The green IT technology is being introduced in diverse sectors, especially in the data center and green computer sectors. Rack-type PCs, which have been developed by improving the computer hardware, are effective for data centers and large businesses, but they are not usually introduced in small organizations such as small and medium businesses and schools because they require high initial costs. Power-saving PC software enables the inexpensive power control, but the installation of the power-saving software in all computers in the organization is not an easy task. Computer users in the organization are usually not cooperative as they do not think the power-saving cost is directly related to themselves. In this paper, a technique wherein the server has a restriction in providing the IP address to the computers that has no power-saving software is proposed, so that users will cooperate in the PC power-saving system to avoid inconvenience. In order to provide restricted IP address periodically, the server makes a request of power-saving software installation check for user's PC. Proposed technique is more effective ways to save computer energy, because it does not depend on specific systems or organizations.
In this paper, we have designed a Home Networking System using an embedded linux board. The system based on the World-Wide-Web is composed of three parts - a Server, a Client and a Simulator. The Home Networking Server is built in an embedded board using an embedded linux kernel. A web-server and Home Networking Server Seryice Demon programming with a Jaya-Language is included in the board. Clients can connect to the server board using a web-browser in the desktop computer, PDA or any other machines which include a web-browser. For this purpose, we made the client program using a Java-Applet. So, the clients who connect to the server for the control of the applications, download the class-file and execute the client-program in the web-browser. So, the clients don't need any other programs to control the applications from a remote place. The size of server board is very small (86.3$\times$74mm), which makes it very useful not only for the Home-Networking-System but also in many other fields, e.g., embedded robot control system, etc. Using an embedded board instead of a desktop computer is good for a simple network environment and it occupies only a small space to make the system.

In this paper, we investigate the multi-resource allocation problem, a unique feature of which is that the multiple resources can compensate each other while achieving the desired system performance. In particular, power and time allocations are jointly optimized with the target of energy efficiency under the resource-limited constraints. Different from previous studies on the power-time tradeoff, we consider a multi-server case where the concurrent serving users are quantitatively restricted. Therefore user selection is investigated accompanying the resource allocation, making the power-time tradeoff occur not only between the users in the same server but also in different servers. The complex multivariate optimization problem can be modeled as a variant of 2-Dimension Bin Packing Problem (V2D-BPP), which is a joint non-linear and integer programming problem. Though we use state decomposition model to transform it into a convex optimization problem, the variables are still coupled. Therefore, we propose an Iterative Dual Optimization (IDO) algorithm to obtain its optimal solution. Simulations show that the joint multi-resource allocation algorithm outperforms two existing non-joint algorithms from the perspective of energy efficiency.
In this paper, we suggested how the Internet of Things (IoT) technology could be applied to an internet platform that is used for managing the customer's power grid efficiently. For an internet platform with efficient management, analysis is done by several sections; communication method, and its protocol, and also security element. From this analysis, with currently used sensors, we have presented a development method for the sensor to server data reliable communication solution and data management server with a security solution. Moreover, this paper suggests a communication module that could be used for a power grid management platform, protocol and security algorithm and also a way to build a server for managing those systems and modules.
This study presents the design and implementation of a web-based remote laboratory for a multi-mode single-leg power converter, which is a topic in advanced power electronics course. The proposed laboratory includes an experimental test rig with a multi-mode single-leg power converter and its driver circuits, a measurement board, a control platform, and a LabVIEW-based user interface program that is operated in the server computer. Given that the proposed web-based remote laboratory is based on client/server architecture, the experimental test rig can be controlled by a client computer with Internet connection and a standard web browser. Although the multi-mode single-leg power converter can work at four different modes (main boost, buck-boost, boost-boost, and battery boost modes), only the buck-boost mode is used in the experiment because of page limit. Users can choose the control structure, control parameters, and reference values, as well as obtain graphical results from the user interface software. Consequently, the feedbacks received from students who conducted remote laboratory studies indicate that the proposed laboratory is a useful tool for both remote and traditional education.
In this paper, we propose a context-aware power management (CPM) scheme using beacons to reduce the power consumption of personal computers (PCs). In the proposed CPM scheme, the PC, smartphone, control server, and Internet of Things (IoT) device are necessary. PC users first log in the control server using their smartphones and select PCs to turn on. Then, the selected PCs automatically go into three different modes, i.e., sleep, shutdown, and standby power off modes, in order when the PC users leave the PCs without turning off them. Further, we develop a testbed with the proposed CPM scheme using the Arduino with Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and relay modules. Finally, it is shown that the proposed CPM scheme outperforms the conventional scheme in terms of the power consumption.

The control system for the efficiency of resource utilization in sensor network environment based on object detection and environmental sensor requires active control function which based on sensor data acquisition and transmission functions and server's data analysis. Using active rule-based mobile agent middleware, this paper proposes a new distributed control framework that reduces the load of central sensor data server in sensor network environment by implementing remote data sensing and Zigbee-based communication with server and data analysis method of server. In addition, we implemented a power-saving system prototype using active rule-based distributed control methods that applied consumer's demand and environmental variables, and verified the validity of the proposed system through experiments and evaluations in the mobile agent middleware environment. The proposed system is a system framework that can efficiently autonomously control distributed objects in the sensor network environment, and it can be applied effectively to the development of demand response service based on optimal power control for the smart power system in the future.
A new output inductor less phase shift full bridge converter with current reduction technique for server power application is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter can reduce the current stress by using the auxiliary circuit. Since the auxiliary circuit causes the additional resonance between the leakage inductor and auxiliary capacitor before the powering period, the proposed converter has lower current stress even no output filter inductor. Small size and circulating energy can be also the merits of the proposed converter. The operational principles and analysis are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the current stress can be reduced effectively by using the auxiliary circuit without large output filter inductor.

Recently, the various types of data are began to increase. In order to manage the data efficiently, a variety of cloud services are being made. However, while providing a cloud service, the problem is the cost and waste a lot of human power to manage the data that is generated and managed by the server. To solve this problem, it is build the cloud environment using a single board computer with Raspberry pi. In this paper, we used Raspberry pi as a cloud server to provide services for the users. And we construct a Total Server to manage the generated data. It can separate the processing of data and the provision of services. We ensure the efficient operation by building a cloud environment with Raspberry pi and by managing the data which generated in cloud environment with the total server.
There are various researches on MPEG techniques. MPEG technique is used to digital TV(DTV) and internet image communication. Connection method between server and client is usually using wire. Applications may be expanded, if wireless technology is used between server and client system. In this paper, Bluetooth is used for connection method between server and client. Bluetooth offers fast and reliable transmissions of both voice and data over the globally available 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. One of the major application purposes of Bluetooth is the cable replacement for mobile and peripheral devices. Bluetooth has the advantage of small size, low power and low cost. It has the disadvantage of limited bandwidth and limited range. In order to transfer effectively image Information between server and client using Bluetooth, we apply MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 image compression techniques and the results are compared with each other.
