  • The security of the image information is very important in many areas of the IoT(Internet of Things), and study a number of ways to display the security (copyright, etc.). In this paper, information of image that is used by the IoT is converted to a DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) and QC(Quantization Coefficient). And watermark (message) is to create a new encoded message(WMQR) through a QR Code. QC and WMQR applies LSB steganography techniques, can get the security (copyright, etc.) of image information. LSB steganographic techniques may be inserted according to a message (Watermark) to determine the location (Secret Key). The encoded image is sent to the recipient via the Internet. The reverse process can be obtained image and a QR code, a watermark (Message). A method for extracting a watermark from the security of the image information is coded using only the image and Secret Key, through the DCT and quantization process, so obtained by separating the watermark (Message) for the image. In this paper, we were able to improve the security of the method of image information, the image quality of the image by the simulations (PSNR), in turn, benefits were also normalized correlation (NC) and security.

  • In this paper, we proposed an optical security system based on a gray-image exclusive-OR encryption using multi-phase separation and phase-wrapping method. For encryption, a gray image is sliced into binary images, which have the same pixel value, and these images are encrypted by modified XOR rules with binary random images. The XORed images and the binary images respectively combined and converted into full phase images, called an encrypted image and a key image. For decryption, when the encrypted image and key image are used as inputs on optical elements, Practically due to limited controllability of phase range in optical elements, the original gray image cannot be efficiently reconstructed by these optical elements. Therefore, by decreasing the phase ranges of the encrypted image and key image using a phase-wrapping method and separating these images into low-level phase images using multi-phase separation, the gray image can be reconstructed by optical elements which have limited control range. The decrytion process is simply implemented by interfering a multiplication result of encrypted image and key image with reference light. The validity of proposed scheme is verified and the effects, which are caused by phase limitation in decryption process, is analyzed by using computer simulations.

  • Recently, the spread of 3D printers has been increasing the demand for 3D models. However, the creation of 3D models should have a trained specialist using specialized softwares. This paper is about an algorithm to produce a 3D model from a single sheet of two-dimensional front face photograph, so that ordinary people can easily create 3D models. The background and the foreground are separated from a photo and predetermined constant number vertices are placed on the seperated foreground 2D image at a same interval. The arranged vertex location are extended in three dimensions by using the gray level of the pixel on the vertex and the characteristics of eyebrows and nose of the nomal human face. The separating method of the foreground and the background uses the edge information of the silhouette. The AdaBoost algorithm using the Haar-like feature is also employed to find the location of the eyes and nose. The 3D models obtained by using this algorithm are good enough to use for 3D printing even though some manual treatment might be required a little bit. The algorithm will be useful for providing 3D contents in conjunction with the spread of 3D printers.

  • Recently, automatic video monitoring of individual pigs is emerging as an important issue in the management of group-housed pigs. Although a rich variety of studies have been reported on video monitoring techniques in intensive pig farming, it still requires further elaboration. In particular, when there exist adjoining pigs in a crowd pig room, it is necessary to have a way of separating adjoining pigs from the perspective of an image processing technique. In this paper, we propose an efficient image segmentation solution using both spatio-temporal information and region growing method for the identification of individual pigs in video surveillance systems. The experimental results with the videos obtained from a pig farm located in Sejong illustrated the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, I proposes a method for performing single image super resolution by separating texture-spatial domains and then classifying features based on detailed information. In CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) based super resolution, the complex procedures and generation of redundant feature information in feature estimation process for enhancing details can lead to quality degradation in super resolution. The proposed method reduced procedural complexity and minimizes generation of redundant feature information by splitting input image into two channels: texture and spatial. In texture channel, a feature refinement process with step-wise skip connections is applied for detail restoration, while in spatial channel, a method is introduced to preserve the structural features of the image. Experimental results using proposed method demonstrate improved performance in terms of PSNR and SSIM evaluations compared to existing super resolution methods, confirmed the enhancement in quality.

  • An automated cell tracking system is used to automatically analyze and track the changes in cell behavior in time-lapse cell images acquired using a microscope with a cell culture. Clustering is the partial overlapping of neighboring cells in the process of cell change. Separating clusters into individual cells is very important for cell tracking. In this study, we proposed an algorithm for separating clusters by using ellipse fitting based on a direct least square method. We extracted the contours of clusters, divided them into line segments, and then produced their fitted ellipses using a direct least square method for each line segment. All of the fitted ellipses could be used to separate their corresponding clusters. In experiments, our algorithm separated clusters with average precisions of 91% for two overlapping cells, 84% for three overlapping cells, and about 73% for four overlapping cells.

  • In computer graphics, there exist many studies about illumination and radiance for a realistic description of the 3D modeling and rendering. When we see a scene, the scene is lit by a source of light and the radiance of the points by a source in the scene. The radiance has direct light and glight component. The direct light gets lights directly from light source, but the global light gets lights indirectly by interreflections among complicated geometrical components. In this paper, we studied a method for increasing the accuracy of separating direct light and global light components from a scene by using high frequency illumination pattern. For experiments, we applied the separating method of Nayar's and found the best configurations for the separation through the experiments. We improved the separation accuracy of direct and global light by measuring the value of unilluminated area, which depends on the characteristics of object. Furthermore, we enhanced invisible scene of the global light by applying the image filtering technique.

  • We have investigated the contribution of the scattered x rays to the signal imaging in the radiographs acquired with anti-scatter grids of several grid ratios by separating the line spread functions (LSFs) derived from the signal edge image into the primary and the scatter components. By using a 1.0-mm lead plate in the scattering material, the blurred signal edge images were acquired by use of an imaging plate at a tube voltage of 80 kV with the anti-scatter grids of grid ratios for 5:1, 6:1, 8:1, 10:1 and 12:1. The edge profiles of the signal images were scanned and those in relative exposure were differentiated to obtain the LSFs. To investigate the contribution of the scattered x rays to the signal imaging, we proposed a method for separating the LSFs derived from the signal images into the primary and the scatter components, where the scatter component was approximated with exponential function. Our basic approach is to separate the area of the LSFs by ratios of the scattered x-ray exposure to the primary x-ray exposure, which were obtained for the grid ratios by use of a lead disk method. The LSFs and the two components were Fourier transformed to obtain the modulation transfer functions (MTFs) and their two components. As the result, we found that, by using the anti-scatter grids, the scattered x rays were reduced, but the shape of the LSFs of the scatter component hardly changed. The contributions of the scatter component to the MTFs were not negligible (more than 10 %) for spatial frequencies lower than about 1.0 mm$\^$-l/ and that was greater as the grid ratio decreasing. On the other hand, for higher frequencies, the primary component was dominant compared with the scatter component.

  • This paper presents a method to enhance the performance of supervised classification by separating the spectral signature of the training data sets for each class. Using clustering technique, a training data set is divided into several subsets which show a pattern of the normal distribution with small value of spectral variances. Then a supervised classification is applied with the divided training data set as training data for the temporary subclasses of the original class. The proposed method is applied to a Landsat TM image of Busan area for the applicability test. The result shows that the proposed method produces better classified results than the conventional statistical classification methods. It is expected that the proposed method will reduce the effort and expense for selecting the training data set for each class in an area which has spectrally homogeneous signature.
