With the advances in wireless communication technology and the advent of smartphones, research on location-based services (LBSs) is being actively carried out. In particular, several spatial index methods have been proposed to provide efficient LBSs. However, finding an optimal indexing method that balances query performance and index size remains a challenge in the case of wireless environments that have limited channel bandwidths and device resources (computational power, memory, and battery power). Thus, mechanisms that make existing spatial indexing techniques more efficient and highly applicable in resource-limited environments should be studied. Bitmap-based Spatial Indexing (BSI) has been designed to support LBSs, especially in wireless broadcast environments. However, the access latency in BSI is extremely large because of the large size of the bitmap, and this may lead to increases in the search time. In this paper, we introduce a Selective Bitmap-based Spatial Indexing (SBSI) technique. Then, we propose an Adaptive Bitmap-based Spatial Indexing (ABSI) to improve the tuning time in the proposed SBSI scheme. The ABSI is applied to the distribution of geographical objects in a grid by using the Hilbert curve (HC). With the information in the ABSI, grid cells that have no objects placed, (i.e., 0-bit information in the spatial bitmap index) are not tuned during a search. This leads to an improvement in the tuning time on the client side. We have carried out a performance evaluation and demonstrated that our SBSI and ABSI techniques outperform the existing bitmap-based DSI (B DSI) technique.
A default server strategy is a very popular scheme for managing location and state information of mobile hosts in cellular networks. But the communication cost increases if the call requests are frequent and the distant between the default server and the client is long. Still more any connection to a mobile host cannot be established when the default server of the destination mobile host fails. These problems can be solved by replicating default server and by letting nearest replicated default server process the query request which is sent from a client. It is important to allocate replicated default servers efficiently in networks and determine the number of replicated default servers. In this paper, we suggest and evaluate a default server replication strategy to reduce communication costs and to improve service availabilities. Furthermore we propose and evaluate an optimized allocation algorithm and an optimal replication degree for replicating: dofault servers in nn grid networks and binary tree networks.

Location privacy has been a serious concern for mobile users who use location-based services to acquire geographical location continuously. Spatial cloaking technique is a well-known privacy preserving method, which blurs an exact user location into a cloaked area to meet privacy requirements. However, cloaking for continuous moving object suffers from cloaked area size problem as it is unlikely for all objects travel in the same direction. In this paper, we propose a grid-based privacy preservation method with an improved Earth Mover's Distance(EMD) metric weight update scheme for semantic cloaking. We also define a representative cloaking area which protects continuous location privacy for moving users. Experimental implementation and evaluation exhibit that our proposed method renders good efficiency and scalability in cloaking processing time and area size control. We also show that our proposed method outperforms the existing method by successfully protects location privacy of continuous moving objects against various adversaries.

Internet is being used for several activities by a great range of users. These activities include communication, e-commerce, education, and entertainment. Users are required to register regarding website in order to enroll web activities. However, registration can be done by automated hacking software. That software make false enrollments which occupy the resources of the website by reducing the performance and efficiency of servers, even stop the entire web service. It is crucial for the websites to have a system which has the capability of differing human users and computer programs in reading images of text. Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Human Apart (CAPTCHA) is such a defense system against Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software. OCR can be defined as software which work for defeating CAPTCHA images and make countless number of registrations on the websites. This study proposes a new CAPTCHA context that is Korean CAPTCHA by means of the method which is splitting CAPTCHA images into several parts with random rotation values, and drawing random lines on a grid background by using Korean characters only. Lines are in the same color with the CAPTCHA text and they provide a distortion of image with grid background. Experimental results show that Korean CAPTCHA is a more secure and effective CAPTCHA type for Korean users rather than current CAPTCHA types due to the structure of Korean letters and the algorithm we are using: rotation and splitting. In this paper, the algorithm of our method is introduced in detail.

This paper is related to a new solar power conditioner for a built-in step-up chopper function. In the first step-up chopper proposed solar PV power conditioner for mutually connected in series with the input voltage of the bypass diodes are respectively connected to the positive terminal should install the mutual boosting chopper diode connected in series with the boost chopper switching element between the two power supply and at the same time the first and the second was connected to a second diode and a resonance inductor and a snubber capacitor in series with each other. And the common connection point between the bypass diode and the step-up chopper and the step-up chopper diode common connection point of the switching elements of the input voltage was set to the boost inductor for storing energy. In addition, between the step-up chopper and the step-up chopper diode and a switching element of a joint connection point of the first auxiliary diode and the second common connection point of the auxiliary diode was provided, the resonance capacitor. Between the step-up chopper and the step-up chopper diode and a switching element of a joint connection point and the common connection point of the resonance inductor snubber capacitor and connecting the third secondary diode, between two power supply lines is characterized by configuring the DC link capacitor bus lines in parallel. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the switching loss through, DC link bus lines, as well as there could seek miniaturization and weight reduction of the power conditioner itself by using a common capacitor of the non-polar non-polar electrolytic capacitor having a capacitor, the service life of the circuit can be extended and it is possible to greatly reduce the loss can be greatly improve the reliability of the product and the operation of the product itself.
Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at $70^{\circ}C$ under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at $25^{\circ}C$ was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.
The Korea UK e-Science Collaboration project has been aimed at supporting research and collaboration between Korean and UK researchers. Its goal is to benefit the nation by reducing cost and time in constructing the National e-Science Research Environment' by studying and benchmarking the cases in countries that have already procured advanced technologies in the area. Two joint workshops were held in a year where researchers from the two countries had the opportunities to share their research results with each other. Also, the project has supported exchanges of researchers fostering expertise in the field. In the course of the project, the e-Science Centre in the UK and KISTI have signed MoU(Memorandum of Understanding) in 2006. Moreover, there have been active research collaboration between Korea and the UK. The University of Southampton will share the BioSimGrid data with the Korean counterpart, and the University of York has provided the AURA software. In the future, KISTI and the UK NGS(National Grid Service) will organize a working group at OGF that will work mainly on the standardization of Parameter Sweep and bring it to lead the global standard. KISTI will include its own AURORA system into OMI-UK software stack, which will enable access to NGS resources through AURORA user application. The collaboration with the UK has opened up more opportunities for collaboration with other countries as well. KISTI and HLRS in Germany have agreed to share the COVISE and will have research exchanges. As such, it is expected that Korea will play a major role in e-Science research by building strategic and systematic collaborative relations with its International partners.
In large distributed systems, replications of data and service are needed to decrease communication cost, increase availability, and avoid single server bottleneck. Tree Quorum protocol is a representative replication protocol, which exploits a logical structure. Tree quorum protocol is one of the replication protocols allowing low read cost only in the best case, while the number of replicas exponentially increases as the level grows. In this paper, thus, we propose a new replication protocol, called symmetric tree protocol which efficiently solves the problem. The proposed symmetric tree protocol also requires much smaller read cost than previous protocols. We conduct cost and availability analysis of the protocols, and the proposed protocol displays comparable read availability to the tree protocol using much smaller number of nodes. Also, the symmetric tree protocol has much smaller response time than the logarithmic protocol.
How to transfer spatial data from server to client in wireless broadcasting environment is shown as following: A server arranges data information that client wants and transfers data by one-dimensional array for broadcasting cycle. Client listens data transferred by the server and returns resulted value only to server. Recently number of users using location-based services is increasing alongside number of objects, and data volume is changing into large amount. Large volume of data in wireless broadcasting environment may increase query time of client. Therefore, we propose Client based Data Scheduling (CDS) for efficient data scheduling in wireless broadcasting environment. CDS divides map and then calculates total sum of objects for each grid by considering number of objects and data size within divided grids. It carries out data scheduling by applying hot-cold method considering total data size of objects for each grid and number of client. It's proved that CDS reduces average query processing time for client compared to existing method.

Policy improvement such as the revision of the Road Traffic Act are proposed for personal mobility(especially e-scooter) usage. However, there is not enough discussion to solve the problem of using shared e-scooter. In this study, we analyze the influencing factors that amount of pick-up and drop-off of shared e-scooter by dividing the Seoul into a 200m grid. we develop spatial auotcorrelation model such as spatial lag model, spatial error model, spatial durbin model, and spatial durbin error model in order to consider the characteristics of the aggregated data based on a specific space, and the spatial durbin error model is selected as the final model. As a result, demographic factor, land use factor, and transport facility factors have statistically significant impacts on usage of shared e-scooter. The result of this study will be used as basic data for suggesting efficient operation strategies considering the characteristics of weekday and weekend.
