We investigated the characteristics of the hybrid-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) by the number of secondary windings. The SFCL consists of a transformer, which has a primary winding and several secondary windings with serially connected $YB_{a2}Cu_{3}O_{7}$ films. In order to increase the capacity. of the SFCL, the serial connection between each current limiting unit is necessary. Resistive-type SFCL has a difficulty in quenching simultaneously between the units due to slight differences of their critical current densities. The hybrid-type SFCL could achieve the simultaneous quenching through the electrical isolation and the mutual flux linkage among the units. We confirmed that the capacity of the SFCL could be increased effectively through the simultaneous quenching among the units. In addition, the power burden of the system could be reduced by adjusting the number of secondary windings. We will investigate the method to increase the capacity through serial and Parallel connections among current limiting units.

Efficient finite field operation in the elliptic curve (EC) public key cryptography algorithm, which attracts much of latest issues in the applications in information security, is very important. Traditional serial finite multipliers root from Mastrovito's serial multiplication architecture. In this paper, we adopt the polynomial basis and propose a new finite field multiplier, inducing numerical expressions which can be applied to exhibit 3 times as much performance as the Mastrovito's. We described the proposed multiplier with HDL to verify and evaluate as a proper hardware IP. HDL-implemented serial GF (Galois field) multiplier showed 3 times as fast speed as the traditional serial multiplier's adding only partial-sum block in the hardware. So far, there have been grossly 3 types of studies on GF($2^m$) multiplier architecture, such as serial multiplication, array multiplication, and hybrid multiplication. In this paper, we propose a novel approach on developing serial multiplier architecture based on Mastrovito's, by modifying the numerical formula of the polynomial-basis serial multiplication. The proposed multiplier architecture was described and implemented in HDL so that the novel architecture was simulated and verified in the level of hardware as well as software.

This paper considers a scheduling problem for a hybrid flowshop with dynamic order arrival. A hybrid flowshop is an extended form of a flowshop, which has serial stages like a flowshop but there can be more than one machine at each stage. In this paper, we propose a new method for the problem of scheduling with the objective of minimizing mean tardiness of orders which arrive at the shop dynamically. The proposed method is based on the list scheduling approach, however we use a more sophisticated method to prioritize lots unlike dispatching rule-based methods. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, a simulation model of a hybrid flowshop-type production system is constructed. We implement well-known dispatching rules and the proposed methods in the simulation model. From a series of simulation tests, we show that the proposed methods perform better than other methods.

This paper presents the basic design technology on the hybrid type GCB(gas circuit breakers) through the test results. The three type hybrid interrupters according to the arrangement of the thermal expansion chamber and the puffer cylinder(they are called 'serial type', ' parallel/exchanged type ,' and ' parallel/separated type ' respectively in this work) were designed and manufactured and then the tests of operating characteristics and interrupting were performed using a simplified synthetic test facility. The interruption capability with the type and the opening speed and the pressure rise which is required to interrupt were examined. The change of pressure rise with the number of interruption was given quantitatively and therefore the pressure rise can be predicted. Finally, it was shown that the interruption capability tends to increase with the increasing of opening speed in the puffer type; however, the hybrid type interrupter has a different interruption characteristic.

The next generation mobile communication systems require error correcting schemes that can be adaptable to various code rates and lengths with negligible performance degradation. Serial concatenated convolutional codes can be a good candidate satisfying these requirements. In this paper, we propose new rate-compatible punctured serial concatenated convolutional code (RCPSCCC) which performs better than the RCPSCCC proposed by Chandran and Valenti in the sense of the rate compatibility. These codes are evaluated and analyzed by using computer simulation and SNR evolution technique. As their application, Type-II hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) schemes using both RCPSCCCs are constructed and new RCPSCCC is shown to have better throughput.
In this paper, the pneumatic service robot with a hybrid type is developed. A pneumatic has the advantage of good compliance, high payload-to-weight and payload-to-volume ratios, high speed and force capabilities. Using pneumatic actuators which have low stiffness, the service robot can guarantee safety. By suggesting a new serial-parallel hybrid type for the service robot which separates into positioning motion and orienting motion, we can achieve large workspace and high strength-to-moving-weight ratio at the same time. A sliding mode controller can be designed for tracking the desired output using the Lyapunov stability theory and structural properties of pneumatic servo systems. Through many experiments of circular trajectory, the pneumatic service robot is evaluated and verified.
The aim of this study was to optimize staining procedures for muscle fiber typing efficiently and rapidly in bovine and porcine skeletal muscles, such as longissimus thoracis, psoas major, semimembranosus, and semitendinosus muscles. The commercially available monoclonal anti-myosin heavy chain (MHC) antibodies and fluorescent dye-conjugated secondary antibodies were applied to immunofluorescence histology. Two different procedures, such as cocktail and serial staining, were adopted to immunofluorescence analysis. In bovine muscles, three pure types (I, IIA, and IIX) and one hybrid type, IIA+IIX, were identified by the cocktail procedure with a combination of BA-F8, SC-71, BF-35, and 6H1 anti-MHC antibodies. Porcine muscle fibers were typed into four pure types (I, IIA, IIX, and IIB) and two hybrid types (IIA+IIX and IIX+IIB) by a serial procedure with a combination of BA-F8, SC-71, BF-35, and BF-F3. Unlike for bovine muscle, the cocktail procedure was not recommended in porcine muscle fiber typing because of the abnormal reactivity of SC-71 antibody under cocktail procedure. Within the four antibodies, combinations of two or more anti-MHC antibodies allowed us to distinguish pure fiber types or all fiber types including hybrid types. Application of other secondary antibodies conjugated with different fluorescent dyes allowed us to get improved image resolution that clearly distinguished hybrid fibers. Muscle fiber characteristics differed depending on species and muscle types.
In this paper, we deal with the kinematic and dynamic modeling of hybrid robotic systems that are constructed by combination of parallel and serial modules or series of parallel modules. Previously, open-tree structure has been employed for dynamic modeling of hybrid robotic systems. Though this method is generally used, however, it requires expensive computation as the size of the system increases. Therefore, we propose an efficient dynamic modeling methodology for hybrid robotic systems. Initially, the dynamic model for the proximal module is obtained with respect to the independent joint coordinates. Then, in order to represent the operational dynamics of the proximal module, we model virtual joints attached at the top platform of the proximal module. The dynamic motion of the next module exerts dynamic forces to the virtual joints, which in fact is equivalent to the reaction forces exerted on the platform of the lower module by the dynamics of the upper module. Then, the dynamic forces at the virtual joints are distributed to the independent joints of the proximal module. For multiple modules, this scheme can be constructed as a recursive dynamic formulation, which results in reduction of the complexness of the open-tree structure method for modeling of hybrid robotic systems. Simulation for inverse dynamics is performed to validate the proposed modeling algorithm.
Growing environmental and economic concerns have lead to recent efforts to produce more fuel efficient and lower emissions vehicles. Hybrid Electric Vehicles(ab. HEVs) are the most promising designs to reach these goals. In this paper, We present an of a Power Tra the Hybrid Electric Vehicle(at. PTHEV). We int a different concept of PTHEV than in the pr research of PTHEV. This PTHEV includes benefits of serial(Minimum emission and Max efficiency) and parallel(Maximum Power efficiency by direct drive engine) PTHEV. Also mechanism can avoid driving the engine in the speed regions.

We propose and demonstrate an I/Q demodulator using four-port BPSK demodulator base on additive mixing and reflection-type phase shifter using hybrid technique. Previously, the conventional I/Q demodulator base on multiplicative or additive mixing method divides I/Q signal path from mixer to parallel-to-serial converter. In this paper, we propose new I/Q demodulator without dividing I/Q baseband signal path. The proposed schematic requires half size in implementation and half power consumption in baseband path compared with the conventional receiver. Also, the proposed receiver eliminates parallel-to-serial converter after data decoding. The proposed circuit has been successfully demodulated a QPSK signal with the L-band carrier frequency and 20 Mbps data rate.
