A server load balancer is used to accept and distribute client requests to one of servers in a wireless internet proxy server cluster. LVS(Linux Virtual Server), a software based server load balancer, can support several load balancing algorithms where client requests are distributed to servers in a round robin way, in a hashing-based way or in a way to assign first to the server with the least number of its concurrent connections to LVS. An improved load balancing algorithm to consider server performance was proposed where they check upper and lower limits of concurrent connection numbers to be allowed within each maximum server performance in advance and apply the static limits to load balancing. However, they do not apply run-time server load information dynamically to load balancing. In this paper, we propose a dynamic load balancing scheme where the load balancer keeps each server CPU load information at run time and assigns a new client request first to the server with the lowest load. Using a cluster consisting of 16 PCs, we performed experiments with static content(image and HTML). Compared to the existing schemes, experimental results show performance improvement in the cases of client requests requiring CPU-intensive processing and a cluster consisting of servers with difference performance.

The growth of the World Wide Web and web-based applications is creating demand for high performance web servers to offer better throughput and shorter user-perceived latency. This demand leads to widely used cluster-based web servers in the Internet infrastructure. Load balancing algorithms play an important role in boosting the performance of cluster web servers. Previous load balancing algorithms suffer a significant performance drop under dynamic and database-driven workloads. We propose an estimation-based load balancing algorithm with admission control for cluster-based web servers. Because it is difficult to accurately determine the load of web servers, we propose an approximate policy. The algorithm classifies requests based on their service times and tracks the number of outstanding requests from each class in each web server node to dynamically estimate each web server load state. The available capacity of each web server is then computed and used for the load balancing and admission control decisions. The implementation results confirm that the proposed scheme improves both the mean response time and the throughput of clusters compared to rival load balancing algorithms and prevents clusters being overloaded even when request rates are beyond the cluster capacity.

This study designs a load balancer via direct routing that share a virtual service on a single IP address in the Linux system and suggests an efficient load balancing method to improve transmission speed in the web server cluster environment. It will increase performance and scalability with fast packet transfer and removing bottleneck problem by using TCP Splicing and Content-Aware Distributor method. This method is expected to be the noticeable technology that provides an important interface, which make application services for e-commerce effectively be applied to high-speed network infrastructure. At this time, it is required to study further on the optimum balancing method in the web server cluster environment so as to apply the hybrid (optimum load balancing method by software and hardware) method and improve the reuse of security cession based on high-speed TCP connections.
As Internet and WWW grow rapidly, the role of web servers is getting more important, and the number of users in a few popular site is also explosively increasing. Load balancing in clustered web server systems is important task to utilize whole system effectively, so dynamic load balancing is required to overcome the limit of static load balancing. In this paper, we propose two dynamic load balancing schemes, and analyzed load model and Performance improvement and also compare existing load balancing methods and IP filtering method. In case of load balancing with threshold, little extra traffic was required for better performance, but in case of load balancing with load weight, we found that the performance mainly depends on information exchange rate.

The SDN(Software Defined Networking) technology, which appeared to overcome the limitations of the existing network system, resolves the rigidity of the existing system through the separation of HW and SW in network equipment. These characteristics of SDN provide wide scalability beyond hardware-oriented network equipment, and provide flexible load balancing policies in data centers of various sizes. In the meantime, many studies have been conducted to apply the advantages of SDN to data centers and have shown their effectiveness. The method mainly used in previous studies was to periodically check the server load and perform load balancing based on this. In this method, the more the number of servers and the shorter the server load check cycle, the more traffic increases. In this paper, we propose a new load balancing technique that can eliminate unnecessary traffic and manage server resources more efficiently by reporting to the controller when a specific level of load occurs in the server to solve this limitation.
This paper proposes a policy on efficient load balancing that can reduce the network game server load burdened by surging number of users. The study adopted a contents-based clustering technique. Recently, skyrocketing number of clients in on-line games causes overloads on specific game servers, and the consequent server-instability brings the worst situation: a server failure. To cope with this problem, one can install more high-powered servers or be equipped with back-up servers, which is often inefficient in terms of cost performance. To solve this problem, the present study examined the technology enhancing the performance and efficiency of game servers by reducing the loads of specific game servers. In doing this, this study used the clustering technology to compose game servers classified by their contents and carried out appropriate load balancing to numerous clients with load balancers in each region.

Pervasive enhancement and required enforcement of the Internet of Things (IoTs) in a distributed massively multiplayer online architecture have effected in massive growth of Big-Data in terms of server over-load. There have been some previous works to overcome the overloading of server works. However, there are lack of considered methods, which is commonly applicable. Therefore, we propose a combing Sparse Auto-Encoder and Load-Balancing, which is ProGReGA for Big-Data of server loads. In the process of Sparse Auto-Encoder, when it comes to selection of the feature-pattern, the less relevant feature-pattern could be eliminated from Big-Data. In relation to Load-Balancing, the alleviated degradation of ProGReGA can take advantage of the less redundant feature-pattern. That means the most relevant of Big-Data representation can work. In the performance evaluation, we can find that the proposed method have become more approachable and stable.

Recently adoption of the Green IT is regarded as an essential element in order to decrease server heat and save energy in data center because of continuous increase of energy consumption and energy price. Consequently the conventional IT infrastructure is replaced with cloud computing platform. In this paper, we have implemented a Linux virtual server load balancing in open source-based cloud platform and the performance of the LVS load balancing is analyzed.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the spread of the untact culture and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which generates various types of data, generated so much data that it was not compared to before. This led to higher data throughput, revealing little by little the limitations of the existing network system centered on vendors and hardware. Recently, SDN technology centered on users and software that can overcome these limitations is attracting attention. In addition, SDN-based load balancing techniques are expected to increase efficiency in the load balancing area of the server cluster in the data center, which generates and processes vast and diverse data. Unlike existing SDN load distribution studies, this paper proposes a load distribution technique in which a controller checks the state of a server according to the occurrence of an event rather than periodic confirmation through a monitoring technique and allocates a user's request by weighting it according to a load ratio. As a result of the desired experiment, the proposed technique showed a better equal load balancing effect than the comparison technique, so it is expected to be more effective in a server cluster in a large and packet-flowing data center.
The prototype of forest fire management system on Web was studied. In the architecture of this system, one of the most important concerns is to handle load upcoming to Web Server so that it provides Web service without any delay or failure. In order to solve this problem, the agent is designed on dispatcher in a Web server cluster and implemented to distribute load dynamically by considering the information related to load coming to the Web Server such as the number of connection to the Map Server. The proposed forest fire management system has user-friendly interface with the GIS mapping functionality by selecting Map Objects Internet Map Server (MO IMS) as Map Server and is implemented using Java as programming language.
