Implementation of Image Transmission Server System using Embedded Linux (임베디드 리눅스 기반의 영상전송서버 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, we performed the implementation of image transmission server system using embedded system that is for the specified object and easy to install at any places and move to wherever. Since the embedded system has lower capability than PC, we have to reduce the quantity of calculation and transmission. The image compression like JPEG, needs that the server calculates for making compressed image, makes the server carry the load. So we compresses the image at the server and transmit the codes to the clients connected, then the received codes from server are decoded and displayed at the clients. In this process to make the image compression and transmission effectively, we decrease the procedure as simple as possible to transmit the data in almost real-time. We used the Redhat linux 9.0 OS at the host PC and the target board based on embedded linux. The image sequences are obtained from the camera attached to the FPGA board with ALTERA chip. For effectiveness and avoiding some constraints, we made the device driver. Generally the image transmission server is PC, but using the embedded system as a server makes the server portable and cheaper than the system based on PC.

  • As network resources have become faster and demands for multimedia service through network have increased, the demand for Media server system has increased. These kinds of media server solve their bottle neck problem of internal storage device by using parallel system which takes advantage of fast network resource. Many vendors have suggested each of their media server system to solve these problem radically, but most of them require major modification of infra component and additional drawback has added. For example, storage mechanism for specific media requires new file system which is totally different from traditional one, and algorithm for enhancing performance may not suit for traditional operating system environment. In this paper, we designed a parallel media server based on web interface of traditional system and implemented a program for media server. Implemented server system performs parallel processing through web interface without any modification of traditional system, and controls which is related to merging load by distributed data is charged only to client and control server and consequently load of storage server can be minimized. And also, data transfer protocol for streaming media includes Retransfer algorithm and client Admission control policy relevant to performance of whole system.

  • The most important service of the online game is the stability. However, in online games, the increase in the number of users burdens the server as thousands of users connect to the server at the same time. While various techniques to reduce the load on the server are studied, the study is limited only to the server part like an improvement of server algorithms. In this paper, a program to handle the largest load of the server, the message synchronization of both the server and client, is designed and implemented.

  • Methodology of server development is so important for the development of online game because the client where the users play the online game depends on the server. In this research, we have studied data linkage methods of the online game server which permits the server to save and retrieve the user data on the database. The data linkage method of the server is critical to make the users continue their games anywhere online. In this paper, several data linkage methods have been proposed and classified with their definitions. The proposed methods have been evaluated with the experimental data. It will contribute for the developer of online game server to choose a good data linkage method for the features of the game.

  • DNS(Domain Name System) is a huge distributed database that converts host name to IP address. We are expecting the importance of DNS is more increased because many Internet application services appear according to the continuous increase of Internet users and nearly all the Internet application services use DNS. To prevent the interruption of DNS service, DNS server is configured with primary DNS server and a secondary DNS server which takes the place of primary DNS server in case of the service interruption. But this scheme is difficult for providing DNS service constantly in case of DDoS attack, which brings about much network load or network problems in DNS server group. Therefore, This paper proposed the scheme to locally distribute load of DNS server, and the use of address system to group the distributed DNS servers. Also, it proposed the authentication scheme of the correspondent server in case the server is changed in DNS server group having grouping address. In this paper, it is shown that the prosed scheme guarantees the improved service reliability with maintaining the present service performance through the evaluation. Through this, we can expect the high improved DNS service can be provided in the Internet environment in the future.

  • Current Internet system of the entrance exam information to the university that is depending on searching key to solve the overloaded problem in the network and DB server or other tools to support HTML edit, haven't satisfied user's wants by supplying uniformed searching system. So this thesis will establish EEIS(Entrance Examination Information System) to prevent database overload phenomena when many users request a great amount of data at the same time and improve the decrease of speed and overload problem in DB server. EEIS playa role of bridge between outside client and DB server by placing VVS(Virtual View Server) between web server and DB server. By that method this system give users several usefulness in convenience and variety by supplying realtime data searching function to user. EEIS also give inner system manager more efficiency and speed in control the management system by solving those problem. This system is design and implementation to satisfy user's desire and give them more convenience and bring up the confidence of university that adopt this system at the end.

  • In multi-server environment there are many servers which are able to process job requests. So we bave to design a mechanism that selects appropriate servers for processing each job request while maximizing server throughput and minimizing average response time of requests. Conventional methods ac~ opt the load of each server as criteria of server selection. that is, they select a server whose load is not bigger than the others. In this work we propose an approach that uses the degree of server performance, server load and the estimated service time of requested job as guidelines of server selection. We incorporate fuzzification techniques and expert knowledge in this approach. Comparing the performances c~f our approach to that of conventional one, experiments show that the proposed approach provides better performances.

  • The characteristics of International Hacking is that because even if with tracing techniques, nobody can find Real IP address of the attacker so it is true that Great difficulty in the investigation. so that an attacker goes through the Proxy Server Many times and they use techniques of IP Spoofing to hide their IP address. In this paper, study How attackers use IP Spoofing Technique and the application of Proxy Server. In addition, to Propose IP Spoofing attacks through the Proxy Server attack and defend methods also IP traceback methods so this study materials will contribute to the development of International Hacking and Security Protection Technology.

Dynamic Shutdown of Server Power Mode Control for Saving Energy in a Server Cluster Environment (서버 클러스터 환경에서 에너지 절약을 위한 서버 전원 모드 제어에서의 동적 종료)

  • In order to ensure high performance, all the servers in an existing server cluster are always On regardless of number of real-time requests. They ensure QoS, but waste server power if some of them are idle. To save energy consumed by servers, the server power mode control was developed by shutdowning a server when a server is not needed. There are two types of server power mode control depending on when a server is actually turned off if the server is selected to be off: static or dynamic. In a static mode, the server power is actually turned off after a fixed time delay from the time of the server selection. In a dynamic mode, server power is actually turned off if all the services served in the server are done. This corresponds to a turn off after a variable time delay. The static mdoe has disadvantages. It takes much time to find an optimal shutdown time manually through repeated experiments. In this paper, we propose a dynamic shutdown method to overcome the disadvantages of static shutdown. The proposed method allows to guarantee user QoS with good power-saving because it automatically approaches an optimal shutdown time. We performed experiments using 30 PCs cluster. Experimental results show that the proposed dynamic shutdown method is almost same as the best static shutdown in terms of power saving, but better than the best static shutdown in terms of QoS.
