In this paper we propose the adaptive scheme to place more search points as long as the operation tapability of the motion estimator in the video codec permits. And the proposed algorithm takes advantage of the intuitive fact that the quality of the decoded video is more degraded as the spatial frequency of the corresponding block is increased due to the augmentation of local minima per unit area. Thererore, we propose the scheme to enhance the quality by locating relatively more search points in the block with high frequency components by analyzing the spatial frequencies of the video sequence. As a result, the proposed scheme can adaptively place more search points possibly permitted by the motion estimator and guarantees better quality compared to the TSS and FS.

This paper considers the sequencing of products in mixed model assembly lines. The sequence which minimizes overall utility work in car assembly lines reduce the cycle time, the number of utility workers, and the risk of conveyor stopping. The sequencing problem is solved using Tabu Search. Tabu Search is a heuristic method which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. Various examples are presented and experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.
A reduced-state sequence estimation(RSSE) for trellis-coded (TC) 8PSK/cyclic prefixed single carrier(CPSC) with minimum mean-square error-liner equalization(MMSE-LE) on frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels is proposed. The Viterbi algorithm (VA) is used to search for the best path through the reduced-state trellis combined equalization and TCM decoding. The symbol error probability of the proposed scheme is confirmed by computer simulation.
Video Completion refers to a computer vision technique which restores damaged images by filling missing pixels with suitable color in a video sequence. We propose a new video completion technique to fill in image holes which are caused by removing an unnecessary object in a video sequence, where two objects cross each other in the presence of camera motion. We remove the closer object from a camera which results in image holes. Then these holes are filled by color information of some others frames. First of all, spatio-temporal volumes of occluding and occluded objects are created according to the centroid of the objects. Secondly, a temporal search technique by voxel matching separates and removes the occluding object. Finally. these holes are filled by using spatial search technique. Seams on the boundary of completed pixels we removed by a simple blending technique. Experimental results using real video sequences show that the proposed technique produces new completed videos.
In this research, the similarity search algorithms are provided for large video data streams. A video stream that consists of a number of frames can be expressed by a sequence in the multidimensional data space, by representing each frame with a multidimensional vector By analyzing various characteristics of the sequence, it is partitioned into multiple video segments and clusters which are represented by hyper-rectangles. Using the hyper-rectangles of video segments and clusters, similarity functions between two video streams are defined, and two similarity search algorithms are proposed based on the similarity functions algorithms by hyper-rectangles and by representative frames. The former is an algorithm that guarantees the correctness while the latter focuses on the efficiency with a slight sacrifice of the correctness Experiments on different types of video streams and synthetically generated stream data show the strength of our proposed algorithms.
In this paper, we propose a search method for time sequences which supports the normalized distance as a similarity measure. In many applications where the shape of the time sequence is a major consideration, the normalized distance is a more suitable similarity measure than the simple Lp distance. To support normalized distance queries, most of the previous work has the preprocessing step for vertical shifting which normalizes each sequence by its mean. The proposed method is motivated by the property of sequence for feature extraction. That is, the variation between two adjacent elements of a time sequence is invariant under vertical shifting. The extracted feature is indexed by the spatial access method such as R-tree. The proposed method can match time series of similar shape without vertical shifting and guarantees no false dismissals. The experiments are performed on real data(stock price movement) to verify the performance of the proposed method.
In this paper, we present a restricted tabu search(RTS) algorithm that schedules jobs on identical parallel machines in order to minimize the maximum lateness of jobs. Jobs have release times and due dates. Also, sequence-dependent setup times exist between jobs. The RTS algorithm consists of two main parts. The first part is the MATCS(Modified Apparent Tardiness Cost with Setups) rule that provides an efficient initial schedule for the RTS. The second part is a search heuristic that employs a restricted neighborhood generation scheme with the elimination of non-efficient job moves in finding the best neighborhood schedule. The search heuristic reduces the tabu search effort greatly while obtaining the final schedules of good quality. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm gives better solutions quickly than the existing heuristic algorithms such as the RHP(Rolling Horizon Procedure) heuristic, the basic tabu search, and simulated annealing.

The automatic forming sequence design system can determine desirable operation sequences even if they have little experience in the design of cold forging process. This system is proposed, which generates forming sequence plans for the multistage cold forging of zxisymmetrical solid products. Since the process of metal forming can be considered as a transformation of geometry, treatment of the geometry of the product is a key in planning processes. Forming sequence for the part can be determined by means of primitive geometries such as cylinder, cone, convex, and concave. By utilizing this geometrical characteristics(diameter, height, and radius),the product geometry is expressed by a list of the pnmitive geometries. Accordingly, the forming sequence design is formulated as the search problem which starts with a billet geometry and finishes with a given product one. Using the developed system, the sequence drawing with all dimensions, which includes the proper sequence of operations for the part, is generated under the environment of AutoCAD. The preliminary choice of some feasible forming sequences can verify by using the finite element simulation.

This paper deals with a one-searcher multi-target search problem where targets with different detection priorities move in Markov processes in each discrete time over a given space search area, and the total number of search time intervals is fixed. A limited search resource is available in each search time interval and an exponential detection function is assumed. The searcher can obtain a target detection award, if detected, which represents the detection priority of target and is non-increasing with time. The objective is to establish the optimal search plan which allocates the search resource effort over the search areas in each time interval in order to maximize the total detection award. In the analysis, the given problem is decomposed into intervalwise individual search problems each being treated as a single stationary target problem for each time interval. An associated iterative procedure is derived to solve a sequence of stationary target problems. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm guarantees optimality.
