 Mbps (fairness: 0.48) and 3.99 Mbps (fairness: 0.80), respectively. For a 6-RS topology, our scheme achieves a throughput of 18.38 Mbps with a fairness of 0.68; however, previous schemes with frequency reuse factors of 1, 2, 3, and 6 achieve a throughput of 15.24 Mbps (fairness: 0.53), 12.42 Mbps (fairness: 0.71),8.84 Mbps (fairness: 0.88), and 4.57 Mbps (fairness: 0.88), respectively.
