A Study on the Repositioning for Strengthening University Hospitals Competitiveness (대학병원의 시장경쟁력 강화를 위한 리포지셔닝에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to provide medical service providers with useful information for their market competitiveness and decision making. It is regarding positioning map and repositioning map strategy to enforce market competitiveness through bench marking of a specific hospital which has been relatively underestimated in the market. With AHP and biplot analyses for this study, we could identify priority of properties that medical service consumers consider when they choose a university hospital and market competitiveness of alternative university hospitals. It is expected that the study of repositioning strategy to Strengthening Market Competitiveness will provide efficient problem solving method to allocation restricted resources by repositioning the specific university hospital through benchmarking with evaluation factors of the most market competitiveness university hospital. When Inje University Paik Hospital was benchmarked and repositioned, the share of Paik hospital increased and there was only 3.1% difference from Dongah Dong-A University Hospital, which occupied the first place in market competitiveness. Such the results of this study may suggestion management strategies to provide efficient problem solving methods when companies responding to rapidly changing management environments allocation restricted resources.

How Shipping Company Satisfies Shippers Through Service Quality in South Korea: The Mediation Role of Trust

  • Purpose - This study aims to verify the direct causal relationship between cost competitiveness and global network competitiveness, which are the tangible service quality factors determined by the shipping company, which in turn affect the shipper's customer satisfaction. Additionally, we empirically investigate the intangible, related service qualities determined by shipping companies, such as operational competitiveness and customer relationship quality, and how these then positively affect customer satisfaction through the formation of trust. Therefore, we examine the mediating effect of trust formation among different contractors for shipping services. Design/methodology - In order to examine the shipping company's tangible and intangible service-qualities perceived by the shipper on customer satisfaction and the process of trust formation between contractors, we collected valid data from 114 respondents out of 200 distributed questionnaires. The respondents consisted of domestic freight forwarders who engage with domestic and international shipping and logistics agencies. Descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability, convergent and discriminant validities, common method bias, and PLS-SEM (partial least square-structural equation model) were analyzed using the program STATA 16. Findings - The findings of this study are as follows. First, our results showed that all hypotheses assumed in this study had statistically significant supporting evidence. Second, it was found that the mediating effect of trust was significant in affecting the quality of intangible service- qualities for customer satisfaction. Third, through supplementary analysis, we found that the global network competitiveness of domestic shipping companies will increase in importance in the future. In conclusion, the theoretical and practical implications of these findings are presented. Originality/value - This study reaffirmed the traditional causal relationship between customer satisfaction and tangible service quality. Additionally, we also contribute to the literature on the understanding of the causal relationship between trust formation and customer satisfaction through intangible interactions from a long-term perspective.

  • As the current trend to the main index of the port competitiveness evaluation, the competitiveness index of the port service comes to more important than the part of expense, location and facility. To reform the bottleneck of port has an effect on improving port service competitiveness. Therefore, this study shows the importance of analyzing bottlenecks on logistics to improve port competitiveness. It collected recent questionnaire data which are the subject as the Custom Service, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Trade Association about bottlenecks of port logistics for working out bottlenecks of domestic port logistics and it produced the order of priorities of bottlenecks by multiplying each output priorities and weights of each process in user of Incheon inner-outer port which is focused on container freight by analysis of priority and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). Unlike existing studies, this study has important values. It presents the priority evaluation only focused on the container freight was produced by port users who are categorized into shipping company, terminal operation company and forwarder, car-ferry in Incheon inner-outer port and making a application of logistics process. It means internal and external competitiveness improvement plan can be presented more concretely and detailed than past competitiveness attributes such as location, facility, service and expense. If the analysis of port logistics bottlenecks which was focused on container freight is extended to the part of general cargo and sundries such as haul grain, car, scrap iron, those studies will be able to provide Incheon port users with useful information and a model of analyzing overall bottleneck of logistics in Incheon port.

On the Effect of ON-DOCK System to the Sharpening of Competitiveness Edge of the Pusan Port (ON-DOCK 서비스 시스템이 부산항 경쟁력 향상에 미치는 영향)

  • Port competition is generally classified into two type of inter-domestic ports and intermational ports and the latter is measured how to secure the function of intermediacy for foreign cargoes among competing parts. In the Northeast Asia top 20 world container ports such as Pusan, Kobe, Yokohama and Kaohsiung are struggling to induce transshipment containers generated in the North China region. This paper aims to analyze and evaluate the competitive factors of the said ports such as port site facilities expenses service level and flexibility of management and operations and suggest the feasible strategies that the Pusan Port to be viable transshipment center in the region. The evaluation is attempted twice. First attempt is evaluated by present conditions of each port and second attempt by upgraded conditions of evaluation value such as port service level and flexibility of port management and operations resulted from the implementation of the ON-DOCK service system. The results of evaluation are as follows; (1) Port competitiveness of first evaluation is ranked in Kobe=Kaohsiung >Pusan>Yokohama. (2) Second evaluation is resulted in Kobe> Pusan= Kaohsiung>Yokohama. According to this results the competitiveness edge of the Pusan Port is able to strengthen by implementation of the ON-DOCk system.

  • Purpose: This study explores the impact of digital transformation (DT) strategies on gaining a competitive advantage in interactive educational services. Methods: We develop a service value proposition model by analyzing educational service elements to confirm the impact of DT in the classroom through case studies. This study focuses on educational services that DT has a positive impact on organizational competitiveness by providing opportunities for customers to engage in operational processes. This case study summarizes competitiveness using SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. Results: The findings of the case study indicate that DT-enabled competitive factors contribute to an organization's competitive advantage. The study results present key resource as social cloud services, data combination, content sharing, and products/services. The online application that collects user data about education and shares class and evaluation information creates a new class operational process in the field of educational service for a value proposition of collection-merging-sharing with social cloud function. Conclusion: The results of this study can be used as a good guideline for educational service providers interested in applying DT for improved customer satisfaction and educational organizations' competitiveness. In addition, the study findings provide theoretical and practical implications on SWOT approaches to changing the educational service provision ways through digital transformation.

  • Increasing number of business and technology expansion has sparked a growing interest in IT service business evaluation. However, it is not an easy task to come up with a fair and objective evaluation of IT service business due to the difficulties involved in the definition performance assets (marketing, human resources etc.) and knowledge assets with respect to its industry. Several public organizations in Korea are developing a "standardized evaluation protocol" based on qualitative method. But the standard evaluation protocol does not provide suitable guidelines on how to construct and evaluate the key index of IT service business. The main objective of this study is in the development of a systematic approach for the evaluation of IT service business competitiveness by emphasizing the qualitative and quantitative index to be evaluated in the framework. Application of the developed framework and guideline format showed that the used of the framework in this study provided relatively more efficient evaluation results in IT service industry.

the Comparative Analysis on Export Competitiveness for Trade in Service between Korea and China (한·중 서비스 무역의 수출경쟁력 비교분석)

  • When it comes to current balance, both of Korea and China enjoy the trade surplus in goods while both countries suffer trade deficit in service. This facts demonstrate that two countries have comparative disadvantages in service industry. In order to identify the international competitiveness of trade in service between Korea and China, several indexes such as TSI, RSCA and IMS was calculated, using the IMF's balance of payments (BOP) statistics as proxy. The results of this analysis are as follows. Korea has a comparative advantage in four sectors (Transportation services, Financial services, Royalties & license fees and Personal cultural recreation), while China has a comparative advantage in five sectors (Travel, Communication services, Insurance services, Computer & information services and Other Business services). Construction services are indeterminate. However, the competitiveness of the two sectors-communication and computer & information-which China has a comparative advantage will be transferred to Korea if some effort to reinforce the competitiveness is added because the gap is being narrowed.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate impact of smart city awareness on citizen satisfaction and to measure various factors influencing smart city competitiveness that were rarely addressed in previous studies. For the impacts on the competitiveness of smart cities, this study explored the effects of data-driven service, economic impact, social trust through sharing, environmental protection, and sustainable growth. Research design, data and methodology: To collect data, this study employed an online survey conducted by a reputable research organization. Data analysis involved the use of factor analysis, ANOVA, and regression analysis. Results: This study identified key aspects important for enhancing citizen satisfaction. Furthermore, this research unveiled the significant impacts of data-driven service, economic impact, social trust through sharing, environmental protection, and sustainable growth on the competitiveness of smart cities. Conclusions: The results yield valuable managerial and policy implications. The study suggests that enhancing citizen satisfaction through improved awareness of the smart city is crucial for effective city marketing management. Additionally, the results highlight special aspects necessary to improve smart city competitiveness, including the implementation of promotional policies supported by the government, promoting global competitiveness for domestic companies, and fostering citizen participation for effective city marketing management.

  • Many theorists have been asserting the advantageous of jikmeip system and disadvantageous of tukjeongmeip system in terms of competitiveness enhancement. But, department store is a business status where service is emphasized instead of price, it is advantageous to secure service competitiveness rather than price competitiveness. Therefore, by utilizing the professional merchandisers of the supplier even without having its own, the department store will keep the advantageous stand unless it is not a large buying system. Due to many items under control, distribution companies usually have limited source of professional merchandiser for each product. Thus, no matter how the importance of MD has been forced, when considering the practical situation, the tukjeongmeip will always have the competitiveness over the jikmeip.

A Study on the Influencing Factors on the Profit Improvement Rate of IT Service Projects (IT서비스 프로젝트의 이익개선율 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • Most companies in the IT service industry have suffered from low profitability although this industry is highly value added, which may result in losing the competitiveness of the industry. The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects and suggest how to improve the profit improvement rate, thus recovering the competitiveness of the IT service industry. The 273 IT service projects conducted by an IT service company in Korea during the past three years were analyzed and the project managers who performed these projects responded to the questionnaire developed in this study. The result from the analysis of data collected shows that the influencing factors on the profit improvement rate of IT service projects include scheduling, experience in similar projects, the leadership of project leaders, the level of team skills, relationship with clients, and clients support.
